BOMBINGS IN TURKEY

There were multiple terrorist bombings in Turkey today.  The bombings targeted civilians.  This means, of course, that they are the work of Islamic terrorists, quite likely Al Qaeda.

Consider for a moment today where we would be if other countries, including the Axis of Weasels (France and Germany) had joined Britain and America in the fight against terrorism in Iraq and the Middle East.  Terrorists are feeding off of attacks on America and on George Bush.  The Islamo-goons will be sitting in front of the television sets today grinning broadly, tossing turbans and high-fiving their camels as they watch the anti-war, pro-Saddam demonstrations today in London.

This is a World War.  It's World War IV, the war against radical Islam.  Today one of the battlegrounds was Turkey.  Once again much of the world sits back and leaves the heavy lifting to a few.

It's time to step up this war against Islamic fanaticism, not step back from it.  Today, Turkey.  Tomorrow, Times Square?  The more cowardly the west appears, the more bold the Islamo-fascists become.  More innocents are going to die in more bombings unless the world unites in a blood oath to rid the planet of Islamic terrorists.

Just last week we got word that Al Qaeda was looking for a way to launch a terrorist attack in America that would take a minimum of 100,000 American lives.  They have almost the entire Democratic presidential appeasement delegation unwittingly helping them in that quest.  The Democrats' approach to the Islamic terrorists is a carbon copy of Europe's response to Hitler prior to World War II.  There are just too few people around today who remember what appeasement brought then.  Time to relearn the lesson, I suppose.

Oh ... and by the way.  Watch the news today.  Note how reticent the news pronouncers and assorted talking heads are to use the phrase "Islamic terrorists."  Hey ... we don't want to offend anyone, do we?

DEMOCRATS PROTECTING BIG GOVERNMENT

Yesterday I told you that the principal reason the Democrats are opposed to this prescription drugs benefit program was because it would eventually cause the immense Medicare system to actually compete with private enterprise system for patients.  There was Tom Daschle yesterday chanting "no more lemons" in front of a huge banner proclaiming "Don't privatize Medicare."

Democrats absolutely do not want to see any private health care plans compete against Medicare.  Bear in mind, nobody will be required to participate in a private plan.  The Democrats are afraid, though, that some seniors will.  Now if those seniors like their experience with a private plan, they may tell other seniors.  They do talk, you know.  Then other seniors will join the private plan, enjoy their experience, and tell even more seniors.  Democrats are scared to death that these private sector plans may do such a good job competing against the inefficiencies of government that they will see more, then more and then more seniors bailing from Medicare to go to the private sector.

Now I want you to think about the last four or five presidential elections.  In every single one of those elections you have heard Democrats sound two very familiar themes.  In the last days of those campaigns the Democrats will tell senior citizens that the evil Republicans have a secret plan (it's always a secret plan) to destroy Social Security and to destroy Medicare.  And every single year senior citizens get the cat food scared out of them and rush to the polls to vote for Democrats just to save their Social Security and their Medicare.  Question:  How will these Democrats be able to frighten senior citizens with lies about secret plans if the seniors are relying on the private sector for their health insurance?

Democrats are the party of big government.  Democrats will support any program that increases government power.  Democrats can be relied on to oppose any proposal that would reduce the political power that comes with government control.  They oppose competition for Social Security, they oppose competition with their precious government indoctrination centers they call schools, and they oppose any threat of competition with Medicare or interference with their plans for socialized medicine in the United States.

Do you need more proof of the Democrats love of government and their hatred of the private sector?  Just pay close attention to Democratic presidential front-runner Howard Dean.  Just this week he was calling for a massive re-regulation of American business.  The economy is growing, businesses are expanding, people are finding jobs ... and Howard Dean wants the government to step in and re-regulate American business.

Are these the clowns you're going to support in next year's election?

I'm not going to let the Republicans off the hook here either.  They went into this fight with plans to tie the prescription drug benefit to participation in a private Medicare plan.  They came out with a watered down idea of setting up some sort of a demonstration plan for private sector competition in just six American cities.  There will be so much political interference with these "demonstrations" that they are doomed to failure.

Do you know that Medicare is going to spend $13 trillion dollars more than it takes in payroll taxes over the next 75 years?  This prescription drug benefit will bring that up to about $20 trillion.  That doesn't bother you though, does it?  After all, you'll be long-dead.  Let your grandchildren solve this mess.

Yeah, that's the spirit.

WE'RE MOVING AHEAD WITH THIS

Even as I speak the Boortz staff is moving ahead with plans for an Atlanta Town Hall Meeting on the issue of airport privatization.  We see four key players here.  A representative of a corporation ready to make a bid to the City of Atlanta to operate Hartsfield under a lease agreement; a transportation export from The Reason Foundation, a think tank dedicated to privatization, a spokesman for Delta Air Lines, the only non-governmental entity which can single-handedly veto a privatization effort, and either the Mayor of Atlanta or, if she doesn't want to face the music, the president of the City Council.

We are scouting venues and issuing invitations.  The taxpayers and ratepayers of Atlanta deserve to hear these people in a head-to-head confrontation over the issues of privatization.  We'll let you know who agrees to participate, and who refuses.

OH BOY ... ANOTHER CELEBRITY TRIAL

For those of you who are tired of wall-to-wall coverage of Scott Peterson and his murder trial, take heart.  Scott Peterson is about to become invisible.  Enter, stage left, Michael Jackson.

Sometime today Michael Jackson is supposed to turn himself in to the authorities in Santa Barbara, California.  He will have his mug shot taken, it will be quickly posted on thesmokinggun.com, Jackson will post his $3 million bond, and he'll be off and running with a dozen satellite trucks and thousands of "journalists" sniffing his trail.

So, dear friends ... stand by.  You're about to get a nightly belly-full of Michael Jackson.  You may even forget what Scott Peterson looks like.  In the meantime, I wonder where OJ is playing golf today?

THE INCREDIBLE LIBERAL TALK RADIO NETWORK ... CHAPTER XIV

OK ... so what's the latest on that much-anticipated liberal talk radio network.  Weren't they supposed to be on the air by now?

Just last year we read that some leftist named Sheldon Drobny had pledged $10 million to lefty radio.  He started something called AnShell Media and was out there hiring talent and lining up stations.  Then ... nothing.  Drobney evidently started focusing his efforts on spreading the Lyndon LaRouche fantasy about the Bush family's connection with Hitler and Nazi Germany.

Well, AnShell Media has now been sold.  The new owner is Mark Walsh, a former Democratic Party advisor.  Walsh is now saying that he expects his liberal talk network to be on the air early next year, and once again we're hearing the name of Al Franken being tossed about.

I'm holding my breath.  Aren't you?

BRAVO!  BRAVO!  AUTHOR!  AUTHOR!

Actually, the author is Frederick Forsyth, the British novelist.  He wrote a letter to the Guardian, London's left wing newspaper.  It was one of a series of open letters to President Bush.  Here is what Forsyth wrote:

You will find yourself assailed on every hand by some pretty pretentious characters collectively known as the British left. They traditionally believe they have a monopoly on morality and that your recent actions preclude you from the club. You opposed and destroyed the world's most blood-encrusted dictator. This is quite unforgivable.

I beg you to take no notice. The British left intermittently erupts like a pustule upon the buttock of a rather good country. Seventy years ago it opposed mobilisation against Adolf Hitler and worshipped the other genocide, Josef Stalin.

It has marched for Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Khrushchev, Brezhnev and Andropov. It has slobbered over Ceausescu and Mugabe. It has demonstrated against everything and everyone American for a century. Broadly speaking, it hates your country first, mine second.

Eleven years ago something dreadful happened. Maggie was ousted, Ronald retired, the Berlin wall fell and Gorby abolished communism. All the left's idols fell and its demons retired. For a decade there was nothing really to hate. But thank the Lord for his limitless mercy. Now they can applaud Saddam, Bin Laden, Kim Jong-Il . . . and hate a God-fearing Texan. So hallelujah and have a good time.

Thank the Lord also for people who can write like Frederick Forsyth.  And thanks also to James Taranto's Best of the Web column for alerting me to this gem.

INTEMPERATE THOUGHTS

For all of you out there who think that Michael Jackson is absolutely, positively not guilty.  Prove your faith in Michael Jackson by sending your little boy to spend the weekend with him at the ranch.

Did you see Lt. Col. Allen West after that hearing in Baghdad yesterday?  This man is going to lose his Army career, and possibly his pension benefits because he went the extra mile to protect his troops?  He's a hero.  Let's recognize him as such.

Those anti-war demonstrators in London?  Every one of them wishes Saddam Hussein were still in power in Iraq.  They are deserving of neither your attention nor your respect.

Now it's hints of money laundering?  Give me a break!  The leftist media smells blood ... and they're going in for the kill.  My guess is they don't know what they're up against.

Did you see that CNN video of rescuers trying to pull a huge fat woman out of the window of her car?  The car was trapped in rising flood waters.  Evidently they couldn't get the door open.  We have firemen pushing in on her bloated stomach trying to get it to fit through the window.  I wonder if this is enough to put this lard ass on a diet?  Now ... just watch someone write to tell me that she's actually pregnant.

HEY ... LET'S JUST BE A FOOTBALL SCHOOL.  WHADDAYA SAY?

For my Georgia friends, you need to get your paws on a column by Bill Shipp that appeared in The Northside Neighbor.  You can click here for a link to the column, but when I tried the link this morning all I came up with was an empty page with the title "More fear and loathing in Athens, Ga."  Maybe they'll straighten this out later today.  You can also read another viewpoint by Dick Yarbrough.  This link to his column actually works.  I'm thinking conspiracy here.

Shipp is writing about the current controversies at The University of Georgia.  He says that UGA President Michael Adams is toast; the odds against his remaining are about 1000 to 1.  Shipp then says that the odds of finding a quality replacement for Adams is about 1,000,000 to 1.  The trustees of the University of Georgia Foundation have created such a mess in their pursuit of Adams that no sane person would ever agree to put himself in their crosshairs.

Is this all about football?  Are these alumni after Adams because he refused to extend Vince Dooley's contract for one year?  Yarbrough correctly points out some rather bad management of UGA funds by Adams.  There is that amazing spectacle of a $10,000 bash for a graduation party for Adams' son.

Me?  Hey, from the outside it appears to be all about Vince Dooley ... all about football.  Wasn't it Dooley who said something to the effect that "this controversy isn't about football, but if Adams would have extended my contract it wouldn't have happened."  Quote of the year material there.

Fun stuff.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Just who are these anti-war demonstrators in London?  Who is organizing the protests? Who is leading them?  All you hear from the ABCCBSNBCCNNWashingtonTimesNewYorkTimes leftist media cartel is that they are London anti-war "activists."  Amir Taheri is Iranian.  He is the author of ten books on the Middle East and Islam.  Amir Taheri knows who is behind the demonstrations.  You will too, if you read his column.  For those of you who won't click on the link .... Taheri identifies the 33 leaders of the London anti-Bush demonstrations thusly:  "The coalition has a steering committee of 33 members. Of these, 18 come from various hard left groups: Communists, Trotskyites, Maoists, and Castroists. Three others belong to the radical wing of the Labour party. There are also eight radical Islamists. The remaining four are leftist ecologists known as "Watermelons" (Green outside, red inside)."

And for those of you who like to push this idea that Islam is a religion of peace ... perhaps you would like to read Larry Elder's review of "Onward Muslim Soldiers:  How Jihad Still Threatens America and the West."

Joe Eszhersthas is a movie screenwriter.  Joe Eszhersthas was a smoker.  Joe Eszhersthas has throat cancer.  Joe Eszhersthas has written a public service ad urging you not to let people like him kill you.

Suzanne Fields:  "The most troubling example of racial inequality in America today is the inner city school. Civil-rights iniquities begin here."  Maybe so, but when it comes to protecting minority children in inner-city schools or pandering to teacher's unions .. teacher's unions win.  They vote.  Minority school children don't.

I just love this woman!  Ann Coulter writes about the Democrats .. .the "party of ideas."  The idea is to exploit family tragedy for political gain.  Democrats are particularly good at this.

Now here's an amazing story.  Monica Lewinsky says that her past is making it hard for her to develop a stable and long-lasting relationship with a man.    Well imagine that.  How would you like to take Monica Lewinsky home to meet your parents?

You have to wonder if Michael Vick is ever going to be back!

Teenagers are vicious.  Period.
