Wednesday, February 4, 2004KERRY WINS BIG, EDWARDS TAKES SOUTH CAROLINA, WEASLEY GRABS OKLAHOMA
As expected, John Kerry had a big night last night, winning 5 of the 7 states that held primaries yesterday. His victories included Delaware, Missouri, Arizona, North Dakota and New Mexico. John Edwards posted a huge win in South Carolina and a strong showing in Oklahoma, where Weasley Clark squeaked out his first victory by just a couple thousand votes. Not too shabby for the Kerry folks, who still would have rather won all 7 and buried the others. It would seem we have ourselves a bit of a race here. The strong number 2 in all of this has to be John Edwards, who now has a big victory under his belt. As we move on to the southern states (Tennessee and Virginia February 10th) a strong showing by Edwards could continue to promote him as an alternative to Kerry. This means at least 2 candidates will be duking it out on Super Tuesday, the 10-state primary held March 2nd. There's also always a chance that some damaging revelation could come out of Kerry's past and threaten his nomination. This is far from over. And what about Weasley? Well, he did win Oklahoma last night, beating John Edwards by 1,275 votes. Not exactly a landslide. But he has won one more state than Howard Dean, so that has to be good for something. Speaking of the Deanie Babies, their man once again came up short. No victories last night either. Time for the good doctor to throw in the towel and go back to Vermont. The most damning statistic for the Dean campaign was the exit polling data in South Carolina that showed the Iraq war was the biggest concern for only 11 percent of the voters. It was his signature issue, and people don't really care. Officially done last night was Joe Lieberman, who bowed out of the race. Al Sharpton, bolstered by his 10% showing in South Carolina will continue riding the campaign gravy train...that is if the Federal Election Commission doesn't shut him down first. AND THIS GUY MUST FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT![]() What do you want to bet he's buying a lot of long sleeved shirts lately? WHITE HOUSE FIRES BACK OVER BUSH AWOL ACCUSATIONS As we told you yesterday, this business about George Bush's military service record is an astonishing double standard. The same liberals that are whining about the president being "AWOL" or a "deserter" were the same people trying to convince us in 1992 that Bill Clinton's draft-dodging was no big deal. Surely the Democrats don't think we're that stupid. White House spokesman Scott McClellan called the accusations "shameful" and "the worst of election-year politics." He said "Bush fulfilled his duties" and was honorably discharged. End of story. That should be where it ends. Apparently the military's decision that Bush's service was honorable doesn't sit well with the nutcases on the left. DNC Chairman Terry McAwful said he looks forward to a debate with John Kerry, a candidate with a chest full of medals, against George Bush, who he says "was AWOL in the Alabama National Guard." Of course, the charge isn't true. But what about the debates with World War II hero George Bush the elder and draft-dodger Bill Clinton? Weren't we told that 'character didn't matter?' What a bunch of lying, hypocritical phonies. Oh..and what about Howard Dean? He had a medical deferment for a bad back. That didn't stop him from going skiing. Who cares. The fact of the matter is the Vietnam war was unpopular and a lot of people got out of going any way they could. Of course, facts don't mean much to left-wing Democrats. NIPPLEGATE: EVERYONE IS SO OUTRAGED THEY CAN'T STOP WATCHING IT Allright people..this is all starting to ring just a little hollow. For the last 3 days we have been serenaded with the neverending parade of outrage over the Janet Jackson breast flap on Superbowl Sunday. The FCC is going to investigate, CBS is considering banning Jackson and Justin Timberlake from the Grammys on Sunday. Parents are outraged from sea to shining sea that their children were exposed to such indecency. Their lives will never be the same! Spare me. It seems that people were so upset by what happened that they can't stop watching it. According to Tivo, the incident drew the most audience reaction ever, as people played and replayed the footage at home. Apparently the whole thing was so terrible, they wanted to watch it over and over again. Right. And now it is being reported that Janet Jackson exposing her breast is now officially the most searched event in the history of the internet. That is 60 times more than the Paris Hilton sex tape. I guess people were just doing more "outrage research." Uh-huh. JUST TO MAKE THE LEFT MAD ... The union-dominated system of government education in this country is, by any measure, pathetic. These schools have become little more than indoctrination centers where children learn that the government is the answer to all difficulties that life may throw in their way. But ... the indoctrination doesn't work on all the students. Here's a letter I received from a Florida high school student:
OH .. AND I HATE BILL GATES I'm just going to have to figure out another way to do these program notes every day. I sit here for three hours making notes in this damned FrontPage 2000 software ... and then just before I get ready to download them into the Internet I get that message which says "This program has quit responding. Click OK to terminate the program. All unsaved data will be lost." I think I'll just get a little bell that goes off every 120 seconds ... when that bell goes off I'll hit the "save" function so that I'll have somewhere to go when the inevitable shutdown happens. Man, this sucks. READING ASSIGNMENTS Here are the full results from yesterday's 7 primaries, in case you missed anything. Things sure aren't looking very good for Howard Dean, either. Once banking on trying to make a strong showing in Michigan, the latest polls there say otherwise. Don't worry about these polls that show Kerry leading Bush nationwide. Once the skeletons start coming out of the Senator's closet, people will get to know him a little better and make a more informed choice. You've got to be kidding me. The new White House budget for 2005 contains a $1.2 billion, 30-year loan to the United Nations to renovate their headquarters and build a new annex. The real outrage? The UN is upset that we're planning on charging them interest. The Media Research Center reports that CNN and ABC News have cleared George Bush on the AWOL issue. Oh no...my summer is ruined. Rosie O'Donnell's new memoir will not be published as scheduled. Walter E. Williams explains who the anti-free trader's true enemy is. A teen hacker was given 200 hours of community service for hacking into a top secret US weapons laboratory and triggering a nuclear terrorism alert. I feel safer already. A man upset about losing a bet on the Superbowl jumped off a bridge...and survived the 10-story leap. Not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. I guess God does have mercy on the stupid. Wonder how the Rev. Al Sharpton is financing his campaign, or better yet, why he is running? This article should give you a good idea. | |
