Has Neil spoken against SOPA yet? Has he even mentioned it? I think its pretty earth shattering. In my mind I liken it to when congress passed the ability to print money to the banks.
The Stop Online Piracy Act ....
Was proposed by Lamar(Texas Republican)
Has Bi-partisan support
is opposed by Wyden (most vocal).
No one thinks its crazy that a democrat is trying to prevent the growth of government?

So, Sopa......
As I understand it so far....Private corporations will be able to shutdown streaming. Not a terrible plan, intellectual properties are created to make profit. The companies that made them deserve compensation.
My problem is with the way they are doing it.
Websites that are overseas distribute copyright information for free. The only way the government can stop them would be to totally block them.
the www.address would still be available in number form, so as long as you typed in the ip address, you could access the site.
So Sopa will take it a step further and hold internet service providers and search engines responsible. This means search engines like google would not show the website in search results at all.
Because you can still type in the IP address , your service provider (AOL, charter, Clear ect...) will be required to monitor us even closer. I hope you are locked into your monthly rate. Personally, I'm more concerned about my privacy.
Streaming copyright material? A felony now. Hope you don't have copyrighted music playing in the background of your uploads.
I'm still reading the bill. From what I can gather from summaries, once a corp. targets a website ( remember, sites are liable for what users post) they can shut it down. The voice of the opposition is not considered .
Finally, it breaks the internet. Im not a tech guru so Ill let you read it and understand. Microsoft, facebook, twitter, BSA, and most of silicon valley are against SOPA.
talk about people.
