Tuesday, April 6, 2004AND YOU DON'T EVEN MENTION THESE GUYS? Let's review. You are former president Bill Clinton. Your chief anti-terrorism guy, Richard Clarke, says that Al Qaeda was an absolute top priority during the final years of your term. In fact, Richard Clarke writes a book and testifies under oath telling everyone who will listen how focused you were on Al Qaeda while you were president. So .. it's the end of your eight years in the White House. December, 2000. You are writing a report detailing your views on the major security threats facing the United States as you leave office. The report, which Richard Clarke helped you write, is 45,000 words long. That would be 168 pages using Microsoft Word, and if published as a book it would be about 220 pages long. Now that's quite a lot of words describing what you think are the major security concerns the next president needs to be aware of. And guess what? In all of those 45,000 words you don't mention the name "Al Qaeda" even one time. The greatest security concern facing America; isn't that what Richard Clarke said? And you don't even mention it one time in your report? Richard Clarke says that Condi Rice looked confused when he mentioned Al Qaeda ... but he didn't manage to get any reference to Al Qaeda included in your final report on security threats? What do you expect the American people to think? No ... wait. I'll tell you what they think. They think Richard Clarke was lying. They think he lied when he said that Al Qaeda was one of your top national security priorities. Now, after hearing this about your final report, they not only think Richard Clarke was lying, now they know he was lying. Nice going. NOW THIS WOULDN'T BE GOOD We're now learning that the final report from the 9/11 Commission might be delayed ... delayed until after the election. Why? Because the Bush White House needs to "vet" the report. The purpose of the vetting is to see if there is anything in the report that could, in any way, compromise America's intelligence gathering abilities or the pursuit of the war on terror. Not good. If the Bush administration is dumb enough to delay the release of this report until after the election ... for whatever reason ... the Democrats and their fellow travelers in the media will have a field day. Protecting our intelligence sources and covert methods of battling terrorism mean nothing to the left when it comes to partisan politics. The White House needs to call Vets Are Us and get some additional vetters .... fast. TEDDY KENNEDY SAYS IRAQ IS BUSH'S VIETNAM Yesterday in a speech at the Brookings Institution, noted Bush-hater and preeminent moron Teddy Kennedy gave a partisan election-year speech slamming President Bush on just about everything he could think of. That's right...Teddy Kennedy...the patron saint of all that is well and good in the Democratic party. The big headline-grabber was that he called Iraq "George Bush's Vietnam." First of all, the comparison to Vietnam is flawed...there is no comparison between Iraq and Vietnam. In Iraq, the United States captured the country and remains in control. In Vietnam, over 50,000 American lives were lost. In Iraq so far, 610. While every death is a tragedy, it is worth pointing out the total to discredit Senator Kennedy's intellectually bankrupt assertion. And how is this George Bush's Vietnam, anyway? Isn't it more of Bill Clinton's doing? How many years of UN resolution after UN resolution did we sit through, with President Clinton doing next to nothing about enforcing them? Kennedy went on: "Saying whatever it takes to prevail has become standard operating procedure in the Bush White House. In this administration, truth is the first casualty of policy." Well isn't this rich. Teddy Kennedy is lecturing President Bush about telling the truth! What's next? A speech on sobriety? Kennedy also accused Bush of having the biggest credibility gap since Richard Nixon. Unfortunately Senator, you got that one wrong too. Those honors went to Bill Clinton. Nice try, though. BIG SPENDER sKERRY IS NOW A FISCAL CONSERVATIVE In a never-ending effort to appear relevant and actually make some news, John Kerry has decided to accuse President Bush of overspending. Now while it is true that President Bush has never met a spending bill he didn't like, it's also true that John Kerry is an even bigger spender. Shouldn't throw stones if you live in a glass house, you know. In a "report" (press release) put out by the sKerry campaign yesterday, they claim that Bush has "proposed or passed" $6 trillion in new initiatives, but haven't said how they are going to pay for them. Perhaps the good Senator Kerry would wish to consult his copy of The Constitution, where he will find nothing about the president of the United States single-handedly passing spending bills. But why argue over such minor fine points...after all, when most of your constituency isn't that bright, you can sneak one by them once in awhile. The fact of the matter, as was quickly pointed out by the Bush campaign, is that John Kerry is an even bigger spender. What Kerry is proposing would cost even more. The difference? Kerry would raise your taxes to pay for it all. You see, when it comes right down to it, John Kerry and the Democrats view tax cuts as "spending." Since all of the money belongs to the federal government and not you, any amount they allow you to keep costs the federal treasury. Why, you should be grateful with what they allow you to keep! It is also worth pointing out that Kerry has voted for many of the spending proposals that he is now criticizing President Bush for supporting. In addition, the sKerry campaign hasn't released their own budget detailing which programs they would cut either. Time to put up or shut up. FARKED AGAIN Remember Neal's crazy shirt? Looks like it's been farked again. Here's the whole PhotoShop contest. Thanks to Rich for the heads up. READING ASSIGNMENTS I'm not the only one with questions about those Purple Hearts Kerry got in Vietnam. Brandon Miniter has two questions that Condi Rice should ask the 9/11 Commission. If we're going to protect Americans from terrorism ... we must do something to control our borders. A poll out says President Bush is losing support on Iraq. Did anyone ask you? Me? Now you know where most polls belong....at the bottom of a bird cage. A Claremont Professor accused of staging a hate crime just to stir things up has (surprise!) a criminal record. The charges? Shoplifting and driving without a license. What a loser. Secretary of State Colin Powell is rejecting a proposed UN probe into the allegations by Jean-Bertrand Aristide that he was kidnapped and forced from Haiti. Now what will the Congressional Black Caucus do? George Will compares the situation in Iraq to that of the war in Kosovo 5 years ago. Our military campaigns to protect and liberate Muslims haven't exactly been rewarded. P.J. O'Rourke has held a grudge against John Kerry for 18 years...and it's interesting to read why. A journey back to yet another time sKerry was having it both ways. Jonathan Rauch writes that like it or not, Israel's war on Hamas is America's too. What's the difference between Israel killing Ahmed Yassin and our trying to kill Osama Bin Laden? Absolutely nothing. Dennis Prager asks some really good questions: how come there aren't any Christian suicide bombers? Why are the targets of Islamic terrorism always blamed? Joel Mowbray notes how the Council on American-Islamic relations (CAIR) didn't seem to be particularly outraged by the killing and mutilation of the four Americans in Fallujah. David Limbaugh says the Iraqi violence should strengthen the United States' resolve, not weaken it. Following the Tyco mistrial, Thomas Sowell has some great ideas of how to fix the jury system. He suggests making it a felony to publish a juror's name, for starters. A good read. Bruce Bartlett explains just who pays the taxes in this country. It isn't the poor...it isn't the middle class....the facts just may surprise you. |
