CLARK CLOSING IN ON HOWARD DEAN

That's what the polls show.  Maybe Democrats actually have some realization that there is a role for the military to plan in protecting us and our interests both here and abroad.  That's probably a small part of it ... but then there's Howard Dean.  How long does it take for the bloom to fade off a rose who:

  • Wants to raise taxes on every single living American who actually pays taxes.
  • Can't say that Osama bin Laden was responsible for 9/11 .. but can say that Bush may have known about it beforehand.
  • Tells us how happy he would be to to use our military to defend our interests ... but only if the United Nations give him "permission."
  • Has a campaign driven by a hoard of know-it-all, bulletproof young adults who know the ins and outs of the Internet, but who couldn't write a cogent paragraph on economic policy if their tongue piercings depended on it.
  • Wants Osama bin Laden tried in an international court for attacking Americans on their own soil.
  • Shares his amazement with the rest of us that people in the South actually practice their religion openly.

What's not to love?  I wonder what this landscape is going to look like one month from now?

BUT WAIT?  ISN'T DEAN NOW PUSHING A MIDDLE INCOME TAX CUT?

Well .. that's what the media has been reporting.  We're now told that Howard Dean just wants to raise taxes on upper income Americans ... but he wants the treasured "middle class" to get a cut.  He calls it a program of "tax fairness." There's the "fair" word again.  Democrats just love to talk about what's fair and what's not fair.  It's fair, for instance, for the top 1% of income earners in this country, who earn about 17% of the total income, to pay about 38% of all taxes.  Yup, that's fair.  What's not fair is when these evil rich people get to keep a higher dollar amount of their earnings under a tax cut than do people in the lower income brackets.

The Dean campaign says that they have made a "strategic" decision not to release the details of Dean's middle class tax cut just yet.  They're going to wait until the general election.  So the strategy is this:  Dean will give the middle class a tax cut if he's president, but he's not going to tell you just how he is going to do that until after you have decided to give him the Democratic Party nomination.

Doesn't this sound vaguely familiar to some of you?  Didn't our last Democratic president campaign on the idea of a middle class tax cut?  Why yes!  I believe he did!  And as soon as he was inaugurated he completely forgot all of those campaign promises.  In fact, he denied he made the promise at all!  When his administration was challenged on this you do remember what Clinton's dog washer, George Stephanopoulos said, don't you?  Who can ever forget those words?  "The president has kept all of the promises he meant to keep."

Now ... looking into the Talkmaster's crystal ball, just what will Dean's middle class tax cut be?  Remember, folks, the words "tax cut" don't mean what they used to mean.  In old English cutting taxes meant that you would cut the income tax rates so as to allow a person to keep a bit more of the money that they earned.  In the new English cutting taxes may mean taking money from someone who actually pays taxes and giving it to someone who had no tax liability in the first place.  We call  these types of tax cuts "refundable tax credits."  This means that the government gives you a tax credit, for child care for instance, in the amount of X dollars.  If your tax liability happens to be X-.75X dollars the government will write you a check in the amount of .75X.

Now there's an explanation that was totally lost on about 90% of the people who attended government schools.

DO WE WANT TO GO THROUGH THE CLINTON THING AGAIN?

A quick word about the surging candidacy of Weasley Clark.  Remember, he was fired.  Not your ordinary retirement from years of service in our armed forces.  He was fired.  He lost his command in the Kosovo/Bosnia campaign because of what his superior defined as issues involving "integrity and character."  Perhaps some of you have heard the rumors.  We'll just say, do we need more of the Clinton-type scandals in the White House?

Now it's generally recognized that Bill and Hillary are behind the nomination of Weasley Clark.  To understand why you need to understand that Bill and Hillary want George Bush to win reelection.  They do not want a Democrat to win in 2004.  Hillary wants to run in 2008, and a Democrat in the White House puts the big kibosh on those plans.  So why push the Clark candidacy?  Think it through.  Who was the Commander in Chief when Clark was relieved of his command?  And who knows all of the reasons why Clark was fired?  And who would be in the position to make sure that those facts somehow made it into the press coverage of the election.  The Clintons are helping to make Clark's candidacy now ... and they know they can take action to destroy that candidacy when the time is right.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY?

Scott Peterson's attorney wants Peterson's murder trial moved out of Modesto, California.  But where does he want the trial to take place?  Los Angeles County, that's where.  And why would Peterson's attorney chose LA County?  Because he's charged with killing his wife, that's why.     Check out the 15th and 10th letters of the alphabet.  Another tough assignment there for our graduates of government schools.

OH NO......WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE

According to an international study released Wednesday, global warming over the next half-century could result in the extinction of more than one million species. "A quarter of all species of plants and land animals, or more than a million in all, could be driven to extinction," this according to Chris Thomas, professor of Conservation Biology at England's University of Leeds.

The difference with this story is that they're not really calling it "global warming" any more.  Now the magic buzz words are "climate change."  Why the change?  Because more and more people are coming to understand that there is not one single piece of empirical evidence out there that anything that mankind is doing on the face of this globe is leading to any warming of the Earth's atmosphere.  We may well be going through a period where the Earth is warming up a degree or two; but we're going through this period at the very same time that the Sun has shown increased activity.  To put it into terms a Democrat could understand ... Sun gets hotter, Earth gets hotter.  It's been happening since the dinosaurs.

Is anyone else getting tired of these ridiculous, often taxpayer-funded "studies?"  Here we go with more front-page screaming headlines screaming ultimate catastrophe.  When is someone going to do a documentary showing how most of these environmental interest groups have become polluted with a mangy collection of socialists, and other anti-capitalists who have decided that phony environmentalism is as good a way as any to destroy free enterprise and the industrialized West.  Brilliant strategy, actually.  If you oppose their anti-capitalistic agenda it means you want dirty air, dirty water, and the extinction of millions of species.

I'd like to know when we can predict the extinction of bored, anti-capitalist liberals in the science community that are always inventing junk science to prop up their half-baked theories.

THE CABLE COMPANY MADE ME DO IT

I'm not making this up, folks. As well as I know trial lawyers, and as focused as I've been on lawsuit abuse, this one is too strange to be fiction.  A West Bend, Wisconsin man is threatening to sue his cable company  because he says they caused his wife to be overweight, and his kids to be "lazy channel surfers."  Timothy Dumouchel wants $5,000 and a lifetime supply of free Internet service from Charter Communications. He also blames them for his TV addiction.  "I believe that the reason I smoke and drink every day and my wife is overweight is because we watched TV every day for the last four years," he stated in the written complaint.

This represents a new low in the ongoing lawsuit lottery in this country.  A lard ass loser sits in front of his TV for 4 years and then sues the cable company  because they made him do it? Yet another reason for legal reform. Loser pays, folks ... loser pays.   Morons like this should have to pay the legal expenses of the companies they sue if they don't win in court.

What should happen is instead of the cable company paying this guy another dime, he should be paying them. Turns out the whole four years in question, he was watching cable without paying for it. It was supposed to be turned off. Maybe he and his significant other tub of lard could lose some of that excess weight while they are in jail for stealing cable. We'll see.

MORE GOOD NEWS FOR WEASLEY -- MADONNA IS ON BOARD!

In a CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll released Wednesday, Howard Dean is at 24 percent and Weasley Clark is at 20 percent. Dean had a 21-point lead in the same poll less than a month ago. Looks like Weasley is closing in fast.  Should make for an interesting Democratic primary season.

In a message posted on her website, Madonna has endorsed General Weasley Clark for President. She says that "our greatest risk is not terrorism and it's not Iraq or the 'Axis of Evil.'" You're right Madonna, it's not. Our greatest risk is having to watch an aging, fading pop star resort to lesbian antics on MTV just to get noticed. She went on to say "The simple truth is that the current administration has squandered incredible opportunities to bring the world together..."  More mindless dribble followed .. but you get the point.  It's the same old line we've heard from the Hollywood Left for years. If we had only been nice to Osama Bin Laden, he wouldn't have attacked the World Trade Center. If only we had given Saddam Hussein 13 years to comply with the UN resolutions instead of 12.

Sorry honey, go sell crazy someplace else. We're all stocked up here. But before you do maybe you can arrange for General Clark to box tonsils with Britney.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Here's another one of those eco-scare stories about how millions of species are threatened by global warming.  Note the difference in this story though.  The eco-radicals have failed to carry the burden of proof that there is, in fact, any "global warming" out there, so now it's called "climate change."  Well guess what.  Climates change.  Always have, always will.

Lawsuit abuse ... this prepuce wants to sue the cable company because it made his wife into a lard ass couch potato.

How many people turn down the opportunity to be on the cover of Time magazine? Turns out Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld did just that, suggesting instead the American soldier be the Person of the Year. What a guy. Something tells me no one in the Clinton administration would have done the same.

Earlier this week I game you a story in the reading assignments that linked to a parody site called the Landover Baptist Church.  I got plenty of emails on this one.  Some hated me, others thought the site was a rip!  Now ... take a look at this webpage from Objective: Christian Ministries.  Scary.

Here's an interesting angle.  Gary Aldrich says that the media will treat presidential children differently, depending on the political party of the president.

You've heard all of the negativism about what is happening abroad .. now for a dose of reality.

George Will says just say no to Pete Rose.

Tired of your tax dollars going to support left-leaning public radio and TV broadcasting? Here's a great case for taking away their government funding.

Boy...now we can sleep at night. The US has asked France to track down a suspected terrorist that forced a bunch of US-bound flights to be cancelled recently. I'm not holding my breath on this one.

What is it about stupid people and winning the lottery? The winner of the largest lottery jackpot in US history has been accused of threatening to kill the owner of a bar. I guess you can take the lottery winner out of the trailer park, but you can't....well, you get the idea.

Well, isn't this nice. Guess what? The new plan for fingerprinting foreigners at airports will be stopped if the lines get too long. We are no more safe at our airports than we were before 9/11.

As if Islamic Terrorists weren't worry enough, here's an example of one of our own homegrown nut jobs.

Dick Morris seems to think Howard Dean is still likely to get the nomination.
