KERRY HAS TO BE KIDDING ... RIGHT?

This is oh so transparent.  You've heard about that letter that John Kerry sent to President Bush, haven't you?  Listen to this:  Kerry wrote Bush saying "Over the last week you and your campaign have initiated a widespread attack on my service in Vietnam, my decision to speak out to end that war, and my commitment to the defense of this nation."  What B.S.

What prompted this letter?  A statement from Georgia Senator Saxby Chambless saying "When you have a 32-year history of voting to cut defense programs and cut defense systems folks in Georgia are going to look beyond what he says and look at his voting record."

No look again at what Chambliss said:

"When you have a 32-year history of voting to cut defense programs and cut defense systems folks in Georgia are going to look beyond what he says and look at his voting record."

And look again at what Kerry wrote to Bush:

"Over the last week you and your campaign have initiated a widespread attack on my service in Vietnam, my decision to speak out to end that war, and my commitment to the defense of this nation."

You did notice, didn't you, that Chambliss' statement made absolutely no mention whatsoever of Kerry's service in Vietnam or his speaking out against the war.  Chambliss' statement was directed at Kerry's voting record.  Kerry knows it, and he knows that his voting record on defense is indefensible.  So ... the game plan here is to turn every single criticism of Kerry's voting record in the U.S. Senate into a slam on his service in Vietnam and his antiwar activities.

The Democrats want you to believe that if you go to Vietnam, suffer three minor wounds, two of which don't even take you off the battlefield, and then head back to the United States with four months of Vietnam service under your belt, you are forever inoculated against any charge that you have a weak voting record on national defense.

That's the Max Cleland approach.  Cleland goes to Vietnam, suffers greatly as a result of an accident that did  not occur in battle, and then becomes a United States Senator who believes that he can use his Vietnam service as a protective cloak while voting repeatedly against homeland security measures until government employee unions are satisfied that they will be essentially running the show.  If your political opponent happens to mention this pandering to government employee unions, you are assailing his patriotism.

If you have any rational and logical thought capabilities at all ... in other words, if you don't vote Democratic .... you can easily see how John Kerry formulated his game plan for seeking the presidency.

JUST IN:
New picture of John Kerry with Jane Fonda has surfaced.

When Kerry first started dreaming of a run for the candidacy he knew that he had some pretty tough things to overcome.  His protests against the Vietnam war were going to be somewhat of a problem at a time when American soldiers are fighting terrorism abroad.  Kerry knew that his Vietnam protests problem would be compounded by his association with Jane Fonda and the statements he made to congress about the actions of American soldiers in Vietnam.  He also knew he would have a problem with that event staged for the media where he claimed to throw his Vietnam medals over a fence at the Capitol.  (It was later revealed that Kerry actually kept his medals, but threw away the medals of another Vietnam vet.).

Then there was Kerry's voting record in the Senate.  It wasn't exactly the voting record one would want to bring to a campaign at a time when America is fighting a war against terrorism.  Kerry has voted against almost every new Pentagon weapons program since he was sworn in.  He voted against pushing Saddam out of Kuwait in 1991 and voted against continued funding of our efforts in Iraq in 2003.

Antiwar protests --- an association with Jane Fonda --- slandering American soldiers --- propping up Saddam --- an anti-military voting record --- plus a record in Vietnam that isn't quite as gleaming as the media portrays ... all campaign problems to be dealt with.

So ... here's the plan:

First you start bringing up your service in Vietnam in every single campaign appearance.  Every single time you open your mouth before a group of people you mention that "Oh, by the way, I served in Vietnam."

After virtually every American with a television set knows full well that you served in Vietnam, you send your myrmidons out to question Bush's service in the National Guard.  Democratic party hacks and operatives are enlisted to use terms like "AWOL" and "deserter" in describing Bush's service.  All the while you pretend to take the high road by staying above the fray, though you do make a public statement that equates service in the National Guard with dodging the draft.

OK ... the stage is set.  You are a Vietnam hero ... and Bush, having hidden in the Air National Guard,  is essentially a glorified draft dodger.  Now every single time your protests, your association with Fonda, your lies about American soldiers in Vietnam, your strongly anti-military voting record in the Senate, and your absurd idea that terrorism is a law enforcement, not a military problem is brought up, you can bellow that a man who didn't serve in Vietnam is challenging the patriotism of a man who did.

Do you want to see the Kerry game plan in action?  Just this weekend Kerry told reporters "I don't know what it is that the Republicans who didn't serve in any war have against those of us who are Democrats who did."

See how easy it is?  His anti-defense voting record means nothing.  His vote against continued funding for our troops in Iraq means nothing.   His vote against pushing Saddam out of Kuwait ..... all of this doesn't matter because HE served in Vietnam and the people who are criticizing his votes didn't.

Thankfully, the Bush campaign folks aren't going to be intimidated by this "You can't criticize me, I served in Vietnam" tactic.  Yesterday the Bush campaign responded to Kerry's absurd and transparent letter:  "Our campaign is not questioning your patriotism or your military service, but your votes and statements on issues now facing our country. Senator Chambliss addressed your Senate record of voting against the weapons systems that are winning the war on terror."

Just watch the campaign, my friends ... and see how well the Kerry strategy works.  The media will love it and will prop it up until they look ridiculous doing so.

You're trying to chose a Commander in Chief of America's armed forces who, for the next few years, we lead our armed forces as they fight World War IV, the war against Islamic Terrorism.   Here are your two choices:

A:  A man who's military service consists first of serving in the Air National Guard where he earned exemplary ratings from his superiors as a military leader and as a jet fighter pilot; and who then served for four years as  the Commander in Chief of America's armed forces.  During those four years as Commander in Chief he built the morale and strength of the U.S. armed forces; decimated the ranks of the Islamic terrorist organization that attacked America on 9/11, and liberated two countries -- freeing millions of people from tyranny in the process.  A man,  by the way, who has and will continue to have the respect and admiration of the men and women who serve our country in uniform.B: A man who went to Vietnam as a Naval officer suffered three flesh wounds, two of them minor, wrote some of his own commendations for Purple Hearts, and upon the receipt of his third Purple Heart immediately asked to be sent back to the United States.  Time in Vietnam?  Four months.  After discharge from the Navy this man became a radical opponent of the action in Vietnam, testifying before congress of various atrocities committed by American servicemen there which, admittedly, he did not witness.  This man then voted against virtually every major Pentagon weapons program during his tenure in the U.S. Senate.  He does not have and never will have the respect and admiration of the men and women who now serve our country in uniform.

DEMOCRATIC NIGHTMARE AS RALPH NADER ANNOUNCES FOR PRESIDENT

In what was the best news the Republicans have had in weeks, Ralph Nader announced he was running for president as an independent. Uh-oh...not good for the Democrats...and they know it.

After it was leaked that Nader was going to go 'Meet the Press' and announce he would be running, DNC chairman Terry "McAwful" McAuliffe was beside himself. "I don't want Ralph Nader's legacy to be 8 years of George Bush." McAuliffe also met with Nader trying to convince him not to run. On Face the Nation yesterday morning, the disappointed DNC chairman continued whining: "There are people all over the country wishing he hadn't done it before. They remember the 2000 election, they remember New Hampshire, they remember Florida, and the margins of victory there."  Of course, Nader got 97,488 votes in Florida, which George Bush won by just 537 votes.  Had Ralph Nader not been in the race, it's almost certain that enough votes would have gone to Gore to win the election.

It didn't stop there...New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson said Nader was running out of "personal vanity because he has no movement, nobody is backing him, the Greens aren't backing him, his friends urge him not to do it....It's all about himself." No movement? The election is over 8 months away, Governor. I would say he has time to come up with a movement.

The Republicans are playing this one right, saying they will win no matter who is in the race.  The Democrats know that Ralph Nader screwed them out of the Presidency in 2000, and they're mad it might happen again. Poor babies.

AND DID RALPH NADER COST GORE THE WHITE HOUSE?

Perhaps so, and for that the American people might just well owe Nader an immense debt that could never really be repaid.  But ... remember this.  All Al Gore had to do to win the White House in 2000 was to win his own freaking home state!  That's it!  Just win Tennessee and Al Gore is president!  What kind of a lame candidate can't even win his own state?

THE SECOND COMING OF HITLARY?

As time goes on, we're just getting to know the possible future First Lady of the United States of America, and it is quite interesting.  You'll be hearing even more about Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Democratic frontrunner. She has quite a track record, especially when it comes to the causes she donates to.

Turns out one of her favorite "charities" is the Tides Foundation. What is that you ask? This is an outfit that sends hundreds of millions of dollars to groups that protested the invasion of Iraq, demands open U.S. borders and provides legal defense for suspected terrorists. I don't think John Kerry's Vietnam service is going to make people look the other way on this stuff.

Among other groups supported by Kerry's wife: Ramsey Clark's International Action Center. This is the same Ramsey Clark that offered to defend Saddam Hussein. Another group seeks to ease restrictions on immigration from terrorist nations. Another group has links to the terrorist group Hamas. And on and on.

I didn't think it was possible to make Hillary Clinton look good, but Mrs. Kerry just might.

THAT TERRORIST PROTECTION WALL

Has the world gone completely nuts?  Israel is building a wall to protect itself from Palestinian terrorists.  Yesterday a Palestinian homicide bomber kills a bunch of people on the Israeli side of that as yet uncompleted wall.  Today Palestinians will protest the wall and that protest will be big news on the TV newscasts tonight.  The big news ought to be Israelis celebrating the wall.

A WEEKEND BOORTZ POLL

Over the weekend we ran a poll on Nealz Nuze asking  "Do you think same sexes being able to marry will affect your marriage?"  The results:  77% said "no."  Good going.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

George Will says the campaign finance reform act is a Constitutional obscenity.  George Will has never been so right. If you give a damn about your right to free speech you should read this.

Uh oh ... it seems we have a bit of a problem at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.  Apparently an administrator at UNCW says that the increase in the number of student Christian organizations is causing "concern" among some members of the university administration.  Maybe a quota on Christian organizations would help!

This gay marriage bit in San Francisco and elsewhere is making Democrats nervous.  That means it's all good.  Anything that makes Democrats nervous just has to be good.

The Texas A&M chapter of Young Conservatives of Texas are conducting a $10,000 essay contest.  The topic is "Overcoming Affirmative Action."  The non-PC title would be "Overcoming Racial Discrimination."

This writer wonders now that Iraqi civilians are dying, where is the outrage?  Where are the human shields? Of course, casualties only mattered to the media when it involved military action by the United States.

Which war matters most; the Vietnam war or the current war on terrorism?  Mark Steyn writes that Bush is winning the war that matters now.

Talks start in Beijing this week aimed at urging North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons. Think they're going to? Not a chance, this columnist says North Korea should instead be given an ultimatum.

George Will says to be careful what you say; it may be illegal. Excellent column about political speech and campaign finance reform.

Here's an interesting editorial that says Bush's immigration amnesty plan is an insult to America's citizens.  It hasn't worked in the past, and won't work now. Good article.

Here are some great words of advice. This columnist says that even with his flaws, President Bush is the only choice.  Given the importance of the war on terrorism, we cannot afford to turn power over to the Democrats.

Worried about "your job" being shipped overseas? The anti-outsourcing people should read this. As hard as it is for some people to accept, outsourcing is just good economics for America.

John Leo talks about euphemisms...and boy are there some dumb ones. Definitely worth reading.

Robert Novak weighs in on the gargantuan highway bill working its way through Congress. Members of both parties are already loading it up with pork.

The latest fad with teenage girls is to wear t-shirts with messages on them bashing boys. Sort of stupid, really, but it's got a lot of people worked up.

A former West Virginia football player was arrested yesterday after punching an airline deputy and yelling obscenities at airline employees at the airport in Fort Lauderdale. People like this should be kept in cages.

Debra Saunders writes that despite what people are saying, the "civil disobedience" of the San Francisco Mayor has no comparison to Rosa Parks and the civil rights movement.
