MAYBE THIS WILL START A TREND

The NAACP is mighty upset over being snubbed by so many Democratic presidential candidates at their convention in Miami. Gotta love it. Maybe if the Democrats didn't feel that they could absolutely, positively count on the black vote in virtually every election they would be down there actually working for this vote. This is what happens when you vote reflexively instead of actually thinking about who gets your attention on election day.

TERRY MCAULLIFFE'S SHORT MEMORY

Democrats are really piling on this "Bush lied" nonsense. At long last they seem to think that they have an issue they can use to political advantage in the next election. In the next Nuze segment you'll learn how democrats are actually using dishonesty to convince you of Bush's dishonesty.

Here, thought, we concentrate on a recent statement from DNC chairman Terry McAuliffe. McAuliffe says "This may be the first time in recent history that a president knowingly misled the American people during the State of the Union Address." Well ... I guess McAuliffe has left himself a bit of wiggle room with his "recent memory" qualifier, but didn't I hear Clinton say in one of his State of the Union speeches that "the era of big government is over."?

A BLATANT DOWDIFICATION

Add "Dowdification" to your spell checker. The base of the word comes from NY Times columnist Maureen Dowd who likes to remove essential portions of a quote in order to change the meaning of that quote. Dowd's favorite Dowdification target is George Bush. Thus far the leftist media has shown that this is a perfectly legitimate journalistic practice.

The latest Dowdification comes to us from a commercial now being run on several television stations. The commercial was bought and paid for by the Democratic National Committee. The commercial is entitled "Truth." In that commercial you see George Bush during his 2003 State of the Union Speech. In the clip the president says "Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa."

You see what the Democrats have done here, don't you? They have removed the first five words from Bush's quote: "British Intelligence has learned that ..." This is a direct, blatant and dishonest attempt to change the complete meaning of what Bush said. Instead of attributing the finding to British intelligence, as Bush did, the Democrats seek to change the meaning of Bush's quote by making it a definite statement of fact, rather than an attribution to another party.

Hopefully, none of you are surprised.

A COMPLETELY SELF-SERVING ACT

That's how you would just have to describe printing the following e-mail.

Mr. Boortz, I am a private school teacher who listens to talk radio while I paint houses in the summer. I listen on WHIO to the most "listened to" programs in the country; however, no talk show host is better than you. Thank you for the effort and enthusiasm that you put into your job. Your willingness to be fair, balanced, and knowledgeable has made me a more knowledgeable and effective teacher. Please know that you make a real positive difference in the lives of those people who have the courage to hear your message. God bless you and your work! Norm Rich Dayton, Ohio

FOR THE ANTI-AIRPORT CROWD

Some figures have been compiled for the State of Georgia showing the impact of general aviation on state tax revenues. In 2001 approximately $100,000,000 (that's one hundred million ... with an "M") was generated for the state government by general aviation. Of that $100 million less than 4% went back to the general aviation airports through capital outlay appropriations from the state legislature. In other words, a pretty good deal for the people of Georgia.

CAN YOU GUESS?

Read the first portion of a column from NY Post columnist Ralph Peters:

July 16, 2003 -- THE liberation of millions goes ignored.

Democrats attack the Republican president over a continuing conflict, insisting it cannot be won, as they position themselves for upcoming elections.

The president acts vigorously in response to a threat to our national survival - exacerbated by the fecklessness and timidity of his predecessor in office. His critics are outraged and unforgiving.

A retired general is one of the contenders for the Democratic presidential nomination, although the Army realizes it's winning and continues to support the president.

Continental European powers, especially France, tacitly back Washington's enemies, jockeying for financial advantage - even approaching open support for the enemy's leader.

Domestically, subversives and traitors are arrested. Some are handed over to military tribunals. Civil libertarians argue that the U.S. Constitution is being destroyed.

The nation's intellectual elite cannot bear the president's Western simplicity, rustic mannerisms and lack of polish.

The media attack the president savagely, making fun of his lack of sophistication and even his appearance. Cartoonists lampoon the man even more fiercely than his policies. Leading newspapers and journals insist that his policies are disastrous and that he is unfit to lead the nation.

Even the British media portray the president as a dangerous lunatic, out of control.

On Capitol Hill, self-interested members of Congress establish a committee to investigate the president's handling of the war, as well as alleged distortions and corruption in his administration.

The president's secretary of state is accused of failure and ineptitude, while the cabinet member responsible for the Army has a knack for angering everybody.

The verdict of the intelligentsia is unanimous: This president is leading the nation into disaster.

Yet, the people continue to support the man, admiring the very qualities the intellectual elite despises. The president continues to do what he believes is necessary for the nation's security and survival, ignoring his exasperated critics.

So .. just who is Ralph Peters talking about? George Bush? Here's your link to the entire column.

LET'S SEE JUST HOW FAR REACHING NEALZ NUZE REALLY IS

Here is a picture of a house. Quite old, as you can see. It's called the "Guest House" and it was originally built to house mill workers. That unit in the center? That's where my mother was living while my father was fighting in the Pacific in World War II. This is where she brought me home from the hospital.

OK ... let's see if someone can give me the address:

SURE ENOUGH, THERE IT WAS

John Kerry appeared on CNN this morning. He was there to push the "Bush is a liar" Democratic campaign agenda. As the interview started I made a bet with Net Dog. I had one dollar riding on my guess that Kerry, before the interview was over, would make sure to remind the audience that he served in Vietnam. Sure enough, in the last 90 seconds of the interview the words "as a Vietnam veteran" came tumbling forth. It was inevitable. I'm one dollar richer.

MORTGAGE APPLICATION

You've seen that commercial where two women are standing at side-by-side copying machines. One has a huge stack of papers to copy, the other's stack is smaller. They're copying documents for a mortgage application.

Am I the only person wondering if these two ladies are going to reimburse their boss for the cost of those personal copies they're making?

AMAZED!

More on watching CNN this morning: They were showing a clip of Vermont Congressman Bernie Sanders grilling Alan Greenspan at a hearing yesterday in Washington. Sanders was railing against millionaires and such. The CNN reporter than said that he needed to point out that Sanders is a very liberal member of the Congress. Hey, that's fine, as far as it goes, and it's probably the best we can expect from CNN. The truth, however, is that Sanders is a self-avowed socialist . Very liberal indeed!

Worried about the economy? Greenspan says it's on the edge of faster growth. Much to the dismay of the Democrats it looks like the economy will be chugging full steam ahead just in time for next year's presidential election. What a pity.

Some poor, picked-upon Muslim groups are claiming that the U.S. government is targeting Muslims for investigation ... based on their religion. Sorry .. but somehow this doesn't worry me all that much. I would be far more worried if we weren't looking at these folks.
