We'll start out with a word of praise for one of the most stunning golf courses I've ever played, and the people who work there. Some friends and I traveled to the Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, New York on Saturday to play the Black Course. (73.9/140), OK ... so I shot 100, but I'll take it. I didn't know you had to walk the course schlepping your bag. By the time I got to No 15 (No. 1 handicap, which I pared) I was completely worn out. What an incredible time .. and the staff is fantastic. Put this one on your list if you haven't yet played there. The secrets? Long and straight off the tee. This move isn't likely to please Democrats and liberals all that much either. Remember, to Democrats the number one goal this year is to take back the White House. Iraq is down the list. Failure in Iraq is still the desired goal for the "loyal" opposition. Failure would hurt Bush ... so failure is the Democrats friend. How will the media react? You'll get an initial rush somewhat positive news, then the media will lapse into the "help Kerry" mode and will start to churn out stories that this handover today is merely "ceremonial" and "changing little." Today, at 10:26am local Baghdad time (2:26am Eastern,) sovereignty was passed from the Coalition Provisional Authority to the new Iraqi interim government. Paul Bremer handed over a signed document conveying political authority to the new government, along with a letter from President Bush asking for formal diplomatic ties. Paul Bremer then boarded a helicopter and left Iraq, ending his 14 months as Iraqi administrator. The top U.S. official in Iraq is now the U.S. ambassador, John Negroponte. That's right, we'll be just like any other country with an embassy in Baghdad. Sure, our troops will be there under American command, but the whole thing will now be in service to the new Iraqi government. So let's take a look at the facts here (something the left never takes into consideration.) In less than a year and a half, the United States has invaded Iraq, imprisoned Saddam Hussein, killed his murderous sons and restored essential services. And the casualties? Under a thousand. But what about those talking head bureaucrat generals that predicted we would lose 10,000 men on the first day? They're nowhere to be found, and of course the media will never hold them to account. The fact of the matter is that things in Iraq are working out. Sure, there are problems, but these problems are very much the same as the problems faced in Germany following World War II. There are insurgents and radicals who want a different outcome, just as in Europe in 1945, and these people will continue to make trouble until they see the situation as hopeless. As the events of this morning show, we are ahead of schedule. The United States of America has once again toppled a dictator, and brought freedom to millions of people. All of this in spite of the anti-American media and Democrats. What about the blood-for-oil crowd? The people who called us Imperialists? If the United States were an imperialist power, we wouldn't have done what we just did. The Bush-haters are going to have to find a new angle, and they will. Also, expect the media to now do everything in their power to ensure the failure of the new Iraqi government, including airing as much terrorist propaganda as possible. Speaking of propaganda, here is a quote from the handover by Prime Minister Allawi, thanking the United States. "They helped us in liberating our country, we are very thankful," said Mr. Allawi. Funny...that quote seems to be missing from much of the media coverage. I wonder why? Because it helps Bush. Vote Sean
Hannity sexiest anchorman in Playgirl's poll. Because we want the
satisfaction of ribbing him endlessly when he wins.
Maybe you saw Moore's Roger & Me. Remember those pitiful GM workers who were being evicted from their homes? Turns out they were never even GM workers. Oh well. The lies and distortions in Moore's Fahrenhype 9/11 will be researched and exposed, and will be detailed here. None of this matters anyway...Spider-Man 2 gets released Wednesday, ensuring that Michael Moore's factually vacant "documentary" is hastily returned to the obscurity to which he is accustomed. Before we finish with Michael Moore ... this came from today's "Vent" in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Sadly, if Michael Moore said that Bush turned the World Trade Center into giant magnets that attract planes, a significant number of liberals would believe him.' So very true. READING ASSIGNMENTS So .. the Democrats want an honest election? Then why do they hire crooks to handle their "get out the vote" drives? OK .. as you know we don't discuss abortion on the program. We will, however, discuss the political implications of abortion policy. In that vein, here is a fascinating article detailing how Roe v. Wade has affected Democrats at the polls. Babs has a new version of "People." I sure wish she would would do more campaigning for The Poodle. The American people are finally, despite the best efforts of the media, coming to the realization that our economy is booming, and that the Bush tax cuts are the reason. Republicans had a fun time jerking The Poodle's chain when he went finally decided to show up at the Senate and do his job. Your Talkmaster says it was well-deserved, and long overdue.A New Beginning, by Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi. Expect this guy to now be the target of the media and the left, who want him to fail. Who was the first to link Al-Qaeda to Saddam Hussein? Why, it was none other than Bill Clinton. Oh look...gas prices continue to drop. Will we see the same media hysteria now, as we did when gas prices were rising? Of course not...that would help Bush, and we all know what the template is. Illinois Republican Senate candidate Jack Ryan was run out of the campaign by the controversy surrounding his divorce papers. Now the push is on to unseal The Souffle's papers. Will the media push as hard? I doubt it. The media continues to broadcast the lie that there was no link between Saddam and Al-Qaeda, with Al Gore now joining in. Michael Barone says it's all part of the big lie. The left has done a good job of distorting history and presenting conservatives in a negative light. Doug Giles exposes the revisionism. Robert Novak talks about the Bush administration's efforts to bring NATO back in line and remind them where their bread is buttered. If you believe the polls, Bush's re-election chances seem to be getting slimmer with every passing day. But you should not believe the polls, writes Larry Kudlow, and he says the good money is still on Bush. The first rule of war: know your enemy. And in the war on terror, says Oliver North, the enemy is the radical Islamic jihadist terror movement. Peter Jennings went to Gitmo to show the "other side of the story." Jay Bryant says he doesn't have much sympathy for the terrorists being held at Guantanamo Bay Cuba. Diana West talks about the double standard between the treatment of Bill Clinton and that of former Senate candidate Jack Ryan. Democrats have private lives, Republicans do not. This is dumb...Democrats are howling that the United States military shouldn't use Israeli ammunition to kill terrorists. Not only should we use their bullets, but we could stand to use some of their successful tactics as well. The 9/11 Commission completely blew their opportunity to actually do something worthwhile. Mark Steyn explains how. Tired of all the Fahrenheit 9/11 hype? The Fahrenheit Fact blog is taking it one lie at a time. And, Ralph Nader isn't too happy with Michael Moore either. Would you eat at a restaurant called Road Kill? A few more Boortzapalooza pictures have been tossed up here and here. | |||
