This past Saturday was the first Boortz Institutional at The Country Club of Ocala presented by our affiliate WSKY-FM, Sky 97.3 in Gainesville, Florida. All I can say is that it was perfect in every respect ... from the SKY 97.3 staff to the stunning Country Club of Ocala and its fine staff. What a great promotion. Thanks to all of you who worked so hard to put this on, and to those of you who joined us on the course. COULD THE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION DECISION COME TODAY The Supreme Court is nearing the end of its session and will issue some rulings today. Will one of those rulings be that University of Michigan affirmative action case? Basically ... Michigan is operating an "affirmative action" program that could be more clearly defined as a quota program. The idea is not so much as to address discrimination as it is to promote something called "diversity." The basis of all diversity movements, of course, is the recognition of individuals by their group rather than their individual status. Regarding the program of systematic racial discrimination known as "affirmative action:" The time will NEVER come when those who benefit from this program of discrimination will voluntarily step forward and say "OK, that's enough. We're ready to play by the same rules as everyone else now." If this discriminatory program ever does end, it will be at the hands of a court. Perhaps we'll take a step in that direction this week. ALSO - THAT TEXAS SODOMY LAW. It happened in Houston. Police entered a private home in answer to a burglary report. There, in the privacy of their home, the police found two men having sex. The weren't threatening anyone's life, liberty or property. A private act in a private home. But ... they were arrested and briefly detained. Sodomy is illegal in Texas only if it involves two men. Looks like Texas may have some equal protection problems here. I'm looking forward to this ruling because it will bring the homophobes out into the open. They're quite a bit of fun to watch. IRAN Two simple questions. Well, actually these are simple questions for pretty much everyone except Democrats.
WHY ARE WE SURPRISED? THEY ELECTED BILL CLINTON TWICE. Women all over the country are sending love letters to Scott Peterson. The man is on trial for murdering and dismembering his wife and his child ... and women are sending him love letters. Disgusting? You bet. But you should be more than disgusted ... you should be flat-out scared to death. Remember, these women can vote. That's how the womanizing rapist Bill Clinton made it into the White House ... twice. ONLY POOR PEOPLE WORK Has this ever happened to you? You're reading the letters to the editor. Suddenly you come across a letter so vapid you have to pause for a moment to pray that the writer has never registered to vote. I saw such a letter from one Carolyn Sharp in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution this morning. Ms. Sharp is upset because some of us believe that tax cuts should go to people who actually pay taxes. Here's the letter: I am sick and tired of people who say, "If they didn't pay taxes, they shouldn't get a check." Just because some folks are unlucky enough to be poor, the rich folks decide they are not "entitled" to help? What has become of our country? It is time we put some folks in office who will represent the working people. And just because some folks are less fortunate than others, why begrudge them a little help? I get tired of hearing it called a "handout." While there are some who do take advantage of the situation, many others would much rather be working for a decent wage. Put yourself in the other person's shoes for a while. Then be thankful for what you have, not greedy. CAROLYN SHARP, Snellville I've highlighted a few words for you. Note, please, that Ms. Sharp believes that those who are rich got that way because they were lucky. If you're poor it's because you're not lucky. Hard work has nothing to do with it. Education has nothing to do with it. Job skills don't count, nor does good decision-making. It's all just based on luck. If you're poor it's not because you ignored your education, and it's not because you make stupid decisions. All you needed was a little luck. Note also that Ms. Sharp promotes that leftist screed that only poor people work. The poor are the "working people." The rich? They don't actually work. They just sit back and enjoy their good luck. Then we have the kicker. The "G" word. Greed. If you want to keep more of the money you earn you are greedy. Ms. Sharp begins here letter with "I am sick and tired of people who ... " Well, Ms. Sharp. I'm sick and tired of whiners who don't recognize the value of hard work and the right of people who will go the extra mile and do what it takes to become successful in this country to be protected from the plunder of those who won't. Do us all a favor, Ms. Sharp. Write all the inane letters you want. Just stay away from the polls on election day. THE INEVITABILITY OF SOCIALIZED MEDICINE As you know, it is my firm belief that socialized medicine is a certainty in the United States. Along with that socialized medicine we'll see a decrease in the quality of medical care, long waiting periods for most elective surgeries and absolutely hideous costs. This whole process is about to be accelerated by the adoption of this hideously expensive (not to mention unneeded) prescription drug benefit for Medicare. Here's something else for you to consider. Genetic testing. As science advances genetic testing is going to become more widely available. People will be able to undergo tests which could serve to predict the probability of several rather sever diseases. So, the question is whether or not insurance companies will be able to perform these tests on those who apply for coverage? Obviously a health insurance company isn't going to what to write a policy for someone with strong genetic markers for a costly disease. The general thought is that insurance companies would not be allowed to run the tests. But what about individuals? We could all have those tests run, and those among us with markers for some rather bad diseases could run out and load up on all kinds of insurance ... health and life! We would have more information than the insurance company would. Not exactly an equitable situation, is it? So, the solution? Ted Kennedy's wet-dream. Universal coverage mandated and regulated by government. Universal coverage ... the next step to full socialized medicine. OK --- SO THE NOTES ARE SOMEWHAT DRY TODAY Hey ... I was enjoying my weekend. You got a problem with that? READING ASSIGNMENTS What did Al Qaeda have in store for the U.S.? A former operations chief tells the tale. http://www.washtimes.com/national/20030616-012811-3781r.htm Friday's Best of the Web. http://www.opinionjournal.com/best/?id=110003626 Right now it looks like the Republicans may strengthen their hold on the U.S. Senate in 2004. A high school graduation in Miami where MOST of the participating Seniors didn't graduate. http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news/0603/15fcat.html OK .. so they haven't found any WMDs in Iraq yet. This is a big deal to Democrats. It really isn't that big a deal to many others. And why not? Because American value the concept of human rights ... and they know that removing Saddam Hussein was the appropriate thing to do. http://www.opinionjournal.com/wsj/?id=110003630 Is anyone fooled by the claim that the mainstream media in this country isn't liberal? http://www.opinionjournal.com/extra/?id=110003631 If the US is dedicated to the idea of peace in the Middle East, it may well be necessary to eliminate those who stand in the way .. and that would be Hamas ... and that would also be Yassir Afafat, who, by the way, is an Egyptian, not a "Palestinian." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A61545-2003Jun15.html For there to be any peace in the Middle East, the Arabs are going to have to accept the existence of Israel. The mob turned out to be around 100 people, many of whom were the organizers. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=33094 Cynthia Tucker gets one right, adding further anecdotal evidence to the validity of the blind pig theory. http://www.ajc.com/sunday/content/epaper/editions/sunday/opinion_e3bece3971ff90ce001f.html The Democrats continue their filibuster of Bush judicial nominees. Some would tell you that there is precedent for this. They're wrong. There is no precedent. The difference here is that there are a majority of Senators who would vote FOR confirmation ... if they could vote.
