THURSDAY 10/16/03BELIEVE IT OR NOT, SOME IDIOTS WILL VOTE FOR THIS GUY Dennis Kucinich was possibly one of the worst big-city mayors in America's recent history. He virtually bankrupted the city of Cleveland. Somehow he found a constituency in Ohio that would send him to congress. From there he seeks to move to the presidency. Kucinich, along with Carol Mosley Braun and Al Sharpton, are the comic relief in this presidential race. None of them have a chance. They're like flies at a picnic. Having said that, it is frightening to note that some people will actually vote for this gargoyle. They'll vote for him because of Kucinich quotes like this: "I am running for president of the United States to enable the goddess of peace to encircle within her arms all the children of this country and all the children of the world." What fun!
THE ECONOMY IS TURNING AROUND And if you want to go back to the time period when this economic recovery really turned the corner, look at the time when the Bush tax cuts took effect. That's right, folks. Most economists who do not work in academia or for the government will tell you that the event that really put some fire in the economic recovery was the tax cut. This is what happened with JFK's tax cut, and this is what happened with Reagan's tax cut. History repeating itself. You have to ask yourself, do Democrats realize this? Do Democrats realize that this economic turnaround can be blamed largely on the fact that people are allowed to keep more of the money they earn? Yeah .. they realize it. They read the same economic reports we do, and they know the history of tax cuts as well as anyone. The problem is that they have different goals. Their goal is not to see our economy grow. A growing economy does not serve the ends of the socialist movement. Growing economies are affirmations of the capitalistic system. Growing economies lead to economic self-sufficiency. People who see improvements in their economic lives aren't whining for the government to step in and rescue them. Democrats aren't happy when people aren't whining for more government programs. Remember, Democrats think that America is great because of government. The more government we have, the greater America is. When Democrats see an affirmation of the dynamics of free enterprise and the benefits that arise from allowing a free people to actually keep the product of their labor they become nervous. That is why, even as we see the benefits of lower taxes, Democrats are screaming for those taxes to be raised again. Most of us work hard for the money we earn. OK, so I don't really work that hard, I just run my mouth, but you know what I mean. Some of us want to be able to make the decisions on just how that money we earn is to be spent. Democrats feel that they should be the ones to make that decision. To a Democrat a dollar spent by the person who earned it is a dollar wasted. Only government can spend those dollars. A final note. Never forget that in the official language of Washington every single dollar that you earn that you are allowed to keep is termed a "tax expenditure." That money in your pocket is, to Washington, money given to you by the political class to keep you placated, dumb and happy. When government raises your taxes it calls the money that ends up in government coffers a "tax savings." In other words, the government is "saving" money by raising your taxes. YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS ... ... but the website for the London Guardian newspaper is actually hosting a discussion entitled "Is it time to assasinate (sic) George Dubya Bush? Here's the original posting from some jerk who calls himself "SimonF" (unedited)
And here is a response posted by "InKind" (again, unedited)
Here's your link, but by the time I post this I think it's a safe bet the posting will be gone. YOUR SPOUSE, OR YOUR PARENTS This issue came up yesterday when we were discussing the tragedy of Terri Schiavo in Florida. Terri's feeding tubes have now been removed and she will die within two weeks. This after 13 years in a comatose state following brain damage caused by a heart attack. If you've been following the Schiavo story you will know that this has been a battle royal between Terri Schiavo's husband and her parents. Her husband, Michael, went to court asserting that his wife had expressed to him a desire never to be kept alive in this manner. Her parents disagree. OK .. this isn't really about the Schiavo matter, that's just how this particular topic began. Here's your question. To whom do you owe your primary allegiance, your spouse or your parents? My contention is that once you are married you owe your primary duty, allegiance, devotion and love to your spouse, not to your parents. Your spouse's feelings and desires come first, your child is second, your parents are third. Belinda can't go along with this. Listen today ... this will probably come up again.
READING ASSIGNMENTS AND INTEMPERATE THOUGHTS We talked about this a bit yesterday on the show. Democrats are desperate. The economy is turning around ... strongly turning around. It's an economic expansion driven by Bush's tax cut. What in the world are the Democrats going to do now? An excellent quote from this Ann Coulter column; "Hypocrisy is the only sin that really inflames them. Inasmuch as liberals have no morals, they can sit back and criticize other people for failing to meet the standards that liberals simply renounce." Now that's hitting the nail on the head. This is a great column .. as is typical of Coulter. You've heard of the smoking gun, haven't you? Well, how about the smoking panties? Thomas Sowell writes that it used to be that nothing succeeded like success. Now nothing draws fire, or hate for that matter, like success. Attention parents in Florida. Is your daughter wearing little plastic "jelly bracelets" to school? Do you have any idea what these bracelets mean? Well .. if it's blue it may mean your daughter is prepared to deliver a nice little Lewinsky to the boy who manages to get that bracelet off her wrist. Is Hitlary going to run or not? That political clock is just ticking away. Damn, it sure would be fun to see Her Viciousness get turned loose on the voters. What do we now know about Kobe's accuser that we didn't know 24 hours ago? This girl evidently doesn't wash her underwear all that often. Sean Hannity is next, or so Ed Asner thinks. Asner is quoted as telling talk show host Mike Gallagher: ''Hannity's next. We're going after him just like we went after Limbaugh. And you saw what happened to Rush this week, right?'' Good luck Asner. Hannity is so squeaky clean I'm not even sure he kisses with his mouth open. Speaking of Asner, that quote I gave you yesterday about his admiration of Josef Stalin was in error. Mea Culpa. Asner merely said that he was curious as to why nobody had ever portrayed Stalin in a major movie and he would be glad to take that role on. With a wig, of course. The next time someone starts ranting about America's gun culture and about how many people are murdered in this country every year, just tell them that at least they aren't living in Sweden. That's right .. Sweden. Don't blame that poor putz who grabbed that foul ball away from Alou. Blame Kerry Wood. Now the Cubs fans are feeling what the Braves fans were feeling after the Division Championship Series. Go Sox! Hey, you Muslims out there! Do you have your "Mecca Phone" yet! Yes, you too can please Allah with your very own cellular phone complete with satellite positioning technology to direct you to Mecca! I'm told you can get the "Martyr" plug-in that can direct you to the nearest terrorist target. Now it's legal to flip a bird in Texas! The 3rd Court of Appeals has ruled that the finger doesn't constitute a breach of the peace. The Marlins. Bummer. George Bush wants Muslims in Indonesia to stop small groups of "hate filled people" from determining the future of Indonesia. Now we have some Muslim bigwig has his turban in a wad. Golly! Was it something Bush said? The Bush Administration is going on the offensive over Iraq ... getting the message out of the good things that have happened over there. Clifford May says it hasn't gone far enough. Marvin Olasky writes: "Are we left unable to take public positions on moral questions because we cannot find a perfect man or woman to uphold the standards?" What about it, Rush critics?
