Thursday, April 1, 2004AN ANNIVERSARY Today is the 10th Anniversary of the genocide in Rwanda. While we're remembering what happened in Africa, I'm going to take another opportunity to remind you that there is documentary evidence that Bill Clinton, who happened to be president at the time, knew what was happening .. and may have know about it before it actually began. Bill Clinton buried the information to excuse his inaction. I heard this morning that just 5000 American troops would have saved 400,000 Rwandan lives. Something for you to think about. HOW RIDICULOUS CAN YOU GET The White House has announced that President Bush will throw out the first pitch at the St. Louis Cardinal's home opener. Presidents do this ... year after year. Can you believe that the Democrats have turned this into a political matter? Just as soon as the White House announcement was made the Democrats issued a press release slamming Bush for the trades made by the Texas Rangers while he was a part owner. Oh yeah. The voters are going to turn on Bush because he traded A-Rod. How about some other Bush trades? We traded a president with no moral compass for one with a strong sense of ethics and a devotion to the unmentionable God We traded inaction against terrorists for a war on terrorism that has, in the words of terrorist leaders, Al Qaeda "disorganized and on the run." We traded the Taliban in Afghanistan for a popular government that insures freedom and personal rights. We traded rape rooms and mass graves in Iraq for the liberation of tens of millions of people. We traded an economy in recession for one that is growing strongly. All this ... and the Democrats are worried about Alex Rodriguez. Just what part of this Democratic campaign are we supposed to take seriously? Maybe it was a April Fools press release. IRAQIS DRAG FOUR U.S. BODIES THROUGH THE STREET In case you have been living under a rock and haven't heard about this, a mob of Islamic terrorists dragged the bodies of four American contractors through the streets of Fallujah yesterday in Iraq, and strung two of them from a bridge. This happened after their SUVs were ambushed in a convoy. Very tragic and sickening. What is also despicable is how the media is covering this. First of all, in the Associated Press story covering the incident, the cold-blooded killers that did this are referred to as "rebels" (instead of Islamic terrorists) and the liberation of Iraq as the "American occupation." They also immediately compare this to what happened in Somalia. Democratic calls to pull out of Iraq as soon as possible are sure to follow. But we're not going to cut and run this time. The difference? President Bush is in office and Bill Clinton is not. The current occupant of the White House does not give into terrorists so easily. Look for an increase in these attacks. As the coalition gets closer and closer to handing control of Iraq over to its new government Saddam loyalists are going to grow more and more desperate. Middle East despots have a lot to lose if Iraq truly adopts a representative form of government. Iraq has the potential of becoming the dominant political and economic power in that part of the world. Fundamentalist Islamic terrorists want none of this ... and they're desperate to prevent it. As you watch the American political season unfold, ask yourself: Who is on the side of freedom for the Iraqi people, and who wants to facilitate their return to live under a dictatorship? The people who did this need to be located and served with their dirt nap as soon as possible. Oh..and the people who were murdered were providing security for the convoys delivering food to the area. Time for the Iraqis' first American lesson in cause and effect...no more food convoys. Then maybe they'll change their tune. HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL: PRESIDENT BUSH MIGHT VETO A SPENDING BILL A six-year, $275 billion highway bill is stalled in the House amid a veto threat by President Bush. The White House released a statement saying the bill was too costly, which is the same stand they took on the $318 billion bill that the Senate passed in February. The administration has proposed spending "only" $256 billion, which is still an increase of $38 billion over the last six-year period. A billion here, a billion there...pretty soon we'll be talking about real money. A novel idea...how about only spending as much on highways as is taken in by the federal gasoline tax? After all, we're told that is what the money is for. Then there would never be any argument as to how much there is available for spending on roads. A quick check of the United States Constitution reveals no mention of the federal government's obligation to spend over a quarter of a trillion dollars of our money on paving roads. Perhaps this could be better left to state and local governments...but then politicians in Washington couldn't reward their constituencies in exchange for constantly getting re-elected. At least the President is showing a little restraint here. Hopefully it's a trend. Don't hold your breath, though. READING ASSIGNMENTS Check out the new item available in the Boortz online store. Dick Morris explains why Richard Clarke actually helped President Bush. He says the 2004 election is less about the candidates and more about 2 separate issues. Larry Elder looks at John Kerry's likeability gap, along with some very interesting examples of the Democratic nominee's weakness. Ann Coulter says we don't need a commission to tell us how 9/11 happened. She goes over the timeline. You won't want to miss this one. Ross Mackenzie says it's time to batten down the hatches and head for the hills....it's a long way until November 2nd. Emmett Tyrrell writes that the Democrats may be trying a new strategy with John Kerry....by checking him in to the hospital whenever his poll numbers are down. Brent Bozell breaks down the assertion that terrorism was somehow the most important issue in the Clinton administration. Michelle Malkin takes a closer look at left-wing thuggery, and uncovers just where some of your taxpayer dollars may be going. You may be surprised. Linda Chavez says the decision to send Condoleezza Rice to testify in front of the 9/11 Commission is unlikely to quell the furor sparked by Richard Clarke's testimony. Cal Thomas tells us that there is enough pork in the recently-passed $2.4 trillion budget resolution to harden the arteries of any taxpayer. Will people care enough? Kathleen Thomas writes about the ever-gracious John Kerry's treatment of his Secret Service detail. Such gratitude for people expected to take a bullet for the candidate. Al Franken kicked off his show on the much-ballyhooed Liberal Talk Radio Network. Early reviews are not good. Word to the wise: if you're mad at your girlfriend, don't send an e-mail threatening to blow up the White House and kill the president. |
