HERE COMES THE PUSH TO GET ADULTS ON ADD DRUGS Pharmaceutical companies pull down about $600,000,000 in profits from pathetic parents who have bought into the phony ADD/ADHD craze. Congress is presently considering legislation that would prohibit government schools from requiring psychotropic medication of students for this phony disorder. Perhaps the drug companies are worried about a drop in sales. It looks like they're going to try to make up for by convincing adults that they, too, have ADD. Here's a website from Eli Lilly and Company. Hey .. if Ritalin is good enough for your kid, why don't you go to this website and take their screener test? Maybe you could join your poor kid every morning in a drugging ritual!http://www.adultadd.com/index.jsp Come on, Mom and Dad! Enjoy a daily Ritalin dose with your kids! The family that does drugs together stays together. SO, YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IMMIGRATION? So, you don't like all those illegal aliens in your community? Hey, I sympathize. But I do want you to consider one question. Would you, if you could, push a button that would turn the INS loose in your community? Would you push that button if every single illegal immigrant in your community would be rounded up and shipped out in 24 hours? Go ahead! Do it and watch residential construction grind to an immediate halt. Watch people lose their deposits on new homes as builders go bankrupt. Watch the price of those homes that are completed increase by as much as 20 percent or more. Get a clue. Those illegal immigrants are there because there is a demand for them. You have heard of the law of supply and demand, haven't you? And don't give me that nonsense about taking jobs away from U.S. citizens. Those U.S. citizens you're talking about just flat don't want to do those jobs. Too much like work. When some Americans start to re-discover a little thing known as "work ethic" you might see a bit of a drop in illegal immigrants. DESTROY COMPUTERS? Utah Senator Orrin Hatch is the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Right now that committee is looking into ways to prevent citizens from downloading copyrighted music onto their computers without paying for it. There are several ideas out there for "frustrating," as they call it, computer users who make illegal downloads. Sorry .. I'm on the side of the artists on this one. They write and perform those songs to make money. It's their living. Face facts. If you download one of those songs without paying for it .. you've stolen their work. Now, for the controversy. Orrin Hatch is interested in exploring ways that a copyright holder might "damage" a computer making an illegal download. He said "If we can find some way to do this without destroying their machines, we'd be interested in hearing about that. If that's the only way, then I'm all for destroying their machines." You know what? I don't think that's such a bad idea. Stealing is stealing. TWO THINGS THAT ARE NOT GOING TO CHANGE Clip this. Write this down. Put this on your 'fridge. Carve it into stone. Your Talkmaster is about to present to you two things that are NEVER going to change. You can protest, yell, scream, vote, pray, urge, beg, implore, deplore, and hold your breath until you cover every part of the visible spectrum ... but these two things are NEVER going to change.
So .. for you Flaggots out there, and for the anti-choice crowd, you would be well advised to accept reality and start to put your political efforts into areas where you actually might have a chance of making a difference. This, by the way, applies to George Bush too. You might be able to nominate a Supreme Court Justice who realizes that our government is based on the rule of law, and who actually believes that our Constitution is worthy of respect; and you might have a chance of getting that nominee confirmed. Those chances diminish, however, if you appoint some vocal anti-abortion zealot to the court. Democrats will fight it, and the Democrats will have enough support from the people to carry the day. If the left actually succeeds in destroying our Constitution, our freedoms and our economic liberty, much of the blame will rest on the anti-abortion zealots out there who aren't intelligent enough to realize that their battle is lost. Now ... some of you are going to want to call to discuss this. Remember, we never discuss the pros and cons of abortion on the program. We CAN discuss how abortion politics affects Supreme Court nominations ... but the second you get into an argument about whether or not abortion should be legal ... hellllloooooo dial tone. APPEARING IN THE CURRENT ISSUE OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE (VA.) WEEKLY A letter to the editor of a Charlottesville, Va. newspaper: " Brad Eure owner of WINA is quoted in the cover story of your June 10 issue (CVILLE 20) as saying: [I learned to do broadcasting by being involved in the community, to reflect the mores of the community in the programming]. I wonder how Eure reconciles his view of community broadcasting with the nine hours of prime time right wing radio that WINA carries (Neal Boortz, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage) daily on the public airwaves. How does this hateful vitriol consisting largely of GOP talking points provided to the far right talking heads by the Republican National Committee that spews forth daily from AM 1070 reflect the [mores of the community]? Does Eure believe that this unbalanced and ultraconservative invective contributes to the greater good of the Charlottesville community? While unchecked anger may sell airtime by appealing to our most base emotions, does it serve to bring people together to solve problems? Eure's hypocrisy on the issue of being involved in the community and reflecting the mores of the community renders him unworthy of being named one of your C-VILLE 20. I choose to boycott AM 1070 and its advertisers in protest of the one sided tripe aired on the station and would encourage others who are upset by the programming on WINA to do likewise." Jeffrey Fracher Charlottesville So ... What's missing from Jeffrey's letter? It seems he couldn't come up with one single issue that I've presented on the air that he has any disagreement with ... or to which he would like to express a differing viewpoint. This, my friends, is typical of the left. He can yell "right wing radio" all day long ... but has no desire to actually get into a discussion of the issues involved. OK ... SO I'M HAVING A SELF-SERVING MOMENT But ... I just have to do this. It's an e-mail I received about my last book, "The Terrible Truth About Liberals." Hello Neil, My wife and I sent my father-in-law, Vern, a copy of The Truth About Liberals. He called me just now. He said he is studying the book. Understand that he is not just reading it, because, essentially, it is worthy of more thought than a book that one simply reads. Do you know how when you are speaking to someone over the phone and you can actually HEAR them smiling, or, in this case BEAMING with happiness? Well, that is how the phone call was. He was happy that you hit the nail on the head on so many issues. He had not heard of you before, even though he is a strong Republican (I know you are a Libertarian) and listens to Rush and Hannity regularly. I think the problem here (that resulted in him not having heard of you before) comes from the region (Western New York) having a very large proportion of Democrats. Naturally, large numbers of Democrats are not going to be as receptive to spreading your word and that of others like yourself. His plan is to spend some money and purchase 20-30 or so of The Truth About Liberals for strategic distribution. I think such a step will do nothing but educate and provoke thought in some otherwise quality people. READING ASSIGNMENTS Yesterday we had one of those tired old callers who complained about how poor workers are so horribly exploited by their corporate masters. You know the drill. Usually the people you hear voicing this complaint are those who have discovered they don't have either the temperament or the job skills to make any real money out there. This article should put that tired exploitation argument to rest. http://www.washtimes.com/commentary/20030616-093350-3933r.htm Government schools are exhibiting their shortcomings across the nation. Children aren't learning. Many parents are pulling their children out of government schools to educate them at home .. and these parents are under assult. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/davidlimbaugh/dl20030618.shtml Da Chief Moose is going ahead with the publication of his book. Montgomery County ethics regulations? What regulations? So, what do his own employees and constituents think about Da Chief Moose? http://www.townhall.com/columnists/michellemalkin/mm20030618.shtml Here's Tuesday's Best of the Web. Read about France's support for the terrorist organizaton Hamas. http://www.opinionjournal.com/best/?id=110003639 The leftist media and the socialist Democrats are missing the mark. Not that they really care. Excellent piece from Tony Blankley. http://www.washtimes.com/op-ed/20030617-094526-5858r.htm Look what's shown up on the msnbc.com website. This ought to send O'Reilly spinning like a gyroscope. http://www.msnbc.com/news/856672.asp In Cleveland, Ohio they have a rather interesting way of celebrating May Day. In some parts of the community May 1stis "Beat Up a White Kid Day." Eighteen black and Hispanic kids, both girls and boys, celebrated this day by beating a 13-year-old white girl. The girls is still receiving medical treatment. http://www.cleveland.com/search/index.ssf?/base/cuyahoga/1055583495271973.xml?ncounty_cuyahoga Here's another Internet animated feature from the Democratic National Committee. This ought to give you some idea of how frightened the left is that George Bush might actually appoint a Supreme Court Justice who believes in the United States Constitution. Remember, leftists depend on judicial fiat to enact their big-government agenda. http://www.democrats.org/scotus/bushenstein.html Income inequality does not equal poverty. Did you know that the typical person in the poorest 1/5thof US households spends as much as a person of average wealth in the early 1970's? And yes .. that IS adjusted for inflation. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/jonahgoldberg/jg20030618.shtml |
