THINGS
WE WOULD LIKE TO HEAR A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE SAY
Like you, I'm getting a bit weary of all of this arguing over what did and
didn't happen to John Kerry in Vietnam. Things might be a bit different
today if Kerry had not made his Vietnam service the focal point of his entire
campaign. In short, John Kerry set this table, now he has to sit at it.
Anyway ... this morning I engaged in a bit of fantasy. I thought about
some things I would like to hear either a Republican or Democratic presidential
candidate say during a major speech: "Is my opponent talking about health care? Yes, he is.
He's talking about how to get the government even more involved in your
day-to-day relationship with your doctor. He's talking about limiting
your freedom to make your own health care decisions. He's talking about
putting the government in charge, and he's talking about spending over a
trillion dollars to do it. I want to put you back in the driver's
seat. You belong to you, not to the government, and you should make the
decisions about your own health care. The competitive free enterprise
system is the greatest system ever devised by man to deliver essential goods
and services to the people at a reasonable price. For years the
government has been interfering with the health care free market. Now
that power rests in government, not the competitive marketplace, we can all
see the problems this shift has caused. We will return the power to the
marketplace and your control over your health care decisions to you." "If elected I will immediately seek a repeal of the McCain Feingold
campaign finance reform act. If we could use some sort of time travel to
bring Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton and John Adams to visit us today
during this presidential election, they would be repulsed by the idea that a
group of ordinary citizens can't get together and pool their resources to
support or oppose a specific presidential candidate. Our Constitution
protects free speech ... and no speech is more worthy of protection than
political speech. Not only will I ask for repeal of this dangerous law,
but I will insure that any appointments I may be privileged to make to the
Supreme Court will have a history of strong support for the free speech rights
of Americans. And while we're discussing free speech, I believe that all
First Amendment protections should be applied to the broadcast media as they
are to the printed media." "It is clear that our current system of raising revenue for the
federal government is broken. If you have even the most basic sense of
fairness and equity you will agree that there is no excuse for shouldering the
top one percent of income earners in this country with 38% of our total income
tax burden when they earn 17 of our total income. The Fair Tax plan
allows every American to take home 100% of their paycheck, free from any
federal withholding of any kind. It protects America's poorest families
from any federal taxes of any type. With the Fair Tax our economy will
become a tax-free haven for every business in the world. With the Fair
Tax you would have to hide to avoid a good job ... so if you don't want to
work, you had better start looking for a place to hide now, because if I'm
elected the Fair Tax will become a reality." "Perhaps the greatest fraud ever committed against the American people
is Social Security. The government takes about 14% of the money you earn
and then says that it might ... that's might give it back to you when you
reach a certain age, an age subject to being increased, if you agree to stop
earning money. Do you know that if you die this money just goes
away? Don't you think that at the very least the money that is taken
from your paychecks while you're alive should belong to your wife, husband or
children when you die? And here's something else I'll bet you didn't
know. In America black men have the lowest life expectancy, and white
women live the longest. Social Security statistics show that the average
black man loses $10,000 of his lifetime earnings to a white woman. Is
there a problem here? Of course there is ... and as your president I'm
going to work to give you control over your Social Security account.
It's your money. The returns should be guaranteed, and they should go to
your family if something should happen to you." "I don't do drugs, and hopefully you don't either. But it's time
to recognize that our war on drugs isn't working. We have the research
to show that the most cost-effective way to get people off drugs is through
treatment. What is our goal here? Do we want to move people off
debilitating drugs and toward a productive life, or do we want to spend
billions of dollars trying to punish them? A non-violent drug offender
does not belong in a cell. He belongs in a treatment program that will
return him to his family and his workplace. The hideous amount of money
we're spending on this absurd war on drugs belongs back in the pockets of the
people who earned it. It's time to put our revulsion aside
and deal intelligently with the drug problem."
I do have a rich fantasy life, don't you think? Do you have any
submissions you would like to share? THE
MUQTADA AL-JERK IS READY TO NEGOTIATE ... AGAIN.
Right now, U.S. forces have a mosque in Najaf surrounded with Islamic
terrorist Muqtada al-Sadr's militia inside. These are the people that have
been shooting and killing Coalition forces for weeks. Now comes word that
al-Sadr is ready to negotiate and end the standoff. Huh?
How many times are we going to play this little game? This guy has offered
to negotiate before, then hasn't. Isn't this about the fourth time?
He even refused to meet with an Iraqi peace delegation. How much longer
are we going to put up with his nonsense? What are we waiting for...him to
surrender sometime next year? Every time he pulls this little stunt he
gets stronger. Every time he begs for negotiations he gains the strength
he needs to kill more Americans.
We've got the place surrounded...it's filled with these Islamic thugs that are
directly responsible for the loss of American lives. What are we waiting
for? I'm not saying we should blow up the Mosque. Just seal it off
and wait them out. Let the Iraqi security forces go in and flush the rats
into the open. If they're carrying guns, shoot them. If they're
unarmed, imprison them. No more negotiations. Any further
negotiations with this goon will be seen as a sign of weakness. It's time
to show some strength. ISLAMIC TERRORISTS STRIKE AGAIN? Two jet airliners take off from the same airport within forty minutes of each
other, and crash. What are the odds? Astronomical, that's what the
odds are. The first thought that pops into your mind is terrorism.
Russia has a problem with Islamic terrorists just as we do. The media
likes to refer to them as Chechnyan terrorists. Yeah, they're from
Chechnya ... but they're also Muslims. If I had to come up with another possible scenario ... one not involving
intentional human sabotage or a hijacking ... I would look to see if both of
these airplanes were refueled from the same truck, and I would have a close look
at the fuel remaining in that truck. I'm writing this bit on Tuesday evening. We'll know a lot more in the
morning --- but at least this serves as a reminder that there are Islamic
terrorists out there who want to kill ... and to kill as many as possible.
We should be spending a bit more time thinking about these Islamic goons, don't
you think? FEC
TO KERRY ... FORGET ABOUT IT
Well, so much for The Poodle's complaint with the Federal Election
Commission. Turns out the Clinton-appointed chairman of the FEC is not
only supportive of The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, he's also a
Republican. He also says it's unlikely the FEC will rule on the Kerry
campaign's complaint before November 2nd. Looks like the Swiftees are here
to stay. Go back and read that bit where I wrote "Clinton-appointed."
Unbelievably, Bradley Smith, the chairman of the FEC actually believes in free
speech. He says "I think it's great we live in a country where
260 average guys can go out and put their point of view out there before the
public and influence a major presidential race. I am not one who agrees it
is illegitimate for citizens to take a stand on these kind of issues and only
the politicians should be able to say what they want about the issues they want
to talk about.'' Not exactly the answer Kerry's people were looking for.
Freedom of speech...that's what the First Amendment is for. Too bad
neither The Poodle nor President Bush see it that way. HAVE
YOU EVER SEEN THIS SENTENCE IN A MAJOR NEWSPAPER?
Certainly you've read many stories over the past months about the television
advertisements being run by Moveon.org and The Media Fund. But have you
ever seen this sentence, or anything like it, in any of those stories? color="#000080">"Moveon.org, an organization
bankrolled by John Kerry supporters ......" Now you're reading about the television ads being placed by The Swift Boat
Veterans for Truth. In reading those stories how many times have you seen this
sentence, or something like it: "A group of Vietnam veterans
bankrolled by George Bush supporters ...." Do I really have to say any more? It seems that the only way the media can defend its candidate is to tie any
detractors to George Bush. Weak.

KERRY
CAMPAIGN'S TIES TO 527 GROUPS
OK ... so I am going to say some more.
There is a story circulating out there that a Bush campaign attorney also
advised the Swift Boat Veterans. The left (including the media) is
screaming "gotcha!" But wait, it turns out this is more of a
case of the pot and the kettle. The acknowledgment by attorney Benjamin
Ginsberg is being cited as supporting The Poodle's complaint that Bush is
coordinating with the Swiftees. But Ginsberg says the group came to him
only for advice on how to properly follow the wretched disaster known as the
McCain-Feingold campaign finance legislation. There are only so many
lawyers that know how it works, and he is one of them.
Since the media won't tell you about it, shall we highlight the extensive ties
between The Poodle's campaign and the Bush-bashing Moveon.org? The lawyers
for the DNC are doing the same thing. That's right...you have all this
outrage on the left over all this supposed "coordination" but the
Democrats are doing the exact same thing. You want a name? We have a
name! The lawyer's name is Joe Sandler, and he works for both the DNC and
Moveon.org. Let's recap, shall we? - The Swiftees go to Benjamin Ginsberg, an acknowledged expert on
McCain-Feingold, and asks him for advice on how to abide by the law as they
run their ads. The Kerry campaign cites that as proof of collaboration
between the Bush campaign and the Swiftees, and the media jumps right on
board.
- Joe Sandler works for both the DNC and Moveon.org, and the media ignores
it.
In neither case is a law or rule being violated. When the
Democrats do it, it's fine. When the Republicans do it, it's evil. WHAT
A GREAT SCAM!
I don't know the address, and I wouldn't share it with you if I knew.
Why not? Because those of you educated in government schools might
actually fall for it. But there's a website out there that will permit you
to invest money in some interest bearing account. Then, at some time
in the distant future when time travel is actually perfected, this company will
send a time traveler back to you with your investment and all of the interest it
has earned over the years. Fantastic! What an imagination! OH!
SO NOW HE'S ADMITTING IT?
For a short time last night Drudge had an interesting tease on his website ..
.then it was gone. The tease indicated that the Kerry campaign is now
saying that The Poodle's wound that brought his first Purple Heart just may have
been unintentionally self-inflicted. False alarm? At least the Kerry campaign could have the decency to admit that Dr. Louis
Letson, the physician who treated Kerry for that wound, wasn't, as they've
charged, a "phony doctor." PERSPECTIVE
FROM AN UNLIKELY SOURCE
You may have heard that Bruce Springsteen and a bunch of other leftist
"artists" are going out on the "Vote for Change" tour.
This Bush-bashing soiree contains other acts, including Jackson Browne, the
Ditzy Chicks and other assorted do-gooders. Their mission: to elect The
Poodle. They probably think that people actually care. Good for
them.
Anyway, it was refreshing to read this quote from of all people, Alice Cooper.
Speaking about the acts that are touring against George Bush he had this to say:
"If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who
to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because
we're morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit
around reading the Washington Journal." He also said that mixing rock
and roll with politics was treason.
Finally, an entertainer that gets it...even if he is...well...a little
different.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP! Thank you Boortz listeners for your generosity during the News/Talk 750 WSB
Care-A-Thon. This year we raised $712,000 for the AFLAC Cancer Center and
Blood Disorders Service of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. READING ASSIGNMENTS A few days ago I told you that the Bush campaign had never questioned or
challenged Kerry's military record in Vietnam. The Kerry campaign, on the
other hand, had questioned Bush's record of service in the Texas Air National
Guard. Well,
here's a link to a page from the Kerry - Edwards campaign website questioning
Bush's record. Now you Kerry folks go find a similar page from the Bush
campaign site. Find it, present it, or shut up. An
interesting quiz from the Libertarians for Bush website. Walter Williams takes
on the appeasers with a history lesson. He says we've tried it their
way before. The record is not so good.
Interesting....John
Kerry went on 'The Daily Show' and admitted that President Bush was a good
debater, and has won every debate he has ever had. The Poodle also
said he wasn't the most liberal member of the Senate, even though he is.
Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch is voting for George Bush. The
reason? "The Democratic Party just doesn't have the stomach to go after
terrorists." Sounds about right to me.
Joining Ed Koch in the Bush line is
the Democratic mayor of Youngstown, Ohio, who asks what the Democrats have
done for his town lately.
The union thugs are already
pledging to monitor polls in battleground states on Election Day to guard
against voting abuses. Perhaps not voting for John Kerry will be
considered an "abuse."
The Poodle's campaign website actually boasts of their links to 527 groups...where
is the media on this? Oh, that's right...no political stories unless they
help Kerry.
Here's
the whole Alice Cooper story....by the way, have you seen that Staples
commercial with him in it? Hilarious.
The Euro-weenies and assorted liberals in this country are upset at the way we
are doing the
terrorist tribunals down at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. They're right...we
should just take them out and shoot them instead.
The Poodle served in Vietnam, while President Bush and Vice President Cheney did
not. Why then does John Kerry lack the respect of the other Vietnam
vets? Ralph
Peters explains that heroes don't shout.
John Kerry keeps revising the circumstances surrounding his Vietnam service.....and
Christopher Hitchens says it is not so swift.
Where will you find the largest concentration of Kerry supporters? Look no
further than the media, who has left little doubt of who they want to win.
Jeff
Jacoby takes a look.
The media is coming unglued over the Swift Vets....and the Kerry campaign is
reeling. Mark
Steyn tells us more. Hot-saucing?
The networks are falling into line with the Kerry campaign and coming out
against free speech. The
Media Research Center has a report. As usual, the bias is off the
charts.
The Kerry campaign says the Bush people have no right to question his record
because they didn't serve in Vietnam. Jonah
Goldberg says now that people who did serve with Kerry in Vietnam are
questioning his service, they can't take it.
Professor Mike Adams answers some reader e-mail, and it isn't pretty.

The Border Patrol agents that are trying to defend the nation's borders are
catching flack from both parties. Michelle
Malkin says our border security is a joke.
And now part
two of Thomas Sowell's column about the Vietnam Vets vs. John Kerry. There's
another book The Poodle doesn't want you to read. |
