The "private sector" of the economy is, in fact, the "voluntary" sector; and...the "public sector" is, in fact, the "coercive" sector. -- Henry Hazlitt

Sorry folks ...The computer network at our flagship radio station was down again this morning. This makes it just a bit difficult to get any meaningful preparation for the show done, let alone getting any notes loaded into Nealz Nuze. It seems to be an all-to-common occurrence lately. But ... whatchagonnado? I did manage to get a modem installed and working in time to create a dial-up connection established just so I could tell you that I couldn't get a connection and .... blah blah blah.

I do, however, have a few intemperate thoughts that I wanted to share with you.

Intemperate thoughts

Over the weekend there were hundreds of people camped out around Atlanta's Georgia Dome. They were there waiting to audition for "American Idol." For all of these effort the chances that any of these kids will become a star or make any type of a living in the entertainment industry would be less than one out of one hundred. If they would put this same effort into developing communications and business skills their chances of success would be around 90 out of 100.

Today is Bill Clinton's birthday. He's 57. I wonder if his rape victim, Juanita Brodderick, will send think pleasant thoughts on this august occasion.

Do you remember Wendy Jennings? She is the 16-year old who was drag racing on an Atlanta street earlier this year. She managed to kill the boy who was riding with her and a 61-year-old woman who had the misfortune of being on Wendy Jennings drag strip. Today they're concluding a hearing to decide if Wendy Jennings should be tried as a juvenile or an adult. They're kidding, aren't they? Is there really a chance they would treat this idiot as a juvenile? If you exercise the adult privileges of driving a car you should accept the adult consequences.

Parents in these parts are angry with the local government schools. They're protesting the bus routes. They have no opinions on inflated administrative staffs, grade inflation, the content of the textbooks or the quality of the teachers .. but they damned sure do know a bad bus route when they see one. Soooooo typical.
