LET'S TALK ABOUT "YOUR" JOBS

Jobs .. and the economy.  Those seem to be the issues that are driving many, if not most, of those who are supporting the Kerry candidacy.

First of all ... I'm going to repeat this simply because it makes the whiners so unbelievably angry.  Listen up.  They're not your jobs!  The jobs belong to the employers .. not to you!  You have job skills and, presumably, a willingness to work.  Your task in a free economy is to get out there and find some employer with a job who needs your skills ... and strike a deal.

If you do not have the particular set of job skills that an employer needs, or if you have priced your labor out of the marketplace, guess what?  It's not the employer's fault.  The fault lies with you.  Either develop a new set of job skills that are actually in demand, or adjust your pricing.  The employer knows what he's looking for.  If you're not it .. it's your problem, not his.

Now ... you say you're going to vote for a Democrat this year because of jobs?  You mean to tell me that you're going to vote against George Bush this year because you don't have a set of job skills that are in demand in our free marketplace?  Yeah .. that makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?

Tell me.  Just what do you want the president to do?  You information technology people out there .. just what are you demanding?  Do you want companies to stop outsourcing IT jobs to India?  OK ... tell me how to do that.   These companies aren't shipping parts overseas and completed products back.  All they do is ship information overseas by phone lines or the Internet.  Then that information is modified and shipped back the same way.  What do you want the government .. the president to do?  Do you want some federal law that prohibits companies from transmitting information overseas by the Internet, having that information transformed or modified, and then shipped back?  And tell me just how do you enforce that law?  Does that law then apply to you also if you seek information from a company that is located overseas, thus depriving a domestic company of your business?

Ditto for manufacturing.   I've already told you the story about the California company that makes computer mouses.  (computer mice?)  This company ships the components to China.  The mouse is assembled in China and shipped back, then sold for around $40.  Why?  Because the assembly is cheaper in China than it would be in the US.  So, you say you want the president to force this company to have that mouse assembled in the US?  Fine .. then the price for the mouse goes up to about $70 a pop and sales drop.  As the sales drop the jobs of the people in this country who manufacture the components for that mouse go away.  Then the 100 marketing jobs this company supports in California also go away.  You see, perhaps you can succeed in forcing this company to assemble these mouses in the US, but there just isn't any way you can force the American consumer to pay 80% more for the "made in America" version.

As Bruce Bartlett says in an article listed in my reading assignments, "No nation has ever gotten rich by forcing its citizens to pay more for domestic goods and services that could have been procured more cheaply abroad."

What we are seeing here is a demonstration of the "government owes me" mentality of far too many Americans.  Every time you arrive at a speed bump in your life's journey you start screaming to the government for help.  Sure, the speed bump is going to slow you down a bit ... but just keep moving forward and things inevitably pick up speed again.  Americans are becoming helpless whiners.  The more helpless you are, and the more you whine, the more likely it is you're going to vote for a Democrat.  Democrats specialize in stroking the malcontent.

Congratulations, whiners.  At a time when America is fighting World War IV, the war against Islamic terrorism ... you're going to vote for a candidate who wants to treat terrorism as a freaking law enforcement problem because you've made some pitiful jobs choices.  Pitiful.

KERRY WINS WISCONSIN, EDWARDS RIGHT BEHIND

John Kerry picked up another win in Wisconsin last night, continuing to rack up delegates and try to sew up the nomination. Even though everyone would have you believe it is all over and Kerry is the nominee, Senator Edwards would beg to differ. He came in a fairly close second in Wisconsin and wants to make it a two-man race.

Kerry may be leading in the delegate count, but there are far more up for grabs on March 2nd (Super Tuesday.) Edwards now has two weeks to drum up support in states like Georgia, Ohio, New York and California. These are the real battleground states where the presidency itself will be decided.

As the Dean implosion illustrates, it doesn't take much to knock a guy off his perch.  One Kerry misstep could open the door for Edwards.  Remember Gary Hart.

Oh .. and isn't it sad the way the Deanie Babies are crying?  They actually sent a letter to the Democratic National Committee saying that if their guy doesn't win the nomination they're going to refuse to vote for any Democratic candidate who doesn't promise to repeal ALL of George Bush's tax cuts ... or, in other words, raise taxes on the top 50 percent of income earners.

SENATOR SPECIAL INTEREST: NBC EXPOSES MORE KERRY SCANDALS

If ever for a second you thought that John Kerry wasn't bought and paid for, then listen up.  Not only is Kerry's fund-raising Clintonesque, but so are the people involved. The list of principals reads like a greatest hits of the Clinton scandals.

NBC reporter Lisa Meyers told us that "Kerry now brags about standing up to special interests, he actually has sat down with many of them, inviting a who's-who of special interests to his home for dinner." Well, it's about time. We've been telling you for weeks that Kerry was a phony. Maybe the mainstream media is finally waking up.  Nice to see NBC finally joining the party.

Turns out in the summer of 2002, Kerry hosted a bunch of wealthy corporate donors at his home for a weekend on exclusive Nantucket Island. Among those attending, five representatives of companies under investigation by the SEC for accounting irregularities and misleading stock ratings. Let's see...parties for crooked corporate types...and this guy rails against Enron on the stump? Unbelievable.

Then, there's Johnny Chung. Sound familiar? Same Johnny Chung that was at the center of the Clinton-Gore fund-raising scandals. In 1996, Kerry met with Chung, faxed a letter on his behalf to the SEC,  and thanked him for helping him with his campaign. Within weeks, Chung holds a Kerry fund-raiser. You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. Unbelievably, at one point Kerry denied he had met Chung. I get it - we're all supposed to remember George Bush's National Guard service in Alabama over 30 years ago, but Kerry can't recall something that happened 8 years ago. Right.

The corrupt ways of John F. Kerry continue to be detailed. And the election is over 8 months away.

DEAN SORT OF QUITTING....PLANS TO END CAMPAIGN, STAY IN RACE

A report from the L.A. Times this morning says that Howard Dean intends to end his campaign, but stay in the race. "Though Dean is not going to formally drop out of the race, he is going to stop campaigning." The plan appears to be for the Deanie Babies to continue to vote for their guy and have a say at the convention. Interesting strategy. It's really a Kerry endorsement without endorsing Kerry.

It would have made things more interesting if he had thrown his support to Edwards.  Consider this: if all of the Deaniacs had voted for Edwards in the Wisconsin primary, Kerry would have lost by 12 points. Something to think about.

Not sure what Dr. Dean's point is here, but this officially makes it a two-man show between Kerry and Edwards. You're either in or you're out.

WHAT HAVE I BEEN TELLING YOU ABOUT ENVIRONMENTALISTS?

There's nothing like a little "I told you so" to start out the day.  This time the "I told you so" comes from the environmental left.

Yes .. I said environmental left.  For years I've been telling you folks that the environmental movement has been hijacked by the anti-capitalist left.  After the fall of communism and the associated discrediting of socialism leftist radicals needed a new home, a new base of operations from which to launch their attacks on capitalism and economic liberty.  The environmental movement suited their purposes just fine.  From the environmental pulpit the socialists could launch their broadsides against the capitalistic economy and the profit motive while accusing their detractors of wanting dirty air and water and desirous of wiping out various species of animals in their quest for obscene profits.

Well, we have a little story for you from Georgia today that will help prove my point.  For years Georgia has produced a special issue license plate for environmentalists.  Until now the plate has featured a quail in a pine tree.  Now, however, there is a new plate.  Here it is ... take a look.

Rather nice, isn't it?  I like the eagle with the flag in the background. We have the quail in the tree plate now ... but I would like to exchange it for one of the new ones.  Well, that's just me, I guess.  Environmentalists are outraged.  Yes ... outraged.  One environmentalist says that he has many friends who refuse to buy the plate because it's too "rah-rah."  Oh my God!  Too "rah-rah?"  Wow!  The last thing we want to do is express any love for our country, right!  Mike Moody says that "I'm a patriot, but I'm not a gun-toting, flag-waving, Bush-loving patriot!"

A story in today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution reveals more of the leftist tilt of the environmentalists.  The AJC says that many environmentalists lean toward Green Party or Democratic candidates.  If you ever read the Green Party platform you will see that it is clearly socialist in nature.  The same can be said about much of the Democratic platform.  The AJC further reports that many environmentalists see a connection with the flag on the plate and George Bush.  Bush, they say, favors big business over the environment.  Oh ... and they also don't support the war in Iraq.

Jerry McCollum is the CEO of the Georgia Wildlife Federation.  He doesn't like the tag because " .. it was feeding off the patriotic mood our country was in."  Patriotism!  Oh no!

What about the rest of Georgia?  The eagle tag has sold more in the first two months than the old quail tag sold in an entire year.  It outsells another wildlife tag featuring a deer and a bobwhite by over two to one.  I guess patriotism is still in fashion in Georgia, as long as you're not an environmentalist.

I WONDER ...

... just what cabinet position Max Cleland thinks he's going to get because of his support of John Kerry.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Kerry is strongly critical of Bush's endorsement of preemptive war.  You may think he's right .. but that would be before you read this Tony Blankley column.  Learn what Kerry would do to protect American from further terrorist attack.

Michelle Malkin tells a tale of California Democrat Lynn Woolsey .. and correctly points out that if she were a Republican every single person in this country would know who she is and what she did by now. But .. she's a Democrat.  And so it goes.

The British tabloids are still on the John Kerry affair rumor.  Now they're wondering just what it is that caused Alex Polier's parents to suddenly voice their support for John Kerry for president  just days after calling him a "sleazeball."

Walter Williams with today's lesson in economics.  Since it is highly unlikely you got any economic education in school, you would be well advised to read this.  It's about the current jobs furor.

Pete du Pont writes that big government is very much alive and well.  While inflation has been running at 1.9% a year under George Bush, federal spending has been increasing by 6.5%.

More on today's political buzz word ... "Outsourcing."  Bruce Bartlett writes that even if the federal government wanted to stop it, it could not.

Cal Thomas says we've already had this whole argument over Bush's National Guard service once before. Time to move on.

In an investigation done by WorldNet Daily, many former airmen in the President's guard unit debunk the "AWOL" myths.

Senator John McCain says the Hanoi Hilton guards taunted him with John Kerry's testimony before congress.  So much for Kerry and his "Band of Brothers."

Get ready for the Haiti sob stories from the mainstream media. If you listen to the left, sending troops to Haiti to prop up Aristide is justified, sending troops to Iraq to defend America from terrorists is not. Nice logic.

David Brooks asks are the Democrats the party of John F. Kennedy, or Jimmy Carter? Interesting op-ed piece.

The U.S. has called on China to stop the spread of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Let's see if our "friends" in Asia are listening.

The 27-year old woman who has denied having an affair with Kerry has an interesting profile on the internet.

Former Atlanta pitcher Greg Maddux is expected to announce he has signed with the Chicago Cubs. Could be worse....at least it's not the Yankees.

Here's an interesting political movement: Republicans for Al "The Liar" Sharpton. At least someone is standing up for more entertaining debates.
