"I'll try to be nicer, If you try to be smarter"

BOORTZ IN DAYTON, OHIO THIS SATURDAY!!

I'm honored to have been invited by the Libertarian Party of Ohio to speak at their annual banquet in Dayton on May 10th! For information about the convention and how to be there for my stellar presentation visit http://www.lpo.org/LPO2003Convention.htm

ANOTHER EXCUSE FOR ME TO BRING UP THESE PHONY DISEASES

There was testimony before a house committee yesterday on the mass druggings of our school children. The testimony was before a house panel considering legislation that would prohibit government schools from requiring mind-altering drugs be administered to schools if they are to remain in class. The panel heard testimony to the effect that about 2% of government schoolchildren are difficult to manage because they're overactive or not attentive, yet we're drugging about 17% of schoolchildren.

I'm sure this doesn't apply to you though, does it? You're child needs those drugs, doesn't he? Oh yeah, your child is one of the 2%, so that makes you a good parent. It's all the other children that don't need the drugs. Yeah, right

HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS?

Last night I caught just a few minutes of Hannity & Colmes on Fox News. There were two congresswomen on the screen arguing economic plans, one Republican and one Democrat. I have no idea who the Democrat was. I do know what she was, or at least what she appeared to be. Either an idiot or a demagogue.

This woman was delivering that stock Democratic Party line about George Bush "giving money away" to evil rich people with his tax cuts. She then promoted the Democratic idea of sending $300 checks to lower income people, people, by the way, who don't even pay income taxes.

Let's review:
  1. The Republican plan is to lower tax rates, thereby allowing people to keep more of them money they earn. Nothing is "given" to these people. They just have less taken out of their paychecks than before. This is categorized by Democrats as "giving money away to rich people."

  2. The Democrat plan is to write $300 checks to individuals ($600 for married couples) who do not pay federal income taxes. In order for the Democrats to do this they will first have to take money away from the people who actually worked for it. The Democrats do not categorize this as "giving money away." They call it a tax cut.

Anyone with a third-grade understanding of the English language would understand that the language is being horribly misused here.

I asked how they can get away with it.

Actually, I know the answer. They get away with this because of the abysmal level of economic ignorance among the government-educated masses in this country.

A NEW ENTITLEMENT?

By the way, the Democrats have floated this $300 check idea for low income earners so many times that we are in danger of this becoming another federal entitlement? In addition to all the "refundable" tax credits, the hideous Earned Income Tax Credit and other handout programs, are we soon to have a regular $300 check to every low income earner in the country? Can't you see the campaign ads of the future? "If Republicans win they're going to take away your annual $300 checks!" We'll also see promises in campaigns to raise the amount of the annual government check. "Vote for us and get $400 a year!"

WHY DO WE HAVE TO GO OVER THIS TIME AND TIME AGAIN?

Well, the answer to that question is clear. We have to go over this time after time because there are certain people out there, we'll call them "liberals," who are still in a state of despair and shock over President Bush's successful removal of Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq and the liberation of the Iraqi people.

Day after day we read newS stories, columns and various opinion pieces from the Molly Ivins brigade trumpeting Bush's failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. This presumably means that the entire Iraqi effort was illegitimate and, perhaps, that Bush ought to be defeated in 2004, at best, or impeached, at worst for his failure.

OK, folks. One more time .. by the numbers ...
  1. Both the UN and the United States had knowledge of Saddam's WMDs.
  2. The UN ordered Saddam to destroy his WMDs.
  3. Saddam agreed to destroy his WMDs.
  4. Saddam agreed to provide evidence of the destruction of his WMDs
  5. Before destroying his WMDs Saddam kicked the UN inspectors out of Iraq.
  6. After Saddam kicked out the inspectors there was evidence that he began a program to hide his WMDs
  7. Saddam now claims that he destroyed his WMDs, after he kicked out the weapons inspectors.
  8. Saddam has never failed any evidence that he destroyed the WMDs.
  9. Three UN resolutions, Numbers 678, 687 and 1441 authorize either the UN or any member state to use force against Saddam Hussein if he fails to abide by his agreements to destroy his WMDs, and to document that destruction.
  10. The United States, Great Britain, Australia, Spain and about 38 other nations banded together to act against Saddam in compliance with those three UN resolutions.

It's just that easy. Any questions?

BOB GRAHAM?

A little strange, and generally unqualified.

Any politician who steps forward to claim that Bush engineered the war in Iraq as vengeance for a attempt on his father's life is not qualified to serve in public office, let alone as our president. Graham's real quest is to parlay Florida's electoral strength into a vice presidential nod.

BYRD BLASTS BUSH

Wizened Democrat Robert Byrd, the King of Pork, is slamming George Bush for his visit to the USS Abraham Lincoln last week. Democrats are mightily upset over this appearance. Why? Because it worked. People liked seeing the Commander in Chief arriving on that jet and greeting the men and woman who had just achieved a spectacular success in Iraq.

I do have a question though. I know that I can't read every story in every newspaper, and I may have missed something, but can anyone tell me if they've seen one reminder in any major media outlet about Bill Clinton's visit to the USS Theodore Roosevelt, another aircraft carrier, for a speech in 1993? Also, let's check to see if Byrd blasted Clinton for that "stunt."

OLYMPIA SNOWE - TAX CUT OBSTRUCTOR

She's one of the Republican Senators who is standing in the way of Bush's tax cut in the U.S. Senate. Maine's Senator Snowe says she will only support $350 billion in tax relief. She says that "W need to use our federal dollars for an immediate impact on the economy" Do you see the problem here? Senator Snowe seems to believe that the only way a dollar can have an immediate impact on our economy is if that dollar is spent by government, and here you have an essential difference between Democrats and those who want to keep more of their own money. Democrats - and, apparently, Olympia Snowe -- believe that a dollar spent by government benefits the economy more than a dollar spent by the person who earned it. Don't you think we need more of these people in office?

The Democrats see that all of the dire warnings they issued about a war in Iraq turned out to be false. Uh oh, there's an election coming. Time to change sides. Maybe the voters won't remember how they fought the liberation of the Iraqi people.
