TAX EXEMPT SAVINGS ACCOUNTS? In his State of the Union message next week Bush is expected to announce plans for some sort of a tax-free savings account for American taxpayers. One will be a lifetime savings account that will allow people to invest up to $7,500 a year. Investment and interest income would be tax free, and you can withdraw any time you like without paying tax penalties. The second is a glorified Roth IRA. Invest up to $7,500 of before-tax money. No income caps to participate. Now ... let me tell you what's going to happen as soon as Bush makes these proposals. The Democrats are going to start whining about "working Americans" who won't have enough money to participate in these new accounts. The Democrats will say that these new savings accounts can only benefit rich people who can afford to sock away $15,000 a year, and these people already have it made, so it's just basically not fair. To correct this hideous inequity the Democrats will propose some scheme whereby the government helps "poor and middle income people" who can't possibly put money into these savings accounts. And just how would the government help? Easy! Just take money away from higher income earners and give it to the poor, poor, pitiful poor to put into their savings plans? In short, look for the Democrats to take this proposal and turn it into another grand income redistribution scheme. AL GORE AND GLOBAL WARMING
This really could have been Al Gore's chance to hit a home run. With a large
part of the country freezing their cans off, Gore showed up in New York
where it was in the single digits to give a speech on global warming. Imagine
how big of an impression Al could've made if he could've warmed the globe
up even just a little bit. Maybe he should've given his speech to one of
the urban outdoorsmen sitting on the heat grates outside.
Of course, the details of the speech he gave are the same old anti-capitalist,
socialist drivel we've heard from Gore since his "Earth in the
Balance" days. And if he's so sure that global warming is destroying the
earth, then why didn't the Clinton-Gore administration submit the Kyoto treaty
to the Senate for ratification? Gore regularly slams Bush for not ratifying
that treaty, while having done nothing himself to pass it when he could.
Speaking of Gore's "Earth in the Balance." If you have the time we have a little test for you. It's the "Al Gore or the Unabomber" test! At this website you are presented with 12 excerpts. These excerpts came from one of two sources, Al Gore's "Earth in the Balance" or from the Unabomber Manifesto. Take the test and see how you do.
One other note..Al Gore's speech was co-sponsored by Moveon.org,
the same website that posted the commercials comparing George Bush to Adolf
Hitler. Figures.
Perhaps you're tired of hearing this, but there just simply is no scientific evidence that the actions of man have cause any increase in the earth's temperature. The only scientists who back this global warming fraud are either employed by government or work in the leftist, anti-capitalistic atmosphere of colleges and universities. I saw some woman named Deb Callahan interviewed on television yesterday. She's the HWWIC of the League of Conservation Voters. Callahan knows that scientific evidence doesn't back up Gore's global warming scam. Her solution? She refers to the scientists who challenge the religion of global warming as "corporate funded scientists." So, there you go. Since these scientists don't work for either some college or university or the government, they are "corporate-funded" and are therefore evil. This is exactly the response you would expect from a movement that is more anti-capitalist than it is pro-environment. Private sector is bad. Government is good. Deb Callahan also made sure that the new buzz-words are not "global warming." Now the radicals are supposed to say "climate change." This is their tacit admission that the evidence isn't there to support their global warming scare campaign. After Al Gore's speech on the environment yesterday perhaps you would like to read some articles that refute his ravings. Here are a few links for you.
Someone needs to get the other side of the story out ... read these and you can confound some of your anti-capitalist eco-radical friends. What fun! FROM TODAY'S AJC VENT
RENT-A-MOB PROTESTS BUSH'S MLK TRIBUTE
Leave it to the usual suspects to turn a simple goodwill gesture into a huge
public protest. About 1,000 protestors turned out yesterday for President
Bush's visit to lay a wreath at the tomb of Martin Luther King, Jr. here in
Atlanta. Not content to simply let this one go, the Bush-haters were pressed
into action.
It's always interesting to read the idiotic rantings from the empty-headed
simpletons that show up at events like this. Of course, the liberal media
never calls the protestors out on their reasoning. One protestor rambled
"What the Bush administration stands for is the exact opposite of what
Dr. King does." Why didn't the reporter ask "Are you saying
that President Bush wants to return to racial segregation and separate schools
for white and black children? Are you saying that President Bush wants
blacks kept out of restaurants and other public facilities?" Come
on! Just once make one of these myrmidons back up their statements.
Another oldie but a goodie on a sign at the protest is this
traditional bed-wetting slogan: "War is not the answer." It isn't? I
don't imagine the United States would have ever achieved independence without
the American Revolution. How about World War II? Was war not the answer then?
Sometimes war damned sure is the answer.
The sad truth is if Martin Luther King Jr. were alive today and came upon
these protestors, he'd probably call security.
Oh ... and let's not let this pass without pointing out that this protest never would have happened with a Democratic president. BAD NEWS FOR THE DEMOCRATS: RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL DISCOVERED FROM IRAQ
A shipment of scrap steel believed to be from Iraq contains the
radioactive material yellowcake, according to a company in the Netherlands.
The International Atomic Energy Agency is investigating. Remember where
you last heard about this?
That's right...this is the exact same yellowcake that George Bush was talking
about Iraq trying to purchase in Africa during his State of the Union
address last year. Remember that whole brouhaha about Bush misleading
the American people? According to a researcher at the University of
Missouri-Columbia, the material found has no non-nuclear use. None. Zippo.
This must be a bit unsettling for the Democratic candidates. Make no
mistake, the cornerstone of their effort to win in November rests
solely on the whole "Bush lied" theory. Once the WMD is found,
and America is proven right, then what are they going to run on? What will
Weasley do? How will the Deanie Babies explain that Bush misled the
American people?
T-minus 8 1/2 months to election day, folks. Lefties should make note of the
exits at the front of the theater.
IT MAKES SENSE -- THAT'S WHY IT WASN'T DONE SOONER New rule at airports. If you set off the metal detector you get a chance to remove the offending metal object and then walk through the metal detector again. Let's say you leave your car keys in your pocket, or you're wearing shoes with metal shanks. Under the original TSA rules you would then be subject to a secondary search ... which takes time and TSA manpower. Now you'll be allowed to remove the keys from your pocket, or slip off your shoes, and walk through again. Much easier. Faster. Less manpower. More convenient for the passengers. You might ask why this wasn't done much earlier? Remember, we're dealing with government here. The real question is what happened to cause them to come to their senses now. READING ASSIGNMENTS I get this "Bush Lied" nonsense almost daily on the show. Hey .. I'm a patient guy, so I always ask the callers to cite just one lie told by Bush. They can't. They mip and mup* for a while and then just go away. The most frequently cited Bush lie is that he warned us of an "imminent threat" from Saddam. He didn't. OK ... you're turn to argue with these blivits. Jonah Goldberg examines the liberals' 'Bush Lied' theory and shoots it down. Can you believe this? Teens raise hell in the neighborhood. Homeowner yells at teens to leave. Homeowner pays fine for yelling at kids. Liberal talk show hosts? The Wall Street Journal says "bring 'em on!" The
Democrat's idea of a general: Ann Coulter tears Weasley a new one. She's
so good at this.
As the race gets tighter, Democrats
are getting nastier. Howard Dean is accusing Weasley Clark of being a
closet Republican. This is like watching lions tear apart zebras on the
Discovery channel.
Can we make Iraq Democratic? George
Will looks at the situation.
A US Airways flight in Pennsylvania landed
at the wrong airport. What? And you don't make mistakes at your job from
time to time? Hey ... lighten up. Nobody's perfect. You've
seen one runway, you've seen them all.
Some people need to be lined up and shot. This
couple qualifies, after keeping their 2 boys in cages for 13 years.
Streakers in a
restaurant watch as their car is stolen. They left it running in a Denny's
parking lot because there was nowhere to put the keys.
Ever want to kill your kids? Move to Ohio,
you'll only do 7 1/2 years.
*"Mip and mup." OK, here's a little inside radio for you folks. Mipping and mupping is slang for someone on the air not speaking any legible or understandable manner. The term comes from the sound a broadcast tape cart that has been improperly erased. Using a monotone voice just say "mip mup mip mup mip mup mip mup" quickly .... you'll see what I'm talking about. |
