I'll take my medicine front and center on this one. I still can't believe that Barack Obama is going to pick Hillary Clinton as his Secretary of State. Even Bob Woodward thought it was some kind of Cheech and Chong moment at Team Obama.
"Being president is about control, and tell me who ever controlled Bill or Hillary Clinton. They can't control each other," Woodward said on the "Chris Matthews Show."
"I think people are fantasizing or smoking something if they think Joe Biden's going to call Hillary Clinton up and say, 'This is what we want you to do.'"
But, I guess Woodward and I will be sent to the Naughty Corner now to swap stories about Spiro Agnew and John Mitchell.
Or something like that.
It has been an interesting last few days to watch all the leaks and the public dance that has occurred on this from the Clintons.
Which is why I wondered from the beginning why you would want that on the inside of the Obama Administration.
Hillary was certainly never going to be a threat to Obama in the Senate. Most people don't realize that she is a rather junior Senator.
Currently, she only outranks 33 Senators in terms of seniority. She doesn't chair a full committee in the Senate - and has no chance to anytime soon most likely.
She wanted to be in charge of health care, but that's under Ted Kennedy's influence in the Labor and Health committee.
So oddly enough, Obama will make Sen. Clinton into a much more important person in his Administration, than if he had left her in the Senate.
Hey, maybe it will turn out to be a great pick.
Then again, I reserve the write to say "I told you so" if there is some lengthy drama during Obama's presidency involving Hillary. Stay tuned.
