It's not often that you can stitch together a story on the health care debate in Congress that includes comparisons to the Holocaust, charges of psychological instability, and oh yeah - a good ole strong dose of politics.
But that's what Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) has helped provide us in the last two days.
Grayson got up on the House floor on Tuesday night and accused Republicans of having a health care policy that pretty much advocated that when people got sick, they should "die quickly."
With Republicans drawing up a resolution of "disapproval" about his conduct and demanding that the freshman Democrat apologize, Grayson trooped back to the House floor on Wednesday and attacked again.
"I would like to apologize," said the Florida Democrat. "I would like to apologize to the dead," adding that those who died without having access to health insurance deserved more.
You could almost hear the brains of Republicans blowing apart. So Grayson added a bit more fuel.
"I apologize to their dead and their families that we haven't acted sooner to end this Holocaust in America," Grayson said on the House floor.
"This is an unstable man who has come unhinged," said Andy Sere of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Sere said Grayson "doubled-down on his despicable comments" of a day before.
The GOP also brought in a top Florida state legislator to blast Grayson's Holocaust comment, labeling it "totally outrageous."
Grayson meanwhile was flogging the GOP on his Daily Kos blog, as both sides were trying to use the dustup to raise money for the next campaign.

Think about all of this for a minute. We haven't even gotten a health care bill on the floor of either the House or Senate, and things are already getting a bit wacky.
Can you imagine what the next month or so is going to bring?
In the news business, we like to talk about how "dog bites man" stories are sort of boring.
Well, this is certainly heading for "man bites dog" territory.
