TUESDAY 10/14/03LIEBERMAN CAN'T GET ANY ATTENTION, SO .... Democratic presidential candidate Joseph Lieberman decided that he needed to do something to get some much-needed publicity for his faltering campaign. Well, what the hell! Nothing works better than a little class warfare, so let's give that a try! Lieberman has come up with the absolutely unique idea (yeah, right!) of ... are you ready now? All together .... raising taxes on the rich! When nothing else works, play the envy card. Lieberman knows that envy is one of the most powerful emotions around, and powerful emotions make powerful tools in the hands of politicians. Lieberman's income redistribution plan has six main elements:
I'm going to break this down for those of you who went to government schools. The higher tax rates on the rich will take even more money from our most productive citizens. The rate on most successful small business owners will be around 45%. The tax cuts for the middle income earners will remove even more Americans from the list of those who actually pay federal income taxes. And the expanded earned income tax credits will mean more government checks for those in the middle and lower income brackets. Simply put ... Lieberman's tax plan is to take even more money from the evil, hated rich and give that money to the middle and lower income tax brackets. Take the money from those who aren't likely to vote Democrat and give it to those who are. The ultimate goal here is to create a system in which they can get the money from people who's votes they don't need and then spend that money on the people who's votes they do need. There's something else you need to remember. Those evil rich people who the politicians tell you aren't paying their "fair share?" most of these people are business owners. They have elected to treat all of their business income as personal income. When the government takes more of that personal income away in the form of higher taxes that leaves these businessmen with less money to spend on expanding their businesses and hiring new employees. Have any of you read "Atlas Shrugged?" ANOTHER MOVEMENT BEGINS IN CALIFORNIA This nutsy idea was started by San Francisco councilman Matt Gonzalez. He wants non-citizen immigrants with children to be allowed to vote in school board elections. He also says that it would be a good idea if these (illegal) aliens could vote in all municipal elections. But wait! This idea isn't that new! In some areas of Illinois and Maryland non-citizens can already vote in local school elections. Is this going to be the next great liberal movement? It would sure be a good way to cement Democratic power in California, a state where (presumably) citizen voters just voted a Republican into the governor's office. In California there are more births to non-citizens every year than there are to citizens. That should give you an idea as to the potential voting power these non-citizens hold. I find it odd that immigrants who come to this country to take advantages of our freedoms and economic liberty quickly align themselves with the political party dedicated to the destruction of the very things that brought them here. Democrats are thrilled, though, and the more of these people they can get to the polls, the better. SPANISH LESSONS? When I drive between the airport where I keep my airplane and my home I pass a building with a couple of signs out front. One names the building, the headquarters for Atlanta's Latin American Association. The other sign identifies one of the activities conducted in the building: "Spanish lessons forming now." Every time I see these signs I'm troubled and I decide to mention it on the air. Today I remembered. If this building headquarters the Latin American Association one would assume that most of the people therein, or the people who are interested in what goes on there already speak Spanish. Why, then, would they need to be giving Spanish lessons? What part of their constituency needs Spanish lessons? Well ... here's a hint. English-speaking people who deal with Latinos, that's who. There is one great difference between this current wave of immigrants from Latin America and previous influxes of immigrants from Europe. Non-English-speaking immigrants from Eastern European countries had two primary tasks when they arrived in America. First, find a job so that they can sustain themselves. Second, learn to speak the English language so that their job opportunities will be enhanced and they can fully participate in the promise of America. Today's Latin immigrants show no anxiousness at all to learn to speak English. They read Spanish language newspapers, listen to and watch Spanish language radio and television stations, live in Spanish language neighborhoods and find it all quite satisfying, thank you very much. In short, they live in Latino islands in America with no desire whatsoever to assimilate or to become Americanized. If the signs on the building are a guide, this Latin American organization is far more interested in teaching English-speaking Americans how to communicate with Spanish-American immigrants. It's as if these Latin immigrants are saying "Hey, you want to communicate with us? You learn to speak our language. We're muy alegre living in our immigrant enclave and getting along quite well." In some building supply businesses around Atlanta you can buy booklets titled "Spanish for Contractors", or "Spanish for Plumbers". I haven't see any corresponding pamphlets for Spanish-speaking workers. Here's a column by Herbert London, president of the Hudson Institute. He recently found himself lost in a Latino enclave of Chicago. This, my friends, is the future of America. INTEMPERATE THOUGHTS I had a lady call the show yesterday to tell me that Rush Limbaugh should go to jail "because he betrayed the conservative cause." This lady was born thousands of years too late, and with the wrong plumbing. She would have been a great Crusades warrior. The Islamic Hussein supporters who are killing American servicemen in Iraq are certain that the American people are going to get fed up with the continuing fatalities and demand that we withdraw from Iraq. This, of course, would lead to a return of Saddam Hussein and an increased threat to the safety of each and every American. The Democrats are doing everything in their power to prove these Hussein supporters right. Democrats have been pushing the idea of amnesty for illegal aliens with "freedom rides" throughout the country. They're supposed to be reminders of the civil rights freedom rides forty years ago. Democrats are, therefore, equating illegal aliens who have broken our laws with the victims of Jim Crow segregation laws and racial discrimination in the old South. The victims of discrimination weren't breaking any laws. Why besmirch their legacy by comparing them to those whose very presence here is illegal? I saw a video of a Nebraska football player sucker-punching a fan on the field last night. How many of you think that there will actually be any criminal penalties against this jock? Yeah, right. When are Americans going to wake up to the role of Saudi Arabia in the financing and promotion of worldwide Islamic terrorism? Forget the general population .. when are our politicians going to wake up? Atlanta sewer bills are going to triple over the next five years. If Maynard Jackson and Bill Campbell had done their jobs this problem could have been avoided. I said yesterday that America was fixin' to find out what Atlanta already knows. The Atlanta Falcons are a one-man football team. That man is Michael Vick. He was on the sidelines last night and Atlanta lost to St. Louis 36-0 on Monday night football. READING ASSIGNMENTS This week's WorldNetDaily column, Let's end the drug war They've moved the Liberty Bell to a new home in Philadelphia, but not without the specter of political correctness entering the picture. Blacks, you see, just didn't feel included when they visited this treasured historic artifact. I've seen people picking their noses, applying makeup, doing crosswords and reading books while driving. I must say I've never noticed anyone using their laptop while driving. Looks like this guy was, and someone is dead. Jack Kemp says that Arnold has a chance to produce an economic miracle in California. The lardassification of America. Extreme obesity is "ballooning." Good news for scooter makers. Dennis Prager calls the current deep ideological divisions in America our "Second American Civil War." Today a Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism will be discussing the penetration of the U.S. Military Chaplain Corps by Islamists ... radical Muslims. Have these radical Muslims successfully penetrated our military, prisons, mosques and colleges? Is this a potential terrorist "fifth column" inside the United States? The stock market is up, as are corporate profits. Consumers are happy. Things aren't looking all that great for leftists who are praying for a bad economy to bolster Democrat chances in 2004. Here's the latest on the over-regulation of businesses in California. Now if you are a business with a large contract with state government you must offer "domestic partners" the same benefits that spouses have. NEALZ LINKS FOR NUZE |
