NEAL CHECKS IN! Neal is apparently alive and well and enjoying his vacation. This morning he
sent us a couple of pictures
so you can see for yourself. I'm sure he'll share more when he can get a faster
connection.  NO BOUNCE FOR THE POODLE AND HIS PUPPY
The media was just sure John Kerry's choice of John Edwards would send his poll
numbers to the stratosphere. In the end, after all of the anticipation, the news
stories and the media hype, it didn't make one bit of difference. The Poodle's
numbers are right where they were before he added John Edwards to the ticket. If
anything, Bush's numbers have increased slightly. Back to the drawing board for
the Democrats.
Don't look for much of a bounce out of the convention, either. The reason? Well
there are many. First, who cares? Really...it's the middle of summer, the kids
are out of school, there isn't anything on TV, most people don't vote...who does
any of this really appeal to? A huge percentage of people aren't going to make
up their minds until right before the election. You have the diehards on both
sides, then you have the moron vote and the independents. Oh, and on top of all
of that, unless you live in a handful of battleground states, your vote isn't
going to matter much anyway. Sorry to have to break it to you like that.
The Democrats and the media want to try and convey the image that this election
is in the bag for Kerry. But with 113 days to go before the general election, if
they think that, they must be smoking something.
JOHN JOHN ON 60 MINUTES
Last night, sKerry and Edwards were on '60 Minutes.' Was this a hard-hitting
interview, grilling the presumptive Democratic nominee and his running mate on
the issues? Of course not. This is, after all, CBS and 60 Minutes we're talking
about. Let the media fawning begin.
Lesley Stahl interviewed the candidates and their wives with such probing
questions as "are you worried about being upstaged by your running
mate?" (Kerry said no, but he should be worried, since unlike himself,
Edwards actually has a pulse when he speaks publicly.)
Then came the usual idiocy...Edwards brushed aside any contradictions in Kerry's
record by saying that was only because the Bush administration had spent a lot
of money on TV ads. Then, he was asked about the flip-flopping charge. So how
did he answer that one? Yep, you guessed it...he brought up Vietnam. The Poodle
has trained his puppy well. He says we should ask the people Kerry served with
in Vietnam...problem is, those people have come out against Kerry.
Next, it was on to Iraq, and they repeated the same baloney he's used over and
over again: we were for the war in Iraq, but not the way George Bush did it. How
convenient. Edwards even said had they been in charge, they would have known
there were no weapons of mass destruction.
I guess you can add psychic on his resume next to ambulance-chasing
malpractice lawyer.
IRAQ AND VIETNAM: NOT EVEN CLOSE
From time to time you will come across a mention in a news article, or in a
speech by a liberal that will compare the war in Iraq to the war in Vietnam.
You'll also sometimes see Iraq referred to as "George Bush's Vietnam."
You might even have a liberal friend or family member who is similarly
misinformed. It's worth pausing for just a second, so we can review the facts.
The war in Iraq officially began on March 20, 2003. That's 16 months ago. Now
even if you accept the left's premise that the war in Iraq is still raging,
that's still only 16 months. The war in Vietnam is generally accepted to have
begun in 1961 when President Kennedy sent military advisers. The fall of Saigon
was 14 years later. Doesn't look like the wars are even close to lasting as
long.
Secondly, there were some 58,000 American casualties in Vietnam. There have been
under 900 U.S. military deaths in Iraq. Hardly a comparison there. And lastly,
one important thing....unlike Vietnam, we actually won the war in Iraq!
So the next time some moron compares Iraq to Vietnam, just maybe you can
challenge them with some facts. After all, the media won't.
RON REAGAN TO ADDRESS DNC
Making the rounds today is a story hot off the presses that Ron Reagan, Jr. is
going to address the Democratic National Convention this month. You see, Ron is
a big-time leftist, and a liberal Democrat. This should come as no surprise to
anyone, except of course, the media.
Apparently Ron is going to speak about stem cell research. You see, the Bush
administration is opposed to federal funding of stem cell research, which some
say could one day help Alzheimer's patients like Ron Reagan's father. But the
left and the media have done a good job making it sound like George Bush is
banning the research outright; he's not. He's banning federal funding of it. If
there really was so much hope in stem cell research, wouldn't pharmaceutical
companies be funding it themselves? Can you imagine how much a cure for
Alzheimer's would be worth? And besides, can someone show me where in the
Constitution it mentions funding stem cell research? You can't, because it
doesn't.

FLORIDA LEGISLATIVE OUTRAGE On today's Best of Boortz, Neal will be talking about two bills in Florida
that would have given local Florida governments the power to take property away
from an individual landowner and sell it to a private developer for a shopping
center, office development, or virtually any other private purpose. See Neal's

READING ASSIGNMENTS
The Federal Government is considering delaying
Election Day in the event of a terrorist attack. This isn't a bad
idea. However, it won't be long before the conspiratorial wing of the
Democratic party comes out and says George Bush is just proposing this so they
can launch a terrorist attack and delay the election in case they're down in the
polls. You just watch.
The guy that owns Kerryedwards.com isn't giving away the domain to the
Democrats. He
wants to get paid in full. This sure isn't the liberal spirit of sharing he
is practicing here.
In what could be the most
biased news article the Associated Press has ever written, they're reporting
that some key conservatives are uneasy about George Bush. What are they
going to do? Vote for Kerry? Get back in line, boys.
The Hollywood left went
off the deep end at a fund-raiser last week, in what could at best have been
called a Bush-bashing bazaar. Would a Republican challenger get away with
the same thing? Of course not.
So who was the first to make the connection between Osama Bin Laden and Saddam
Hussein? Why,
none other than Bill Clinton.
John Kerry, the most liberal member of the Senate, has chosen the Senator tied
with two others as the second most liberal. George
Will thinks this is reminiscent of 1984, when another liberal ticket lost 49
states.
Think Moammar Gadhafi has changed his ways? He
may have given up his weapons, but he's still a thug.
The Poodle says he is against the war in Iraq, but voted for it, and has said he
will not cut and run. So which is it? The Bush administration needs
to do a better job cashing in on the contradiction, says
William Kristol.
Islamic terrorists want to dominate the world with a perverted form of their
religion and it's time we look evil right in the eye, according
to Mortimer B. Zuckerman.
The Senate Intelligence Committee's report is only devastating to people who
thought WMD was the only justification for going to war with Iraq. John
Podhoretz explains that there were many others.
The media bias is off the charts with the announcement of the
"John-John" ticket. The
Media Research Center reports.
Michael
Barone looks at the record of the appeasers in the War on Terror, starting
with Bill Clinton. It's not a very successful record.
William F. Buckley has a point-by-point rebuttal of some of Ron Reagan, Jr.'s
statements, and
