Monday, April 5, 2004SCREW THEM? First .. you need to know who Markos Moulitsas Zuniga is. Zuniga has a website known as the Daily Kos. This site seems quite popular among leading leftists and Democrats. He also has close ties to Democratic Chairman Terry McAuliffe. You will also find Democratic organizations and candidates advertising on the Daily Kos. These include the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the Democratic National Committee, the Draft Kerry - Edwards committee, Jane Mitakides, a Democratic congressional candidate from Ohio, and others. Now that you know a little about the Daily Kos, let's read what Markos Zuniga posted on his website last week after four American contractors were killed in Fallujah, and their burned bodies hung from a bridge:
Nice, huh. Screw them. They were there to wage war for profit. The truth is that these four men were attempting to provide security for a delivery of food to the residents of Fallujah. This is what this loyal Democrat calls waging war for profit. Four Americans killed providing security for a humanitarian effort. Democrats say "screw them." Thanks to James Taranto at Opinion Journal for bringing this to our attention. ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THE MEDIA CARRYING THE WATER FOR THE DEMOCRATS Last week there was good news for George Bush, and tragic news for everyone. One story made Americans feel good. The other story made all of us sick to our stomachs. The good story was the surprisingly good numbers showing almost 400,000 jobs created by our economy in March*. The bad news was the murder and desecration of four American civilians working in Iraq. Here was the task facing the liberals at CBS. How can they use the "feel bad" story to make Americans feel a little less good about the "feel good" story? Well, believe it or not, they figured it out. Thanks to Dan Rather we now know that those four men who were killed in Fallujah were only there because they couldn't find decent jobs at home. On last Wednesday night's newscast Rather asked the question: "What drives American civilians to risk death in Iraq? In this economy, it may be, for some, the only job they can find." These four men were former military. They were former Navy Seals and special forces operatives. They were earning a living the way they wanted to earn a living. One of these men was from Delaware. The unemployment rate there is 3.1%. What we have here is a simple exercise by Dan Rather to try to slant the news so as to take a positive story and drag it down by associating it with a negative story. Another reason why fewer and fewer people are watching CBS news. *Notice I said "jobs created by our economy." The economy creates jobs, not the government. This is something you might find difficult to comprehend if you were educated in government schools. ALREADY MAKING EXCUSES FOR LIB RADIO Years ago the Richard B. Russell Federal Office Building was built in Atlanta. The taxpayers, of course, were forced to spend millions of dollars on ugly artwork for the building. One work of "art" consisted of a large torn piece of canvas with paint splattered all over it. When contractors were doing the final cleanup they came upon this work of art. Mistaking it for an old painter's drop cloth they threw it in a dumpster. When the artist discovered his precious piece of work in a dumpster he threw what only could be described as a "hissy fit." He told anyone who cared to listen that the people in charge of the post-construction cleanup, and most of the ordinary citizens out there, just weren't sophisticated enough to appreciate such an artistic masterpiece. To this day that piece of dog squeeze hanging on the wall of the Russell office building is referred to as the "drop cloth." So .. how does this apply to the new effort to create a liberal talk radio network? Last week Carl Quintanilla claimed that talk host Michael Reagan said that liberals are "too nuanced" in their views to be entertaining to listeners. That's not what Reagan said. Michael Reagan said that liberals were too boring. It was Quintanilla who came up with the "too-nuanced" line. What they're saying here is that most people just can't understand the subtle thoughts being expressed by the likes of Al Franken and the liberal talk lineup. We're just not smart enough ... or, as the artist said, we just aren't sophisticated enough to appreciate liberal thought. Yeah ... that works. Those stupid conservatives just need to be taken care of by people who are a lot smarter than they are .. people who know what America really needs. More government. HEAD OF 9/11 COMMISSION SAYS CLINTON BLEW IT Even though it won't bring back a single life lost on September 11, 2001, the 9/11 Commission will soon give their report on the Islamic terrorist attack along with their recommendations. If you listen to the media and Richard Clarke, you would think the Bush administration not only did nothing about terrorism prior to 9/11, but may have known about it in advance and might have actually carried out the attacks themselves. Anyway, the head of the commission, former New Jersey Governor Thomas Kean, was on 'Meet the Press' yesterday and he gave a sneak preview of what their findings may be. He said that the U.S. probably missed its best chance to get Bin Laden during the Clinton administration when the Al-Qaeda leader left the Sudan for Afghanistan in 1996. "If we had acted earlier on Al-Qaeda, when Al-Qaeda was smaller and just getting started, even before Bin Laden went to Afghanistan, there were times we could have gotten him, Kean said. "There's no question that had we gotten him and his leadership at that point, the whole story might have been different." Just remember that the next time you hear someone trying to pin this one on Bush. BUSH "DISAPPOINTED" WITH OPEC....OPEC SAYS WAIT A MINUTE... So it's getting to be the same old scenario. OPEC (for those of you who went to government schools, that's the Middle Eastern oil cartel,) cuts production or raises prices on crude oil, and immediately politicians start complaining that it will drive up the cost of gasoline. Getting in on the action last week was President Bush, who expressed disappointment with the decision. Of course, the price of gasoline has become an election-year issue, with the Kerry campaign jumping into the fray. sKerry says the United States should do what Clinton did...send the energy secretary to the Middle East with a tin cup and beg for lower prices. Anyway, OPEC has hit back over the issue, and they nailed the issue cold. The Saudi foreign affairs adviser, Adel Al-Jubeir said that the lack of refining capacity in the United States was the reason gas prices were rising. "There has not been a refinery built in America in the last 20 years. So if you produce more crude oil but you can't refine it, it's not going to translate into gasoline." He also said that environmental restrictions requiring special blends sold in different cities was driving up the price. "Unless the U.S. begins to simplify this area, and unless the U.S. deals with its refining shortage, there will always be a problem with gasoline." So there you have it. We've told you before: the hysteria over gas prices is a basic supply and demand issue. Unless the anti-capitalistic environmentalists get out of the way and allow more refineries to be built, you will always have a shortage, and prices will increase during peak driving seasons. And there's nothing Senator Kerry or President Bush can do about it. MCCAIN PRAISES DEMOCRATS, CRITICIZES THE PRESIDENT Now you can start to see why the media has an orgasm anytime Senator John McCain makes the news. Apparently the good "Republican" is really a closet liberal Democrat. Not convinced? Read on. McCain was attending a legislative seminar hosted by a Bush-bashing Democratic member of Congress. He said "I think the Democratic party is a fine party, and I have no problems with it, in their views and their philosophy." Oh really? He has no problem with a Democratic party that would end the war on terrorism and turn it over to the United Nations? Apparently not. It actually gets worse. Taking a shot at President Bush, he said "You can't fly in on an aircraft carrier and declare victory and have the deaths continue. You can't do that. Many people in this room question, legitimately whether we should have gone in or not." How nice...so McCain is now questioning the liberation of Iraq, criticizing George Bush's handling of the war and praising the Democratic party. Maybe he should join the sKerry ticket...he would fit right in. SOME INTEMPERATE THOUGHTS New name for the ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, Washington Post, New York Times, Los Angeles Times leftist media carte. The "Axis of Drivel." Credit to Doug Giles from Miami. Well .. now that the economy is starting to grow jobs at a greater-than-expected rate, the Democrats have to come up with a new angle. We started hearing it last week. "OK, so there's jobs. But wages aren't rising fast enough." If Bush developed a cure for cancer the Democrats would scream "Big deal, what about AIDS?" President Bush and Vice President Cheney will appear together before the 9/11 Commission. So .. how do the Democrats spin that? Easy. They say that Bush needs Cheney there because he's so dumb. There is absolutely nothing the Republicans can do that the left won't try to spin negatively. Years out of power have created a force for hatred that is stronger than anything we've seen before. Larry King will host Ted Kennedy tonight. Here's a question that won't be asked: "Senator, considering your long career in the U.S. Senate, it would seem that your decision to let that young lady drown in the back seat of your car while you were pacing the road worrying about your political future paid off. Would you care to comment?" Some new research says that Ritalin can stunt the growth of children. Seems fair, doesn't it? Something obviously has stunted the mental growth of the parents who would put their kids on this stuff. Besides, what's a little stunted growth when a mother and father can avoid actually parenting? A new survey shows that budget airlines generally provide better service than full service airlines. What they don't tell you is why. More often than not the reason is unions. The bigger the airline .. the more union involvement in the workforce. The more union involvement ... the poorer the quality of service. With smaller airlines the employees actually know who they are working for. DO YOU REALLY THINK THERE IS ANY HATRED FOR BUSH OUT THERE? If not ... give this email a read. It's from Lucy Chapman [lucy@blatanttruth.org] ... though I suspect that's a false name and address.
Wouldn't this be a fun lady to know? AN UPDATE ON BELINDA'S TREE It's gone. Cut down. For those of you who aren't up to speed on this saga...Belinda and her husband chose this particular lot for their new home for one reason. The tree. A 58 inch oak. That's diameter, folks. The house was positioned on the lot for the tree. The driveway was designed around the tree. The tree was a neighborhood landmark for generations. Last Thursday some moron on a Ditch Witch was digging a trench for a power line. He dug close to and around the tree on two sides ... severing roots as big around as my thigh. By Friday afternoon city officials had decided that the trenching meant that the tree was surely going to die, and that it was now so unstable that it had to be removed immediately. That removal was scheduled for this past weekend. Isn't it amazing how one cigarette-smoking idiot (I know, that's redundant) can do so much damage out of sheer ignorance and laziness? This Belinda's now-famous tree. It was taken down this morning because a contractor dug a trench for a power line and severed the root system. Unbelievable. READING ASSIGNMENTS It's operation Vigilant Resolve. America is answering last week's atrocities in Fallujah. This Wall Street Journal column explains why this action is needed. And more on the wonderful, peace loving religion of Islam. A European sheikh says the mutilation of bodies is justified under Islamic law. Burglar enters home with armed owner. Justice reigns. I just love stories like this! A terrorist attempt on German high speed trains? How bad is it getting in government schools? A British education official says that plagiarism is really nothing more than "self-teaching." Why do some American companies outsource? Blame the second-rate government and union run education system we have in the United States. These companies simply find better workers overseas. The woman who said she stoned two of her children to death and seriously injured a third on God's orders has been acquitted by reason of insanity. Is anyone who kills actually sane? Why do we care? Those children need justice, not psycho-babble. So much for all the cries about racial profiling...an analysis of traffic data shows that white women are more likely to be ticketed when pulled over. I guess they're going to have to start writing more tickets to other groups. A girl who wore a t-shirt to school that said "Barbie is a Lesbian" has received a $30,000 settlement from New York City public schools. How does she know? Democratic Senator Joseph Biden says President Clinton's biggest terrorism failure was Monica Lewinsky because it left him unable to deal with the threat posed by Al-Qaeda. This is a Democrat saying this, folks. Secretary of State Colin Powell said on Friday that some of the evidence he presented to the United Nations about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction may have been wrong. Who cares...the UN had 12 years to gather their own evidence. Mike Adams tells the tale of a faculty member at a liberal university being a card carrying member of the NRA and having a concealed carry permit also. The media is at it again with their bias....this time over job creation. They are intent on minimizing the economy's strength so as to harm President Bush's chances of re-election. R.M. Gerecht writes that the war in Iraq is part of the war in terrorism. Despite what you may have read, removing Saddam from power has made us safer. Suzanne Fields writes that the lessons we learn from history depend on who's writing it. Case in point: Iraq, where we have removed a psychotic madman from power. In the war on terror, Diana West says that action is better than inaction. 30 months of striking back at Islamic terrorists has led to some real progress. John Leo calls some of the activist groups on the carpet for "mission creep." A group starts out opposing one thing, and suddenly they are into everything. A very good read. Robert Novak says the recently passed highway bill is so loaded down with pork, that it effectively ends the Gingrich revolution that ushered in a Republican majority in 1994. Paul Crespo explains that John Kerry has gotten a free pass up to this point in the electoral process, and says Democratic voters may suffer from buyer's remorse. | |
