THUS SAYETH THE AYATOLLAH The premier holy weird beard in Iran says that the United States is biased against the Arab world. He also says that we're acting unilaterally against terrorism. So, I guess the standard here is that when America is attacked by Arab terrorists the proper response is to (a) not be suspicious of Arabs, even Arabs chanting "death to the USA!" and (b) to only act against the terrorists if we can get some other countries to join us. You would have to go to have gone to a government school to accept that nonsense. Speaking of Iran, the Bush administration says it is not allow an Iran-style Islamic hell-hole in Iraq. Good idea. This is the type of society that breeds terrorism against the United States .. why allow it to germinate in Iraq? GRAB A SIX-PACK, PARK THE CAMERO AND GRAB THE REMOTE Just in case you think that all is well in our world, you should know that there's a pay-per-view bit playing on DirectTV right now called "Ghetto Brawls." It's nothing but videos of street fights. There's also "Brawlin' Broads" where you can see women fighting one another. People are actually going to pay to watch this stuff. These are the types of people you want to have working for you ... right? I REALLY DON'T THINK YOU'RE GOING TO BELIEVE THIS ONE Setting the scene: We have a middle school in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. A young girl decides to bestow a Lewinsky on a young boy in the class. They're caught. Both are suspended. Now we have the boy's parents filing a lawsuit against the school. They say that their son is a "victim" in this incident. And why a victim? Because when the girl pulled opened up his pants and started to administer the Lewinsky he, the boy, had no legal duty under the law to resist her. Since he had no legal duty to resist, or so the theory goes, he can't be punished for not resisting. What we have here is another example of why we need a "loser pays" legal system, as well as an example of how out-of-control our victim mentality has become. Now --- we wonder what happens if you ask a girl to "victimize" you. In this day and age, probably nothing. YOU MAY THINK THIS IS AN UNIMPORTANT STORY.. .. and, of course, you would be wrong. A U.S. Supreme Court has decided to refuse to hear an appeal of a lower court ruling on the issue of ATM fees. The cities of San Francisco and Santa (Soviet) Monica were trying to ban banks from charging non-customers from using their ATMs. This was a big issue back in 1999. Various Kalifornia consumer "advocates" were trying to outlaw the practice of banks charging non-customers to use their machines. When the various city ordinances were passed some banks responded by simply making it impossible for non-customers to use their ATMs. Oh, did the howling start then. Now the Supremes have upheld a ruling saying that the charges are perfectly legal. The so called "advocates" say that they're now going to lobby for a federal law. Good luck. This issue is a great indication as to just how far the idiot virus has spread in our country. A bank goes out and spends the money for the computers, machines and telephone lines necessary to put these machines around the countryside. The bank then hires personnel to service these machines. Then along come the consumer advocates who believe that once the banks have spent all of this money they ought to offer the use of the machines to people who aren't even customers of these banks .. fornothing! Just amazing. THE CHECKS ARE ON THE WAY! George Bush will sign the tax cut bill today .. and the Treasury Department will immediately start printing out those $400 checks for people who claimed children as dependents on their last income tax return. This is called a "credit." In many cases it is not. It's also called a "rebate." Again, in many cases it is not. I know ... you're tired of hearing this. Sorry. Every time I bring this up I imagine that someone out there sits up and says "Is he serious? I didn't know that!" These checks are going to be sent to parents regardless of whether or not they actually paid any federal income tax. This means that someone, a parent with two children for instance, who paid absolutely no federal income taxes last year - not one penny - will get a check from the feds for $800. Where does that money come from? It comes from someone who actually DID pay federal income taxes last year. It's not a "credit" because there are no tax payments to credit the checks to. It is not a "rebate" because there were no taxes paid from with to issue a rebate. So, just what is it? Income redistribution. Pure and simple income redistribution. It is the government seizing property from someone whom the government has determined should not be allowed to keep what they earn, and then giving that property to someone the government has determined worthy of money earned by someone else. Now that our government so boldly seizes income for redistribution - all for political gain - where will it end? The only thing that politicians need to do is to be careful that they seize the money from people who's votes they don't need .. and then transfer that money to people who's votes they do need. READING ASSIGNMENTS Canada is proposing a new marijuana law that eliminates criminal records for possession of small amounts. This makes Bush Administration officials antsy and me glad. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A43986-2003May27.html Sidney Blumenthal has written a book. After reading the book you may well wonder just what universe Blumenthal inhabits. http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110003550 Has there been an "epidemic" of hate crimes against Muslims since 9-11? Michelle Malkin corrects the record. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/michellemalkin/mm20030528.shtml This is great --- it's a chronology of what really happened during the Clinton years. Read this to reinforce that feeling you have that Bill Clinton was a dishonest, corrupt, lying sleaze-bag. http://www.opinionjournal.com/extra/?id=110003549 Is California's governor really "scared to death" of that recall drive against him? Wasn't it just a few years ago we were hearing that he was the Democrat's next golden boy? http://www.newsmax.com/showinsidecover.shtml?a=2003/5/27/125304 This is a good column by Ilana Mercer .. about exporting high-tech jobs from the United States. http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=32789 Affirmative action grading ... here's how it would work in colleges and universities. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/walterwilliams/ww20030528.shtml Tony Blankley says that the road ahead for Democrats is going to be rather bumpy. Well, imagine my distress. They deserve no less. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/tonyblankley/tb20030528.shtml It won't be long now until the Supremes come out with their ruling on the University of Michigan's affirmative action program. Here are two columns for you to read on that subject. First, Mona Charen wants the Supreme Court to show some courage in their ruling: http://www.townhall.com/columnists/monacharen/mc20030527.shtml. And Linda Chavez says the court's eventual ruling will be based on incomplete and misleading information: http://www.townhall.com/columnists/lindachavez/lc20030528.shtml Did you know that Representative Sam Farr flies the flag of the United Nations at the entrance of his Capitol Hill office? Now ... can you guess what particular party Farr represents? Yes, you probably can, and you may even be able to guess what part of the country he represents. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=32777 |
