ATTACKING MAX CLELAND'S PATRIOTISM

We are now oh so thrilled that Teresa Heinz Kerry has seen fit to share with us the reasons behind her switch from the Republican to the Democratic parties.  Ms. Kerry, the multi-millionaire supporter of numerous liberal causes, tells us that she made the switch because she became disgusted when Republicans attacked the patriotism of Max Cleland during the 2002 election.

I was right here in Georgia during that election doing talk.  I'm here to tell you that the patriotism of Max Cleland was never an issue in Georgia in that campaign. It didn't happen.

Max Cleland remains a beloved figure in Georgia politics.  I really can't adequately express how personally fond I am of this man.  The fact is Georgian's became alarmed when Max became Tom Daschle's hand puppet after the Republicans took the White House in 2000.  Nowhere was Max Cleland's fealty to Tom Daschle more apparent than in his participation in the Democratic attempts to stall the formation of a homeland security department until certain government employee union demands were met.  In short, Max Cleland put the Democratic allegiance to government employee unions ahead of the security concerns of our country.  The voters didn't like it, and they turned him out.

This was not the first legislative mistake Max Cleland made.  At one point he actually introduced legislation in the Senate that would allow law enforcement officers to seize private property without even the merest scintilla of evidence that any crime had been committed.  Max Cleland's legislation called for the confiscation of large amounts of cash being carried by American citizens.  Let's say you live in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  A man in Ohio wants to buy a classic car from you.  You drive the car to Ohio to consummate the sale.  The buyer tries to give you a check.  You decide to take him and his check to the bank to get cash before you turn over the car.  Smart move.  You pocket $15,000 in cash, and head back to Grand Rapids.  The cops become suspicious when you buy a one-way ticket at the local airport with no luggage.  You get searched.  They find the $15,000.  Under Cleland's law, that money gets taken.  Oh, I know.  The courts have approved these hideous asset forfeitures anyway.   Georgians, however, wanted a Senator who would fight the courts on this matter, not one who would try to legitimize asset forfeiture through legislation.

The brutal fact of the matter is that Max Cleland was a liberal Senator representing a conservative state.   When the voters found out that Max was more eager for the approval of the Democratic leadership than he was the approval of the people he represented, they turned him out.

The truth is that Teresa Heinz Kerry truly belongs in the Democratic Party.  As I said, she is and has been a big-time supporter of leftist causes for quite a while.  She was a Republican only because her former husband was.

DUMPING GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS

A word of congratulations to the Southern Baptist Convention.  The Baptists are meeting right now and are considering a resolution calling for Southern Baptists to withdraw their children from government schools ... schools they consider to be anti-Christian.

Are our government schools anti-Christian?  I think that the argument could indeed be made.  But for whatever the reasoning is valid or not, the result is commendable.  This nation would be better off if responsible parents would all make a vow to remove their children from government schools as soon as practicable.  Nothing good comes from turning your children over to the government to be educated.

HANDING TAX CUTS TO THE WEALTHY

The Poodle is really ratcheting-up the class warfare game this week. He's using the "fortunate / less-fortunate" gambit, and is referring to tax cuts as "give-aways."

If you've listened to me for any length of time at all you already know my reaction to this "fortunate / less-fortunate" nonsense.  Liberals love to refer to economic failures as the "less fortunate" and to those who succeed as "fortunate."  This is how they discount the role of the individual in achieving success or wallowing in failure.  When someone ignores their education, fails to develop a work ethic, and develops a history of poor decision making resulting in a life on the economic margins they are referred to as the "less fortunate."  In other words, they just weren't as lucky as their friends and neighbors.  There's no personal fault involved.  They can't be blamed for their lot in life.  They're just the victims of bad luck.

And the rich?  Their success has nothing whatsoever to do with attention to education, a willingness to work hard and careful decision-making.  No ... just as with the poor, the rich can take no personal credit for their success.  They were just lucky.  This is the way the left absolves all individuals of either blame or credit for their situation.  In fact, it's part of their effort to destroy the very concept of individuality.

Look at it this way.  If a person becomes wealthy through good fortune or luck then it can't be said that the personal actually earned his or her wealth.  And ... since they didn't earn it, there's really nothing all that wrong with taking with taking some of that wealth away and giving it to some other folks who, after all, just weren't lucky.  This is where The Poodle's "give-away" language comes from.  A tax cut is just a "give-away" to the rich.  That evil rich person didn't earn that money anyway.  It just fell into his hands through luck.  The worthy liberal politicians are just trying to even the odds by taking that money and giving it to people who just weren't as lucky, then along comes an evil conservative politician who takes that money and tries to give it to rich people ... rich people who, after all, have plenty already.

This approach presumes that all wealth is owned by the government and that it is the government, rather than the marketplace, which decides where that wealth is to be distributed.  So ... if you believe that all wealth is owned by government, then John Kerry is your man.  If you believe that wealth is created by and then owned by the individual, then Kerry and his Democratic Party are your mortal enemies.

AL-QAEDA TAKES AMERICAN HOSTAGE

Al-Qaeda posted a video online yesterday of Paul Johnson, a man who works for Lockheed-Martin in Saudi Arabia.  He was apparently taken hostage by these Islamic psychopaths on Saturday.  The video shows the man blindfolded.  Poor guy was just trying to earn a living.

So what are their demands?  They are threatening to kill him within 72 hours unless the Saudi government releases some terrorists from a couple prisons. A Saudi government spokesman says it is unlikely their demands will be met because the Kingdom has a policy of not negotiating with terrorists.  And so it goes.  Things don't look too good for Mr. Johnson.  Very sad.

Those of you out there that oppose the war on terror, that are supporting The Poodle because you think Islamic terrorism is a law enforcement problem, take a good look.  This is what we have to look forward to if Al-Qaeda is not destroyed.  Not negotiated with, not appeased, not minimized, but completely destroyed.

The war on terror is no less than a war for the survival of civilization as we know it, and this is a wake-up call.

TERRORISTS STRIKE AGAIN IN IRAQ

Ghazi al-Talabani, the security chief for Iraq's Northern Oil Company, was killed today when gunmen opened fire on his car as he left for work.  This was apparently the work of terrorists (or as the media calls them, 'insurgents.')  But none of this should come as a surprise.

The Islamic terrorists who do not want self-rule for the Iraqis are doing their best to derail the June 30th transfer of power.  This was expected.  The enemies of freedom don't like what is happening in Iraq.  They see their desire for a totalitarian theocracy slipping away as Iraq moves toward self-rule, and they can't stand it.  They want an Islamic dictatorship.

The handover is two weeks away...get ready for more of this.

WHAT ECONOMIC SQUEEZE?

The Poodle gave a speech yesterday at the AFL-CIO convention in Atlantic City yesterday promising to end the "middle-class squeeze" he blamed on the Bush administration's policies.  So what is sKerry's gripe?

With 1,000,000 new jobs created since March, and the economy roaring again, what could he possibly complain about?  As predicted, The Poodle says that the jobs being created pay less than the ones lost during the recession, while costs such as college tuition, health insurance and child care have gone up.  What an absolute load....but still your average liberal Democratic stump speech.

This is apparently going to be the theme of the Kerry campaign: all doom and gloom, all the time.  After all, he can't get elected without convincing the general public that the economy is bad and that there aren't any jobs.  Only somebody too stupid to understand the facts would be so gullible as to believe that.  It's the same thing year after year with Democrats: what's bad for America is good for them, and what's good for America is not.  They thrive on bad news, because it allows them to propose more government spending to 'fix' the non-existent problem.

Then there's this whole business of college tuition, health insurance and child care going up.  Who cares?  It is not the responsibility of the federal government to provide anyone with college tuition, health insurance or child care.  If anything, those things have increased in price because of government interference.  But The Poodle has to convince people there is a crisis where there is none in order to get votes.

The only chance The Poodle has of being elected is to take advantage of the 50% of people that are too stupid to live in a free society.  No wonder Democrats love government schools so much.  It turns out an ignorant populace that they can exploit at the ballot box.

AND THUS ... AN ECONOMIC NEWS BLACKOUT

A new Associated Press poll shows that 57% of Americans think that the United States has lost jobs in the last six months.  Wrong.  There have been over 1,200,000 jobs created, not lost, in the last six months.  Not only that, but information from employers indicates that new jobs will be created in the coming months at the highest rate in the past decade.

So .. why don't Americans know how well our economy is doing?  Simple, because the mainstream media isn't telling them.  All of us have seen headlines telling us of the jobs that have been lost.  How many of you can remember one single headline touting job growth?

By and large the editors, reporters, headline writers, publishers, producers and talking heads who bring us the news everyday want John Kerry to win this election.  They do not like George Bush.  They do not like George Bush because they are liberals.  Exceptions?  Sure there are, but they comprise less than 10% of the people who will be making the decisions on what you see, read or hear.  Again ... remember the template.  If a story hurts Bush, hammer it.  If it helps Bush, bury it.  The true story of our economy helps Bush ... that's why it isn't being told to the vast majority of Americans.

MORE MEDIA BIAS EXPOSED IN POLL

Remember last week's LA Times poll that came out of nowhere showing The Poodle had surged ahead of Bush by seven points?  Well guess what...according to Roll Call, not counting independents, the poll's results were calculated based on a sample of 38% Democrats and 25% Republicans.  Well, no wonder sKerry was ahead by 7 points!  To get that result, they had to ask 13% more Democrats!  In other words,  the media skewed the results on purpose.

All polls are suspect, but that should give you pause the next time you hear the media trumpeting some poll.  Remember the template...any story that presents President Bush in a negative light gets the most coverage, while any story presenting the president in a positive light gets buried.

Now the media is forging poll results to make the president look bad.  Hopefully you aren't surprised.

AND THE MEDIA PROTECTS MUSLIM EXTREMISTS AS WELL

I guess it's all part of the plan.  The better you can make Muslim extremists look, the worse you make George Bush's war against Islamic terrorism look.  In London the media is singing the praises of one Sheik Abdul Rahman al-Suday.  This Muslim extremist gave a speech in London last week.  The Associated Press quoted Sheik Abdul as saying that the history of Islam is a testament to how different communities can live together in peace and harmony.  Then along comes the BBC who calls this menace "The world's most celebrated Iman" and credited him for working for "community cohesion."  So, what's the problem here?  Neither the Associated Press nor the BBC happened to mention in their coverage of this particular Islamic cleric that in the past he has given speeches calling for the "annihilation of Jews."  He has also referred to Jews as "... the scum of the human race, the rats of the world,"  and "the offspring of apes and pigs."  Why didn't the AP and BBC report the truth about the Sheik?  Could it possibly be because they felt that this would cause people to be concerned about Islamic extremists like the Sheik?  After all, this might cause Americans to support the war on Islamic terrorism .. and we all know who that would help in the election.

UN SAYS WORLD TURNING TO DUST

More doom and gloom from the scandal club known as the United Nations.  The latest?  The world is turning to dust, with land the size of Rhode Island becoming desert wasteland every year with the problem threatening to send millions of people fleeing to greener countries.  The media is actually reporting this with a straight face, even though it is complete nonsense.

This is just like global warming...a completely made-up condition with no basis in scientific fact.  The UN is full of government bureaucrats who have to justify their existence, so they make this stuff up.  It's all part of the anti-capitalist, environmentalist agenda.

The UN is actually saying that by 2025, two-thirds of arable land (for those of you who attended government schools, that means "land fit for cultivation") will disappear, along with one-third of Asia's and one-fifth of South America's.  Some 135 million people are at risk of being displaced! We're all going to die! The world is coming to an end!

There is absolutely no proof whatsoever out there that any global warming we may be experiences is being caused by the actions of human beings.  Also .. we are not running out of space, the world is not turning into dust and these people need to go away.  But ... look for some United Nations initiative to come along in the near future that will blame capitalism in general and the United States in particular for the coming dust bowl, and to suggest that the only solution is to hamstring the American economy.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

How much money did Michael Jackson pay in 1993 to make a previous child-molestation charge go away?  How about $25,000,000?

The Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts is calling on The Poodle to resign from the Senate because he never shows up for work.  Not a bad idea.

Read this to see what self-destructive idiots Republicans can be around election time.

Iran reportedly is massing troops on the Iraqi border.  Great!  Nothing like getting the terrorists all in one place so we can kill as many as possible.  It'll be just like shooting fish in a barrel.

Just to give you an idea of the fascist society Islamic terrorists want to impose under their rule, here's a story of a woman who was fined and whipped for not wearing a head covering in 100-degree heat.

Some businesses charge different prices to different people for the same thing.  Should this "price discrimination" be outlawed?  Walter Williams takes a look at the issue.

The news today seems to be dominated by all the same people...Reagan, Bush, Clinton, O.J....Kathleen Parker says it's deja vu all over again.

Why did thousands of people from all walks of life wait in line for hours to pay their respects to President Reagan?  According to Rebecca Hagelin, it's the second Reagan revolution.

The media and Democrats love to talk on and on about torture, Abu Ghraib and the Geneva Convention.  But Jonah Goldberg says in the war on terror, the Geneva Convention does not apply.  Good read.

So how did the Al-Qaeda shopping mall bomber get into this country?  Why just like all the other terrorists...right through the front door.  Michelle Malkin looks at this travesty.

During the Reagan funeral last week, the media couldn't help themselves.  They had to "balance" the outpouring of love and nostalgia with some Reagan-bashing.  Brent Bozell tells it like it is.

Should workers who go to help rebuild Iraq be subject to Iraqi laws?  Thomas Sowell examines the issue by looking at symbolism vs. substance.

Bill Clinton's memoir is coming out, but Linda Chavez talks about something you are unlikely to read in that book:  Bill Clinton's ties to an organized crime figure and political contributor.

Ronald Reagan showed us the way to prosperity during his eight years in office.  Here's more from William Bennett.

The United States has a long history of not retaliating against Islamic terrorists, and they know that.  Victor Davis Hanson says our strange relationship with the terrorists continues.
