There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him.   -- Robert Heinlein

UH OH .. THIS DOESN'T LOOK GOOD

Well ... if the rumors pan out let's just say it doesn't look good for Democrats.

There's a bit of a buzz around Washington that our investigators in Iraq are meeting with more success than you have been lead to believe in the search for Saddam's weapons.  One rumor has it that we can expect to learn a lot more in, say, about six months.  I've been floating this idea for a few weeks not ... our D.C. pal Jamie Dupree has been pooh-poohing it.

Some might say that if Bush has the goods on Saddam now he should make the information available now.  No way, not after that ridiculous 16-word fiasco.  Cross all the "Is" and dot all the Is"  and then when you're absolutely sure .. call the press conference.

Now ... let's just say that we do discover incontrovertible proof that Saddam was building his ugly weapons.  Somehow the left is going to have to make the case that it makes no difference, and that we shouldn't have been there in the first place.  We'll leave it to Howard Dean to make that case.

QUID PRO QUO?

We keep hearing that Democrats are blocking Bush nominees to federal courts simply because the evil Republicans blocked Clinton nominees. Sound right to you?

OK ... let's just consider Michigan.

When Clinton was president he nominated eleven people from Michigan to the Court of Appeals.  Nine of them were confirmed.  When George Bush (41) was president, there were eight nominees from Michigan.  Six of these nominees were confirmed.  President Bush has nominated fine judges from Michigan in the last two and one-half years.  Not one of them has been confirmed.  All of these nominations are being blocked by Michigan's two Democratic Senators, Carl Levin and Debbie Stablenow. Now ... is this really a quid pro quo, or are the Democrats just determined to make sure that no conservatives make it to the federal appeals courts?  You know the answer, don't you?

HOW ABOUT A REAL FILIBUSTER?

The Social Democrat Party defeated, for the 7th time, a vote to end debate on the nomination of Miguel Estrada again yesterday.  The vote was 55 to end debate, 45 Democrats said no.  You need 60 votes.  The Democrats "say" they're opposed to him because he won't release his private legal memos.  So far as I know not one liberal appointee to the D.C. Court of Appeals has ever released his private legal memos.  The real reason they oppose him is because he believes in our Constitution.  They just don't want a conservative on that bench ... or any other, and they'll ignore the constitution to keep those nasty conservatives off.

Democrats are getting away with this because there is virtually no public outrage.  The Democrats are attacking our very Constitution .. and there's no outrage.  I guess too many people are busy worrying about how their favorite college football team will do this fall, or watching Entertainment Tonight on the tube.

Thus far the Democrats are filibustering Miguel Estrada and three others.  When are the Republicans going to grow a set of gonads and force the Democrats to conduct a real filibuster?  This would create news and would give the Republicans the opportunity to tell the people just what is going on here.  The Senate should meet --- and stay there, no recess, until these nominees are voted on.

And don't give me that nonsense about "well, this is what the Republicans did to Clinton.  Remember, there has NEVER been a filibuster of a judicial nominee who had the votes for confirmation.  NEVER.

NASCAR DUMPS JESSE JACKSON

No more money for Jackson's Rainbow-Push coalition from NASCAR.  It seems that NASCAR is fed up with Jackson's assertions that NASCAR is the "last bastion of white supremacy."

Good news.  The better news is that Jackson's star is falling.  More and more people and businesses are recognizing this race warlord as the shakedown artist he is.  As Jesse's flame glows dim look for him to be more and more desperate to regain some semblance of credibility and power.  His time is over ... let's hope it stays over.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Are the Democrats about to be sandbagged?  Is it possible that U.S. investigators looking for Saddam's weapons know a bit more than they're telling us?

You just have to love this paragraph from Ann Coulter's latest column:
"Hussein praised his sons for putting up a brave fight, noting that U.S. forces had surrounded their compound with advanced weaponry, ground troops and warplanes. In case that didn't work, U.S. forces were prepared to tell Janet Reno that a small Cuban boy was inside the house."  OK .. she's good.  I'm going to put that link back on my webpage where you can buy her book ... as soon as I find it.

Would you like a good explanation of that odd "betting on terror" idea the Pentagon came up with? You say, I do.  Here you go...

Now here's a good twist.  The governor of Alabama is telling his subjects that its their "Christian Duty" to accept a tax increase.  If you read this story you see one of those references to the "less fortunate."  Oh yeah, it's all about luck, isn't it?

Well, you knew it had to happen.  After those Berkeley professors released their study on conservatives, Jonah Goldberg has found a similar study on liberals.  It's worth a read, but he forgot some important qualities of liberals.  For instance, "Fear of the truth, aversion to individuality, inability to engage in logical thought and a visceral hatred of individual achievement."

George Bush is in a full scale embrace of the welfare state.  Like I said, the Democratic Party has become the Socialist Party, and the Republicans have become the Democrats.  Libertarians, anyone?

I hinted at this on the show yesterday.  Today you can read about it in The Denver Post.  There evidently was some consensual sexual contact between Kobe Bryant and his accuser before the actual "rape" occurred.  It looks like were heading for a classic "he said, she said" thing here.

Did you read Tony Blankley's "Whose side are you on?" column yesterday?  Naughty naughty.  I'm giving you a second chance.  Someone needs to ask the Democrats if they want Bush to succeed or fail in Iraq.

Have you ever noticed that police officers rarely use just the right amount of force? They either use "excessive force" or they "let the situation get out of hand."

Jack Kelly has a column in The Washington Times where he cites differences between Vietnam and Iraq... trying to show that Iraq is not another Vietnam.  In that column you will find this passage:

"The North Vietnamese and their Viet Cong allies were bright, skilled, resourceful, well-led, and very brave. In Iraq, we're fighting Arabs."

Ouch!  Do you think we'll hear anything about this from some Arab groups?

In Oakland, California if you promote the idea of a "natural family," that must mean you're a homophobe.

Come on folks.  We need to think about this one just a bit more.  What do you think of the idea that if a woman suddenly changes her mind in the middle of a sex act, at that very moment it turns from making love to rape?
