Thursday, February 19, 2004THIS JUST IN.... ... Reports that advanced equipment for the enrichment of uranium has been found in Iran. OK, let's see how long it takes for some Democrat to say the stuff was planted there by Bush. STEPPING ON TOES Do you really want to make someone completely and irrationally furious? It's really so simple. Just tell them that they bear the responsibility for where they are, right now, here, at this point in their lives. My sermon yesterday on the great jobs debate really rubbed some folks the wrong way ... especially those who have lost jobs to overseas competition. The last thing they wanted to hear was that these jobs were not theirs ... that they belonged to the employer and that the employer could damn well do what he wanted with them. Yesterday's email offerings called me everything ... monster, idiot, f***ing moron, nazi, fascist .. you name it. OK, whiners. Let's go to the bottom line here. So, you don't have a job. Well, guess what? MOST Americans do have jobs. Most Americans are working, earning a living, providing for their families, planning for the future, saving money, putting their children through college, and just generally living large. But you're not. Most Americans have jobs. You don't ... and you can't see that the problem here is YOU? Stop whining ... stop demanding the government save you from your own decisions ... and stop blaming your situation on someone else ... including the president. Grow up, suck it up and get out there and fight. You own you, nobody else does. If you own you then you are responsible for you. Accept the responsibility and knock off the damned whining. Boy ... I can hardly wait to see the email this afternoon. AND THE MEDIA WILL LET HIM GET AWAY WITH IT Multi-millionaire Senator and presidential candidate John Edwards is running a blatant class warfare advertisement in primary states. In the ad he talks about two health care systems, two education systems ... "one for the haves, and one for everybody else." The ad also says we have two tax systems, "... where the wealthy and corporations pay less, and working families pay more." What in the hell is he talking about? In this country 97% of all income taxes are paid by the top 50% of income earners. That means that the bottom 50% of income earners are paying virtually none ... a paltry 3% of the tax burden. The top 1% of income earners earn less than 18% of all income, but they pay 38% of all income taxes. Every single year the tax burden gets shifted more and more to the high income earners. And here comes John Edwards saying that we have two tax systems in America where the rich pay less and the working families pay more? Question: How does he get away with this blatant nonsense? Answer: Because he knows full well that ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC and the rest of the news networks will not, under any circumstances, give you the same statistics that I just related. In other words, the Washington and New York press corps will protect his class warfare rhetoric by withholding the truth. SOME RANDOM THOUGHTS
THAT WONDERFUL "RACISM" WORD Here we go, folks, with another mindless, absurd, idiotic accusation of racism. Since the accusation is, as I said, idiotic and mindless, you won't be surprised to learn that it comes from the wonderful world of academia ... that neverland where people with few marketable job skills make big bucks running or teaching in our colleges and universities. This one is from Pomona College in California. Students were having a photo scavenger hunt. You get your list of items or situations, grab your Polaroid and head out. One of the items on the list was a photograph of "10 or more Asians." Oh, the humanity! A photo of 10 or more Asians! Well ... it seems that Pomona College has an Incident Response Committee that is ready at a moment's notice to respond to "bias-related incidents and hate crimes." The committee meets and Ann Quinley, the Pomona College dean of students is charged with the responsibility of responding to this hideous infraction. Quinley sends an email to students saying "The potential of having numerous students run around campus trying to snap photographs with 10 or more Asian or Asian American people is racist, offensive, and in violation of shared community values." So, there you go my friends. Taking a picture of a member of an ethnic groups is apparently racist. The definition of "racism" used to be a belief in the inherent genetic superiority of one racial group over another. Now I would doubt that even an academia babe like Ann Quinley could make that definition stick to the mere act of taking a photograph. To do that you have to use the new definition of racism: "Any act which upsets or offends any member of a racial or ethnic group not white." I've never met Ann Quinley, but I'll bet the farm that two things about her are true: (1) She believes that she's smarter than the average American; and (2) She votes Democrat. By the way. If you want a picture with 10 Asian students in it ... take a picture of the next meeting of the Honor Society. POLLS SHOW KERRY WITH DOUBLE-DIGIT LEAD OVER BUSH This would actually mean something, except that the election is more than 8 months away. Of course, this won't stop headline after headline proclaiming President Bush is losing and "if the election were held tomorrow" Kerry would win. This is nothing more than a liberal media fantasy. People should be more skeptical of polls than they are. Remember when the polls in Iowa showed Howard Dean winning? He lost. Also, ask yourself this: did anybody ask you? Were you polled? Is a poll of 500 likely voters really an accurate representation of how millions of people are going to vote? Of course not. And how about the way the questions are asked? This has a huge effect on the response you get. These polls are almost never simply "who are you going to vote for," rather they are "push polls" that are designed to receive a particular response. Don't let the media and their polls tell you who to vote for. Make your own decision. KERRY OBJECTED TO REAGAN'S BOMBING OF QADAFFI Here is yet another frightening example of why John Kerry must be defeated. If you were even for a minute considering trusting the safety and security of your family and the United States with Senator Kerry, listen up. This will change your mind. In Sean Hannity's new book, he unearths a letter that John Kerry wrote criticizing President Reagan for the retaliatory bombing in 1986 of Libyan dictator Moammar Qadafi. In the letter, Kerry complains that Reagan "overreacted" to the bombing of a Berlin disco frequented by American troops. He claimed that our retaliation, which nearly killed Qadaffi, was not "proportional." Just whose side is this guy on, anyway? He also said that "we are not going to solve the problem of terrorism with this kind of retaliation." This is why Kerry must be stopped. We simply cannot have someone who will not defend the United States of America against attack without permission from some other country or the United Nations. Islamic terrorism is a threat to civilization as we know it, and John Kerry thinks it's a law enforcement problem. That's all you really need to know. AND YOU THINK YOUR STATE LEGISLATURE IS BAD The Georgia General Assembly has now used up almost one-half of its constitutionally allotted days for its annual session. Thus far they have accomplished three things.
Georgians are awaiting the remainder of this session with pregnant anticipation. SPEECHES AS TORTURE? Did you know that the North Vietnamese used to torture their captives at the Hanoi Hilton with details of antiwar speeches being delivered in the United States? They would cite these speeches as reasons why the captured American soldiers should cross over to their side. And just who's speech would they use? According to the LA Times they would use John Kerry's testimony for the Senate Foreign Relations committee in April of 1971. It was during that speech that Kerry said American soldiers were raping, dismembering, and randomly shooting Vietnamese civilians. Kerry later admitted that he had never seen these atrocities for himself ... but had merely heard about them. And you're getting ready to put a man in the White House who's words were used to torture American prisoners? AHHHH ...... GOVERNMENT Yesterday we learned that the judge in the Scott Peterson murder trial will allow evidence gathered by a GPS tracking device placed on Peterson's truck. The defense wanted that evidence disallowed because there was no proof that the technology was used "correctly." Mara Geragos said that the technology was "unreliable." Yeah ... right. The judge saw through this ploy .... and the evidence will be allowed. That brings me to a little government story .. this one involving aviation ... and GPS systems. I have three devices in my Mooney Ovation2 that use GPS systems. (Garmin 530, 430 and MX20). Each of these devices has a flash-card type database that must be updated every 28 days. The update process is simple. I plug a flash card reader into the USB port on a computer, go to the website with the subscription-based downloads, enter my user name and password, and click the mouse. The cards are updated and I'm good to go. Well .. there's some murmurs in the aviation community that the FAA may be getting ready to throw a monkey wrench in the works. Evidently some government types think that it would be a good idea to require all pilots who use these GPS aviation databases to go to a certified avionics technician to get their monthly upgrades. That would mean taking your aircraft to an avionics shop ... or bringing the tech to your airplane ... every 28 days. Then you provide your download user names and passwords, and the $75 an hour tech does what you've been doing for years. Probably annual cost? Around $1000 a year, plus incredible hassle. Government. Only government. READ THIS STUFF The Wall Street Journal calls Howard Dean the most consequential loser since Barry Goldwater. How would you like to be called a consequential loser? Do you know what a "broken glass Democrat" is? Peggy Noonan will explain. Starting to worry that the Kerry campaign's attacks on Bush are taking hold? Dick Morris says George Bush must start bashing Kerry now. Andrew Sullivan of the New Republic chronicles Kerry's flip-flops and says he'll say anything to get elected. The European Union finally got its head out of the sand and is going to allow armed sky marshals on certain flights. It's about time. It's Thursday...and you know what that means. Time for your weekly Ann Coulter fix. This week, she responds to what she wrote last week about Max Cleland. Not to be missed. Larry Elder explains that the world doesn't get the war on terror. He talks about an exchange with another person whose opinions are unfortunately widespread. Robert Novak puts into perspective the John Kerry and Jane Fonda saga. Worried that your job will go to India? Here's a little education on the matter provided by George Will. Howard Dean's promise that he "will not quit now or ever," seems to have been broken, and this column is a nice post-mortem on the Dean Candidacy. Tissues for Deanie Babies not included. |
