WEDNESDAY 10/15/03THERE GOES THAT RIGHT WING FOX NEWS CHANNEL AGAIN Last night they ran another one of those features showing life returning to normal, or better, on the streets of Baghdad. Fox showed furniture makers busy at their trade, water tank sellers saying that business has never been better. The streets were teeming with shoppers visiting stores and curbside markets. Yup ... those Iraqis looked pretty happy. Damn those right wing zealots at Fox. How dare they show the positive side of our presence in Iraq. This is just proof that the evil conservatives have taken over our media. NOBODY'S FAULT? GIVE ME A BREAK Last week I told you of another deadly car crash involving teenage drivers. This particular crash happened as do so many others. A 16-year-old driver runs off the right side of the road, overcorrects, veers back across the road and hits a tree on the other side. Two teenage passengers, one 16 and the other 15 were declared dead at the scene. Yesterday afternoon the teen driver also died. There are some extra elements to this story. The driver didn't have a driver's license. She only had a learner's permit, which means she was driving illegally. It also looks like the minivan she was driving was taken without the permission of the owner. Now ... the kicker. The woman who had possession of the van before it was taken says: "Some people are trying to find fault in this, but this is nobody's fault." What? It's nobody's fault? A 16-year-old girl who believes herself to be adult enough to drive an automobile takes a minivan without permission, drives that minivan illegally, and ends up killing two teenagers and herself ... and it's nobody's fault? To say that nobody is at fault is to say that nobody did anything wrong. Taking a car without the owner's permission isn't wrong? Driving without a driver's license isn't wrong? What the hell is this woman thinking? The woman who uttered this amazing statement is the mother of a 19-year-old teenage boy. She's 37. Do the math. Maybe she comes by this idea that teens should not be held responsible for their conduct and actions honestly. So ... here's today's lesson on how to turn teenagers into responsible adults. When they go out and commit multiple crime just tell them that everything is OK .. It really wasn't anyone's fault. Yeah, that ought to do it. UH OH ... TAX REVENUES ARE UP. A few weeks ago you were hearing a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth from Democrats and some Republicans in Washington about the size of the projected budget deficit. Democrats almost exclusively blamed this deficit on the Bush tax cuts and stood in line to say that these tax cuts should be turned around. Funny ... you haven't heard a lot about this budget deficit lately, have you? Do you know why? It's because the projected budget deficit is actually shrinking, not growing. When the budget deficit grows that's bad news for the President and, therefore, good enough news to put on the TV newscasts and the front pages of the major newspapers. But, when that projected deficit shrinks it's actually good news for the President, and good news is news that's not fit to print or broadcast for many "journalists" out there. Now ... just why have the projected deficits been shrinking? No, it's not because government is scaling back its spending. It's because the Imperial Federal Government is experiencing a sharp increase in tax revenues. That's right, an increase! It's no small increase in federal tax revenues either. Try this figure ---- $85 Billion. That's with a "B." The current estimate of tax revenues to the federal government is $85,000,000,000 higher right now than it was one month ago. The left and the Democrats have been warning that the Bush tax cuts would lead to lower tax revenues, the fiscal conservatives have been saying just the opposite. Well ... guess who wins this one. Hint: It's not the left. Once again .. just as with both the Kennedy and Reagan tax cuts, we're seeing an increase in government revenues. Don't you Democrats just hate it? THERE'S JUST NO GOOD NEWS FOR DEMOCRATS RIGHT NOW You do know that our economy is growing, don't you? I fact, there are predictions that the economy might grow by as much as 6% during the last quarter. Six percent, folks. Bush gets his tax cuts, tax revenues are actually going up, the economy is improving, and these Democratic mental midgets who want to be president are all talking about how they're going to raise taxes. The hungry-for-attention Joe Lieberman even wants to kick taxes up an extra 5% over what they were after Clinton's tax hike! Are the American people going to put these power-hungry class warfare demagogues in charge? Please tell me they aren't. ED ASSNER Did you hear this one? Self-proclaimed socialist and all-around Hollywood weirdo Ed Asner was asked which historical figure he admired the most and would like to portray one day on the screen. His answer? Joseph Stalin. I'm sure you already know that Stalin killed millions more than did Hitler. Apparently that doesn't present much of a problem to Asner. Asner says "Joe Stalin was a guy who was hugely misunderstood." So another Hollywood leftist steps forward to praise some of the most bloody figures in world history. Will there be a price to pay? Are you kidding? It's not like Asner praised Ronald Reagan or Rush Limbaugh. It's Stalin he's praising, you don't expect him to catch any heat in Hollywood for that, do you? Remember, this is the land of Streisand, Clooney, Reiner and Baldwin we're talking about. READING ASSIGNMENTS How can you explain the Democratic opposition to vouchers in D.C., the nation's worst government school system. There's only one way. Government unions are more important than educating children. But wait, there's something else. Could Democrats be opposed to vouchers simply because they are someone else's idea? China, the third nation with a man in space. Drat! Once again I forgot to link you to my weekly WorldNetDaily column. So here you go. Our friends, the Saudis, teach a seething, blind hatred of the United States in their schools. How much longer are we going to hide from the fact that these people are not our friends? It's been a while since we've heard anything about the Plame scandal in Washington. The Plame scandal, you say? What is that? See ... told you so! Senate Democrats are getting ready to filibuster more Bush judicial nominees. All of these nominees have the votes to be confirmed, including Democratic votes. This is a group of liberals running roughshod over the Constitution. Why are they continuing with their actions? Simple ... because they're getting away with it without any retribution whatsoever from the spineless Republicans. The pure idiocy of zero-tolerance programs. Here's a follow up on that story about a Houston high school student who shared his asthma inhaler with a fellow student in distress. John Podhoretz chronicles the liberal's "sick glee" over the Rush Limbaugh situation. The State of Georgia wants to turn over buckets of information about Georgia drivers to some super crime fighting computer called Matrix. I thought that this was exactly what they promised NOT to do when they started putting fingerprints on licenses. Oh well, they're politicians. Believe them at your peril. Here we go again ... the evil of weight bias. Now we learn that being seen just standing next to a fat person can be bad for your image. The way things are going you're hardly going to have a choice. There's a "dark skinned" conservative Republican running for governor in Louisiana, and he may just win! His name is Bobby Jindal. How do we know he's "dark skinned?" Because the liberals keep reminding us, that's how. They just can't stand the idea of a Southern State sending someone who isn't white to the governor's office. Here's Michelle Malkin. William McGowan wrote "Coloring the News." He's now writing a book about that New York Times example of bad hiring. Jayson Blair, McGowan wonders why journalists are so reluctant to investigate or write about the excesses of diversity. We need some good news, so here you are. A man was killed robbing a bank near Atlanta yesterday. The taxpayers won't have to pay for a trial or his incarceration, and he won't be robbing any more banks. NEALZ LINKS FOR NUZE |
