MERRY CHRISTMAS!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

(AND WHATEVER GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS MIGHT BE APPROPRIATE FOR YOUR PARTICULAR RELIGIOUS AND/OR SECULAR BELIEFS!

I will be taking time off between now and January 3rd to relax with my family and to work on the Fair Tax book.  In the meantime Bryan, Belinda, Royal and Laura will provide you with some notes and reading assignments.  I'll be sticking my own two-cents worth in every once in a while.  Rest assured, if something big happens I'll be behind the microphone in a flash ... so don't stray too far.

TSUNAMI DEATH TOLL TOPS 20,000

In case you were sitting there in your nice cozy house not being affected by a giant earthquake or tsunami, perhaps you really do have something to be thankful for this year. The now tens of thousands of dead from that natural disaster in Asia weren't so lucky. Perhaps you'd like to kick in a few bucks to help.

The American Red Cross is accepting href="https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation- form.asp" target="doc win">donations at its website, as well as through your local chapter. Now...on with the Nuze.

Pictures of the devastation
here, here, here, here, here and here.

ISLAMIC KILLERS' HOME VIDEO

Just like they said they would, the terrorists that murdered those U.S. soldiers at the mess tent in Mosul released the video on the Internet showing themselves loading up the suicide bomber and the subsequent bombing itself. The video was posted on a website by the Islamic terrorist group Ansar al-Sunna.

On the tape, a voice is heard to say "Let Bush, Blair and Allawi know that we are coming and that we will chase them all away, God willing." Essentially, it's the same usual BS....Allah says it's okay...we'll kill as many Americans as possible...God willing, and on and on. This group has ties to Al-Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden, so you can see the pattern.

It's easy for everybody in the United States to look at these suicide bombers and discount their intentions, because, after all, they're "over there." Well, guess what: it won't be long before they make it over here. Think of all the crowded places you visit in one day. A restaurant? A food court at the mall? A sporting event? All it would take would be one of these Muslim fanatics to strap on his bomb, walk into a crowd and pull the cord.

Just keep in mind that's why we're fighting and killing Islamic terrorists abroad. So we don't have to face the vicious bastards here.

POLL SHOWS TROOPS SUPPORT WAR

The left and the mainstream media have painted this picture in the press over the holidays that all of these poor, victimized souls are stuck serving their country in Iraq. The implication is that they don't want to be there, and don't believe in the mission. Now, granted, they'd probably rather be at home, but that's not what this is about. We're supposed to believe the war is unpopular with the rank and file.

Well, guess what...a recent poll shows just the opposite. According to a Military Times poll, 63% approve of the way President Bush is handling the war and 60% remain convinced it is a war worth fighting. 87% say they're satisfied with their jobs and only 25% say they'd leave the service. Doesn't square with what's being reported, does it? It's sure beginning to look like the leftist propaganda being churned out by the media in this country doesn't cut it. Then again, it never did.

How about some more statistics? 75% of the military folks polled oppose the draft. Again, these are soldiers that are already serving in the field. And what about the body armor shortage? Who do they blame for that? George Bush? Donald Rumsfeld? Nope. 60% blame the body armor shortage on Congress. By the way, for the most part, there isn't an armor shortage. Oh...and one more: who do the troops blame for Abu Ghraib? Doesn't seem like they really care....only 12% blame policymakers at the Pentagon.

So, the facts are in. The troops support the mission, and they support the president. Kind of makes it more difficult for liberals to portray the troops as the victims in Iraq. Of course, they'll do it anyway and as usual, the media will let them get away with it.

MEDIA DECLARES CHRISTMAS A BUST

Well, Christmas is over, and the reports are coming in from the media and they don't look good. The overwhelming verdict? The Christmas shopping season was a complete bust, retailers are disappointed and nobody bought anything. How will the republic survive?

They are now reporting that the public is out in force looking for the cheapest price. Imagine that! Shoppers looking for a bargain? How dare they! Don't they know they're supposed to go to these stores and pay as much as possible? So let me get this straight....we're supposed to believe:

  • Retail sales have been disappointing, yet....
  • Stores and mall parking lots are jammed with bargain hunters looking for deals, because....
  • The economy is rebounding, however...
  • We're supposed to believe the entire holiday season was lackluster. Right.

Now ask yourself this: when is the last time you read a story that said Christmas shopping was going like gangbusters and retailers were having the Christmas of their dreams? That's right, never. Every year it's the same thing: shoppers aren't spending enough and are looking for bargains. When's the last time somebody wanted to pay more for something? Does anyone not ever look for the best price?

The bottom line is doom and gloom sells, and that's how the media spins things.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Things must be slowing down in the race warlord business. Jesse Jackson is accusing George W. Bush of making Jesus Christ homeless. Aren't there some corporations you could be shaking down, Jesse?

Looks like the CIA uses a not-so-secret jet to transport Islamic terrorists from one country to another for questioning. They might even be tortured her or there. They should have thought about that before they became terrorists.

George Bush's speeches about liberty and freedom sound an awful lot like John F. Kennedy, Harry Truman and at times, FDR.

href="http://www.boston.com/news/globe/ editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2004/12/26/ in_the_footsteps_of_fdr_truman_jfk/" target="doc win">Jeff Jacoby looks at the similarities. By the way, you can read all of the presidential Inaugural addresses here.

Democracy is booming all over the world at a successful rate, and it's worth noticing. Afghanistan just had elections, Iraq's are on track for next month and the Ukraine just had theirs.

href="http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/ opedcolumnists/37114.htm" target="doc win"> Ralph Peters says it's a sight to behold.

Despite the left's attempts to ban Christmas, Mark Steyn says the whole strategy has backfired. People revolted and said

href="http://www.suntimes.com/output/steyn/cst-edt- steyn26.html" target="doc win">"Merry Christmas" anyway.

The Republicans of today are looking more and more like the liberals of the past.

Why all of a sudden does the Bush administration seem to be sucking up to Kofi Annan? Robert Novak says it's because they want the U.N.'s help in the Iraq elections.

The confirmation hearings for Condoleezza Rice may be the easy part...

Professor Mike Adams has a way to improve higher education in this country, and it all comes down to one simple rule change: abolish tenure. As always, a good read.

Straight out of the 60's and 70's political graveyard comes George McGovern, who has decided that the U.S. should pull out of Iraq and walk away.

href="http://www.townhall.com/columnists/ davidhorowitz/dh20041227.shtml" target="doc win">David Horowitz calls that nonsense, and goes on to explain where the extreme left is coming from on this one.

Maybe if you're good, grandma will knit you one of these next year. I'd really love to see someone try to rob a bank wearing one of these. Would that footage be hilarious?
