JUST HOW STRONG IS THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY?

I am and have been a registered member of the Libertarian party for about eight years. I voted libertarian many years before that. I admit to frustration when the media gives so much attention to the socialist Green Party and to Ross Perot's maniacal followers. Why not give some of that attention to Libertarians? Oh, you say that Libertarians don't have the membership and voting strength to warrant the attention: Well, please consider:
  • Across this country there are more than 340 Libertarians serving in elected office. That is more than ALL of the third parties ... COMBINED.

  • On Election Day in 2002 more than 3,424,000 people cast at least one Libertarian vote.

  • Libertarian candidates for the House of Representatives have earned over 1 million votes for two congressional elections in a row. The only other political parties to have accomplished this are the Republicans and Democrats.

  • A Libertarian candidate for president appeared on the ballot in all 50 states for the last three presidential election. No other third party has done this twice, let alone three times.

  • Several election analysts have given Libertarian voters credit for controlling the outcome of several gubernatorial and Senatorial elections in the past two years.

  • Now ... tell me what the Green Party and the Reform Party have accomplished. Well, the Reform Party did give us eight years of Bill Clinton, didn't they?

Thomas Jefferson said "God forbid we should ever be 20 years without a rebellion." We're more than 200 years overdue for ours. We're not talking about going to Washington with pitchforks and grenade launchers .. we're talking about going to the polls on election day with a determination to show these congressmen and Senators that we've had it up to here.

Year after year the American voters send about 95% of the members of congress back to their offices in Washington. If you talked to these voters they would agree with you wholeheartedly that most of these rascals need to be sent home; of them, that is, EXCEPT mine.

Every year various research organizations and think tanks publish lists of the Senators and Congressmen who seem to live to tax and spend. Do you realize what would happen if - JUST ONCE - about 50 of the biggest spending congressmen and 10 of the big spending Senators were forced into early retirement by the voters? You would see an instantaneous change in the legislative atmosphere in Washington. These politicians want to keep their jobs, and if they think taxing and spending is going to jeopardize their positions of privilege and prestige .. they'll straighten out.

Another thing ... about that Libertarian vote. I will guarantee you that if we saw about a 3% Libertarian turnout in the 2004 election Tom Daschle's eyes would bulge out like a stomped-on bullfrog. All it takes is for people who dearly love the idea of individual liberty and limited government to put aside this "you're throwing your vote away" nonsense ... and vote their conscience.

ANYONE SURPRISED HERE?

Those Georgia Bulldog football players who were suspended for selling their championship rings will get to play after all. Evidently the NCAA rule book is "unclear" on whether or not selling rings is allowed. Hell, it seems that the NCAA rule books is "unclear," as they say, about whether such things as shoplifting, assault, rape and other crimes are allowed ... so no surprise about selling rings.

MO MONEY MO MONEY

Georgia's governor has signed a law increasing taxes on a package of cigarettes by 25 cents. What a shame.

Suffer the idiots.

OK, I BELIEVE HIM

They've X-rayed Sammy Sosa's other 76 bats, and none of them contained any cork. So, OK. If Sammy says he had one corked bat that he used to give the crowd a charge during batting practice ... and if that bat was, in fact, marked "corked," then it would appear he's telling the truth. Slap him on the wrist and send him on his way.

DOES SHE KNOW WHERE THAT CAME FROM?

Would someone at Fox News Channel please tell Jennifer Griffin what "the money shot" means? It is not an appropriate reference for a handshake between the President of the United States and the leader of a foreign nation. Well ... maybe when Clinton was president, but certainly not now.

BRAVO! BRAVO! AUTHOR! AUTHOR!

Some heartfelt e-mal from a fan: (I was actually kind enough to correct punctuation and spelling errors)

You are one of the hateful, despicable, extremist idiotic persons who have access to the airwaves. All you do every day is rant and rave and spew out your venom about politicians with whom you disagree. Have you looked in the mirror lately??? Try it some time soon and even you will puke at what you see looking back at you.

Well done!

CHANGING THE TAX CODE INTO A WELFARE SYSTEM

Democrats are continuing to push their plan to send $400 for every dependent child of certain low income Americans. These Americans don't pay income taxes, yet the Democrats continue to call it a "tax cut."

There is only one major news outlet that routinely tells people that the people who are to be the beneficiaries of this Democratic welfare bill don't actually pay income taxes. This, I guess, is but one of the reasons Democrats and leftists hate the Fox News Channel so.

One Republican lawmaker got it right. These are subsidies, not tax cuts, and this is a Democratic attempt to turn out tax code into a welfare system and the IRS into a welfare agency.

A LISTENER NAILS IT

Hitlary's book.

When she runs for president this book will be her escape valve. Any question regarding her conduct .. her lies ... her behavior ... during the Clintonista regime. Every one of those questions will now be met with "That's old news, and it's covered in my book. It's time for us to move on from that. I'm here talking about the future of our children. Anyone can read my book to get answers to those tired old questions."

Yup ... "Living History" is perfect cover for her next highly controlled political campaign.

AND YOU WOULD VOTE FOR THIS PERSON?

The Hildabeast clams in her book that she believed Bill Clinton when he denied having sex with Monica Lewinsky. If so, she is the ONLY person in America with the sense to order from a McDonald's menu who did believe him. She knows him better than anyone, and she believed him? Do you really want a person this gullible running our country?

PERPS IN SUITS

I just love the pictures of criminal defendants wearing suits in court. They look about as comfortable in those suits as a linebacker in lingerie. For most of them you know it just has to be the first time since vacation Bible school in the 5thgrade.
