THANK YOU MS. CARPENTER

Every once in a while you run into a customer service agent who knows her stuff and earns her salary ... and more.  Last evening as I was getting ready to do some preparation for today's show I found I had no phone or DSL service.  Not good. So .. here goes the call to customer service.  Sprint customer service.  Ms. Carpenter comes on the line .. we straighten out the problem .. and she says that she will stay late to baby-sit my account to make sure the phones are turned on overnight and ready to rip when I get up at 4:30 this morning to pick up where I left off.  Well ... she did it.  Isn't that amazing?  Customer service that actually services the needs of the customer.  If I knew where Ms. Carpenter was (working out of Tampa, I think) I would send her some flowers.

Of course ... the lack of a computer last night didn't help me generate any real notes for this morning.  Whatchagonnado?

BEER, BARBEQUE AND BOORTZ

My friends at WAYY AM 790 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin are hosting a little "Beer, Barbeque and Boortz" outing today.  So here's a shout out to John Murphy, Bruce Butler, the rest of the WAYY gang and the people of Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls.  Two things:  First, I want a case of that special beer you're talking about.  Two, if you do this next year I want to be there!

AND AFTER TODAY'S SHOW

A "meet & greet" with my WINK - WNOG listeners in the Naples, Ft. Meyers area!

MORNING SICKNESS - Wynonna Judd's mugshot [not safe for eyes]

THE FILIBUSTER SESSION

Well, at least more Americans know that Democrats are filibustering George Bush's nominees to federal appeals court benches.  Democrats are saying that these candidates don't meet the approval of the American people.  What a crock.  California Supreme Court Justice Janice Rogers Brown, whom Bush nominated to the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, gets 76% of the vote from the liberal voting population of California --- and Democrats say that she's out of the mainstream?

The purpose of this marathon session engineered in the Senate was to wake the American people up.  It won't work.  Trust me, Americans were far more interested in finding an internet site where they could watch the Paris Hilton sex video* than they were in trying to figure out what the Democrats and Republicans were up to in Washington.

This is all very boring, and very very important.  It is clear that politicians have expanded the reach and power of the Imperial Federal Government far beyond anything contemplated by our founding fathers or set forth in our Constitution.   You could never find anything in the constitution, for instance, that could be construed to allow the federal government to punish a citizen of some state for a crime committed under the laws of that state simply because of what the citizen was thinking when he committed that crime.  Nor could you find anything in our constitution that permits a local government to discriminate for or against a citizen on the basis of skin color -- a practice that today's courts have embraced.

For decades liberals have been unable to enact some of the more important parts of their leftist agenda in the legislative arena.  To enact their agenda they have had to rely on activist judges who would ignore the constitution to implement liberal goals.  George Bush has a nasty proclivity to appoint federal judges who believe that our Constitution is, indeed, the supreme law of the land.  Liberal initiatives cannot stand constitutional muster, and this means that they will not survive a federal appeals court judge who strictly construes our Constitution.  Thus, they must be blocked.

Just listen to California hyper-leftist Diane Feinstein.  One of her objections to Janice Rogers Brown is that she is very protective of property rights.  Evidently liberal democrats feel that an appreciation of property rights is "out of the mainstream."

Many of these Demcorats are saying that they're not doing anything to George Bush's appointments that Republicans didn't do to Clinton's appointments.  They're lying.  I could not find one instance in our history where either party conducted a filibuster in the Senate to prevent a vote on a judicial confirmation where that judge had already been approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee and where there were a majority of votes on the Senate floor to confirm.

Our Constitution gives the Senate the right of advice and consent on judicial nominees.  The Senate is prepared to do just that.  The Senate sits ready to confirm these nominees, but Democrats are using a Senate rule to prevent that vote from taking place.

It's too bad Americans don't care as much about this as they do their local high school football team.

*THE PARIS HILTON SEX VIDEO

Yes .. .I've seen it.

No, I won't tell you where to find it.

Just what are Paris Hilton and her sister famous for? They are famous for their attempts to become famous ... nothing else.  Neither one of these poor little rich girls have ever exhibited any non-sexual talent that would enable them to earn a decent living in the private sector absent the fortune of their parents.  So now poor Paris is so depressed about her little teenage sex video being plastered all over the Internet.  Well ... here's that publicity she's always wanted.  How's it feel?

By the way ... it looks like the only reason she was there was to romp for the camera ... always worrying about showing her best side.  Other than that, it doesn't look like she enjoyed the video session at all.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Race warlords are demanding that Zell Miller apologize for using the word "lynching" to describe what is happening to Judicial candidate Janice Rogers Brown.  Sorry ... the word fits.  And I call these people race warlords because they don't deserve to be called civil rights leaders.

Here's the latest offer from that strange little gargoyle who leads North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons.

Alabama's Ten Commandments Judge is removed from the bench.  He forgot which law he was operating under.  Watch him run for Governor.

Now that it seems that Howard Dean is the shoo-in for the Democratic presidential nomination, folks are going to start writing and reporting.  David Skinner writes "Meet Howard Dean, hipster geek."  And Daniel Henninger says that John Kerry is cute, but Dean is Q'ter.

Three predators try to rob store owner.  Store owner decides that they need their clocks cleaned.

This is interesting ... polls show that today's college students are now quite the leftist sitar-playing brook trout that some people thought they would be.

Al Qaeda is planning another terror attack on the United States.  An Al Qaeda leader anticipates as many as 100,000 American casualties.  Now what kind of a weapon do you think could do that?

The second part of Thomas Sowell's two-parter on "Free-lunch medicine." Remember, socialized medicine in America is inevitable.  This is yet another case where the American people are going to get exactly and just what they deserve.

Which previous president do you think most influences the present one.  Hint, it probably isn't his father.

While everyone talks about Jessica Lynch, Casaundra Grant is largely ignored.  Casaundra came home from Iraq without her legs.  Is it time to rethink this idea of women in combat?

My goodness.  Ann Coulter wants to remove Dennis Kucinich's feeding tube.  Yikes!  After all, he is in a vegetative state.  Really, this is more about Terri Shiavo .. but Coulter's such a good writer you need to read it anyway.

Bill O'Reilly says he would consider running for president.  Question:  Would he call his opponent a "vicious son-of-a-bitch?"
