DEMOCRATS ACTING LIKE DEMOCRATS

Early Thursday morning when these notes were first posted I included this prediction:

----------------------------------------------------------

SOME DEMOCRAT IS GOING TO CRITICIZE THIS.

George Bush is going to fly to an aircraft carrier hundreds of miles off the coast of California today. He'll be in the co-pilot's seat of a Navy S-3B Viking. You must know that the Secret Service is going nuts over this one, and that there's one slightly anxious Navy pilot sweating bullets in the ready room right now.

This little presidential adventure is creating quite a stir in the media and with many Americans. This will promote the image of a robust and strong leader .. an image that will resonate with millions of Americans, especially during a time when appreciation for our military is at an all-time high. So ... look for Democrats to try to find a way to bust this bubble. Maybe they'll criticize him for taking the risk. Perhaps the word "irresponsible" will creep into the dialogue. They might try to play off the"cowboy" thing trying to show that Bush is more interested with military playthings than he is in foreign policy. At any rate, they can't allow this to go by without a challenge.

----------------------------------------------------------

Well ... it didn't take long. Democrats are already calling Bush's trip a "stunt." And then there's this: You've heard me talk about the Democratic Underground. This is an internet message board and chat room for stalwart Demcorats. If you ever want to really experience the seething hatred that Democrats feel for George Bush, or for conservatives in general, just pay a visit to http://www.democraticunderground.com.

Now .. if you had visited Thursday Afternoon you would have seen a discussion thread about Bush's arrival on the USS Abraham Lincoln. Here's the link, though it no longer works.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/duforum/DCForumID70/746.html. The link no longer works because the DU moderators have a habit of removing some of the worst behavior of their member Democrats. Despair not, Nuze readers, for I, your Talkmaster, copied some of the comments yesterday afternoon and present them here for your shock and amusement:

Yuck!! have you heard how Bush will arrive on the carrier tonight? "He will arrive dramatially in a four-seat aircraft rather than the more typical marine helicopter." according to ABC News the Note. The White House is confident that such a dramatic arrival will guarantee more great film auch as when Bush addressed Fire Fighters and other rescue workers at Ground Zero after 9/11. I suppose the press will have one big collective orgasm tonight. Now if he wanted to be really dramatic he would fly that four-seat aircraft on deck himself since he is supposed to have been a pilot. I think I'll be checking out Gilligan while this absurdity is going on.

10. there is no chance.
have you forgotten? the son of god cannot die..geez i thought everyone knew that. i thought he would walk to the ship, can`t he walk on water?

18. He has no f***ing business doing that
If there's anything a president should know, it's that the office he occupies is far more important than he is, and he can't jeopardize it by risking his neck in some jackass PR stunt. God, I hate that idiot...

22. John F. Kerry, that's why.
Proves how scared they are of having to face a real veteran. They have to make W. do something as stupid and useless as this stunt. It's nice of shrub to stand man to man with America's soldiers, but he's 30 years too late. It's easy to do when you know no one will be shooting at you and your life's not at risk. And you are POTUS and every possible precaution is taken to make sure you don't get your stupid ass killed. It's absolutely pathetic that he is doing this.

I have one question: How much is this idiotic stunt costing American taxpayers? You know if Gore did it they'd have a full accounting complete with press conference.

2. They should play some rousing march music
Those old Nazi movies were really good propaganda and I'm sure Rove is studying them for tips on how to provide "atmosphere".

20. "Triumph of the Will"
If memory serves, this Riefenstahl docu about the Nuremberg Rally begins with a bird's-eye view as Hitler's plane descends into the city. Is this right?

7. I wonder how much it's costing...
you Americans to have 'dickhead' give a speech that will mean and say nothing from the deck of a carrier. The cost of organising such a blatantly empty propaganda piece must be staggering.

15. any chance the jet could miss the deck?
wishfull thinking on my part, won't be watching anyhow!

29. Technically, it will be Navy One and it isn't a fighter.
I imagine quite a few presidents have gone up into the cockpit of the ususal Air Force One. Everyone wants to sit in a cockpit, and when you got the power to make it happen, why wouldn't you? But I think it would be the first official time the Preisdent occupied the co-pilot seat for the duration of a flight. Which makes me wonder. If the President is the co-pilot, and the pilot suffers a medical emergancy, who's gonna fly the plane? W was drunk his entire time training for the Air Guard, and it is doubtful even if he learned anything 30 years ago, would be able to fly this plane today.

23. Skivvy check...
Hope there's some photos of the brown stain around Shrubbie's puckered ass!

27. LOOKIE! Me can do the militry stuff too! Not just Kerry!
This is all about John Kerry. Who needs veterans who actually served in the military when you've got smartasses who fly planes just for fun??? Now, if only someone will talk about George being AWOL!

33. Deus Ex Machina?
nah, that's probably too literary and erudite a reference for the Bushies, but it's exactly what came to my mind: the man who believes he is carrying out God's will is dropped from the heavens onto the aircraft carrier into the arms of mere mortal men who worship and adore him...

At this point the DU moderator stepped in and locked down the discussion thread. These are the people who want to gain control of our government so they can direct your personal lives.

OH THOSE POOR, POOR PITIFUL POOR PEOPLE

What is the number-one area for fraud and cheating on income tax returns. That one's easy. It's the insipid "Earned Income Tax Credit." This income redistribution program takes money from people who actually worked for and earned it and gives it to people who neither worked for nor earned it. This program costs American taxpayers about $32 billion a year. About one-third of those payments are fraudulent --- made to people who have, in one way or another, cheated and lied on their income tax returns so they can get their hands on a check.

Well, the leftist Atlanta Journal-Constitution's lead editorial this morning is complaining about new IRS requirements for people who claim the EITC. And just what is the big problem? It seems that the IRS is going to ask these people for marriage and birth certificates. Oh my God! How oppressive! These cheats are claiming dependent children in order to get their income redistribution check, and the IRS wants them to either prove that they're married to the child's mother or father, or that the child is actually theirs if they're not married, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution thinks that this is just completely awful!

Lesson: Never, ever get in the way of a government income redistribution check. Liberals don't like it.

UNIONS FIRST, CHILDREN SECOND

We now have the mayor of Washington D.C. endorsing vouchers for D.C. students. Wouldn't you know it, though. Eleanor Holmes Norton, the D.C. Delegate to the U.S. Congress, is outraged. Eleanor, after all, is a Democrat. With Democrats it's always teacher's unionsfirst, the children second.

And what about the unions? Well you just know they have to be upset with this. Here is the statement from one Sandra Feldman, the president of the American Federation of Teachers:

"It is disingenuous at best and duplicitous at worst to siphon money from the District's public schools to finance vouchers for private school education when there is already a proposal to cut $100 million from the city's school budget. If voucher advocates really want to help students and strengthen D.C. schools, they should stand with the citizens and teachers of Washington, D.C., who oppose private school vouchers and support the use of effective educational programs and strategies."

Oh wow! So that's it! Thank you so very much, Ms.Feldman, for giving us the secret of good education! All we need is support for the use of effective educational programs and strategies! And just how many years have you and your fellow unionized educators had to implement these wonderful effective educational programs and strategies? And for how many years has the quality of education been steadily declining in this country?

Americans are almost unanimous in their disgust with government schools. Now if Americans would unite in there determination to reduce the power and influence wielded by teacher's unions they might actually be able to do something about it.

INTEMPERATE THOUGHTS

  • Turkeys seem to be a bit upset with the response of their government to that ugly earthquake they had there the other day. Golly, wouldn't it be handy to have a great friend like the United States returning some recent favors by pitching in with some serious help?
  • We can now stop being angry about Natalie Maine's stupid comments about President Bush. We can stop because we're going to need that time to talk about those absolutely butt-ugly, grotesque hair styles they were sporting at their opening concert in Greenville, South Carolina last night.
  • There were four arresting cables on that aircraft carrier. The president's plane was supposed to snag the third one. It didn't. It caught number four. If Navy 1 had missed number four (a "bolter") the Democrats would have had a field day. Know this; the pilot of Navy 1 is never going to live down missing number three.
  • There is a growing sense of awareness in Washington and elsewhere that the Congress made a horrible mistake when they federalized airport and airline security. Well ... too late now. When's the last time you ever saw a massive federal bureaucracy like the TSA dismantled?

READING ASSIGNMENTS

We're already seeing benefits to the liberation of Iraq. The U.S. military is pulling out of Saudi Arabia.

Americans disagree on almost everything. There is, though, one topic that brings almost unanimous agreement among Americans coast-to-coast. Our government schools are really terrible.

Day by day more information pours out of Iraq. Information on just who it was out there helping Saddam maintain his reign of terror over Iraqi citizens. We find these people everywhere, in Europe, and even in the United States.

Are American taxpayers funding anti-American demonstrations in foreign countries? You would think not, wouldn't you? Oh come on now. Have you been keeping an eye on how your taxpayer dollars are spent lately? http://www.washtimes.com/op-ed/20030502-15851616.htm

Now, after 14 years, we're getting a story from former ABC correspondent Peter Collins that Peter Jennings would rewrite scripts in order to praise the Sandanista government in Nicaragua.

So, you think that it is wrong for the United States to declare itself outside of the jurisdiction of the U.N. World Court and the international criminal court? Read what some former Saddam supporters are trying to do to General Tommy Franks, and then tell me how the U.S. should surrender its sovereignty to foreign or international courts.

The leftist media can't get enough of the looting in Iraq. What about the looting going on here at home? Wait a minute! Those are liberals doing that looting! Might as well leave it alone. Here's Michelle Malkin.

Before the war ... it was going to be like Vietnam. After the war, it's going to be like Iran. The critics just can't accept that maybe this thing worked! http://www.townhall.com/columnists/charleskrauthammer/ck20030502.shtml

Which way should our legal system operate? Should everything be legal unless it is specifically declared illegal? Or should every act be deemed to be illegal unless there is a law specifically authorizing the act? In America we're moving from one system to the other. Can you guess from which to which? http://www.washtimes.com/commentary/20030502-4984405.htm

Thomas Sowell brings you some statistics that leftists and Democrats will never willing publicize. You hear Democrats slamming Bush's tax cuts as breaks for his millionaire friends. It's a lie. Read on ... .
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/thomassowell/ts20030502.shtml

Do I believe this? Not necessarily. But there is a report out there that U.S. Special Forces may have captured Osama Bin Laden. What a bummer this would be ... for Democrats.
