HOLIDAY MODE There will be a fresh, though abbreviated, edition of Nealz Nuze through Wednesday, Christmas Eve. From Christmas until January 5th we will update randomly .. as news or other nonsense warrants .. and back to business as usual on January 5th. During this time there will be constant updates to the reading assignments ... and a bit less commentary. Explanation? Around this time of year I get this compulsion to spend more time with family and less time watching cursors crawl across computer screens. During this time I'll gladly accept submissions from Nuze ghost writers ... and just might post a few! GET TO THE AIRPORT EARLY Homeland Security boss Tim Ridge says that the new orange security level is serious. In fact, Ridge says that the threat of a terrorist attack is greater on our own soil at this time than it has been at any time since 9/11. This might lead you to wonder why they just don't go ahead and raise the level to red? Well, orange is as high as it gets unless and until security officials actually have good verifiable information about a specific terrorist attack to be carried out by specific individuals against a specific identifiable target in this country. We're not there yet, but we are at the point where your commercial air travel is going to be a royal pain. Make sure to get to the airport early, and travel in warm-up suits with drawstrings instead of belt buckles ... wear your slippers ... and put put everything you own in the bin to be x-rayed. Also, it's not a good time for someone with steel balls, such as myself, to be traveling commercially. UH OH ... THIS ISN'T GOOD FOR APPEASEMENT DEMOCRATS The Weekly Standard has published yet another article about Iraq and its ties to Al Qaeda. This article, appearing in the December 29th issue, discusses Clinton's attack on that so-called pharmaceutical plant in Sudan. Intelligence officials ... reporting to Bill Clinton ... were well aware of connections that plant had both with Iraq and with Osama bin Laden. If you read this article you will see that Bill Clinton justified his attack on this plant, now commonly referred to as an "aspirin factory," by citing connections between Iraq and Al Qaeda. Question: Why is it ok for Clinton to raise these connections without criticism, but not Bush. Don't expect this story to go any further than the Weekly Standard. This is something the Democrats in the mainstream media would just as soon ignore. To read the Weekly Standard article just click here. GIVE ME 30 MINUTES ..... ... an honest listen for just 30 minutes and I'll absolutely convince you that the war on drugs in this country ought to come to an end. Oh, to be sure. You may not admit it, but as you walk away from the conversation you'll be saying to yourself "Dammit, he's right. I just hate it, but he's right." I just thought I would include that little truism in today's Nuze. It makes people nuts. WATCHING CNN THIS MORNING ... .... you get the idea that the most important story facing the American people right now is whether or not Rush Limbaugh's medical records should be kept secret. Here we are facing a code-orange homeland security level, and CNN is obsessing over Rush Limbaugh's medical records. Here's a hint ... under new federal government so-called privacy regulations, nobody's medical records are really all that private. Welcome to the world of government health care. FROM TODAY'S VENT This appeared in today's edition of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution vent:
Well, as I always say: Someone has to cook the french fries. READING ASSIGNMENTS Weasley Clark is making quite a name for himself ... and building a nice little credibility gap in the process. Odd, isn't it? They think that Iraq is ready to govern itself ... but not ready to try its former dictator. That honor should, they say, be reserved for some international court. God forbid Saddam should get the death penalty. Here's that Weekly Standard article detailing how the Clinton Administration warned about Saddam's ties to Al Qaeda. I guess the political reality is that this is the truth when a Democrat says it .. .but a blatant lie when it comes from a Republican. A good account of Saddam's capture .. and an object lesson on why you would not want to spit on U.S. special forces commandos. What a great choice. In fact, it really was the ONLY choice. "The American Soldier" is Time magazine's "Man of the Year." OK .. by now all of you folks have heard the stories about how that most evil corporation in the history of that evil known as capitalism, Halliburton, tried to gouge the American taxpayers by overcharging for gasoline in Iraq. Some people -- people not known as liberals -- may actually want the rest of the story. So ... here it is. The ten top phobias ... and how to deal with them. Note that the article points out that phobias are irrational. Could there possibly be a bigger slut out there than Nicole Richie? Her father must be sooooo proud. Now the Kurds are taking credit. John Leo says that things are not going well for the Grinches in the annual battle to delete Christmas from the schools and from the public square. It's beginning to look like Republicans are going to control the House of Representatives for at least the remainder of this decade. Is this a good thing? Howard Dean isn't living up to his claims about his own honesty. |
