CLASS
WARFARE ... YET AGAIN
Did any of you ever hear George Bush The Elder (No. 41) attack Bill Clinton
during Clinton's presidency? I remember no such occurrence. The custom used to
be that predecessors pretty much kept their pie holes shut when it came to their
successors. That was then ... this is now. The era of Bush hatred and class
warfare.
Bill Clinton was in Las Vegas Sunday slamming George Bush for robbing the poor
to give to the rich. Clinton says that the Bush administration is, as he puts
it, funneling the nation's wealth to the upper class.
This rhetoric from the left is decades old. But have you ever stopped to really
examine the underlying premises of this "robbing from the poor to give to
the rich" scenario? Let's give it a short go here. I'll expand on this for
my weekly Town Hall column on Friday.
To buy Clinton's "funneling the wealth" charge you have to adopt the
belief that all wealth is owned by and controlled by the government which can
distribute that wealth according to the designs of the political party in
control of the White House and the Congress. Those evil rich people with the
nice homes and the fancy cars actually got those things by stealing from you.
They didn't come by those things legally. They stole, they swindled and they
robbed. The money used to buy that million dollar home is actually your money.
Every payment on that Mercedes is actually money that should be in your pocket,
not the pocket of that crooked rich person. It is the government's job, not the
job of the free market, to decide who gets what. Hard work is an individual
pursuit and, as such, should not be rewarded.
Democrats believe that there is never enough money being spent by the government
on social programs. No matter how high the spending gets on any particular
spending program, any cut in spending would be defined as
"devastating." If spending were to increase by 30% over the course of
one year, a proposal to cut that spending back by merely 1% the subsequent year
would be described by Democrats as an "assault on the poor" and a
deliberate plan to "starve poor women and children."
FINDING
A NEGATIVE
Yesterday George Bush and Tony Blair did just exactly what he said they said
they would do. They turned the sovereignty of Iraq back to the Iraqi people. The
move was made two days early, probably to forestall any planned vast outbreaks
of violence in the two final days leading up to the turnover. Now if the
insurgents attack, they are attacking Iraq, not the coalition.
The Democrats, though, just had to find a negative to all of this; especially
The Poodle's campaign. Yesterday on Your World with Neil Cavuto the Kerry
campaign marched out some retired U.S. Army General who said that since the
turnover was secret, the Iraqi people won't know about it and they will still
think they are "occupied" by American forces. In other words, the very
action that was taken by the coalition to possibly prevent massive attacks on
Iraqi civilians by insurgents is damned by the Democrats because it was -- gasp!
-- SECRET! Never mind that the swearing in of the new government was televised
on Iraqi television within hours. Never mind that people on the streets were
actually celebrating the empowerment of the new government. The ceremony itself
was held in secret so, in the minds of the Democrats, Iraqis don't know it
happened.
Remember. These are the same Democrats who criticized President Bush's surprise
2003 Thanksgiving trip to Iraq because Bush picked up a turkey that had been
decorated as a table centerpiece. I think you call this desperation. Desperation
born of hatred.
As I've said a million times before, remember the template. The media in this
country is overwhelmingly liberal. They hate George Bush. They do not want him
to be re-elected. So instead of just objectively reporting the news and voting
for whomever they see fit in November, they are using their position of power to
control the election. To do this they will always look for the negative in any
story they report.
So anyway, Bush had a good day....the media couldn't allow this. While The
Poodle was pushing his "well, the Iraqis don't know they're a sovereign
country" routine, the press was attacking on a second front. Polls.
Yesterday we read of a poll showing Bush with his approval rating at its lowest
point ever. That poll was taken before the turnover of power in Iraq. A huge
news story like that would render the poll inoperative. Someone forgot to tell
the editors and producers.
The mainstream media in this country has become a propaganda machine for the
left. You do have to give them credit for one thing: they do follow orders quite
well.
POODLE
UPDATE
A listener helped me yesterday with additional justification for referring to
John Kerry as "The Poodle." Here's the new list:
1. He's French.
2. He has a poodle cut.
3. He's a rich woman's toy.
4. He won't protect you.
Standard poodle owners can give it a rest. Don't send me your email. There's
nothing standard about John Kerry. He's a toy.
ISLAMIC
PSYCHOPATHS MURDER AMERICAN
Here we go again. Al-Jazeera television is reporting that Islamic terrorists
have murdered U.S. Army Spc. Matt Maupin. The video is grainy, dark and murky,
and Pentagon officials said it was inconclusive, but it's probably what it says
it is. After all, by now we should know one thing: when a bunch of Islamic
Jihadists say they're going to kill somebody, that's usually what happens.
And just how was it carried out? On the tape, it shows him (or someone like him)
kneeling on the ground with his back to the camera before he is shot and
murdered in cold blood. And for what? Just like all Islamic terrorism, no reason
at all.
So why do these terrorists keep doing this? President Bush nailed it on the head
yesterday, speaking at the NATO summit. He said that the insurgents were taking
hostages because they couldn't beat our military. Then, he also said this:
"What they can do is get on your TV screens and stand in front of your TV
cameras and cut someone's head off in order to get us to cringe and retreat.
That's their strongest weapon." He's exactly right. We can't really expect
a free press to not tell us what's going on. So, the question comes down to
this. Are Americans tough enough to withstand the onslaught of images and news
about the brutality of these adherents to the so-called "religion of
peace?"
Until the new Iraqi government really cracks down on this, there appears to be
no end to the hostage-taking and the murdering. And they need to crack
down...not the wimpy, politically correct response that we started when we were
in charge. No, it's time for the Iraqis to hit back against these
"insurgents." And by the way, they're not "insurgents."
They're Islamic radicals. They practice Islam. They're terrorists. They just
shot and killed an American soldier in cold blood, right on TV. Think the war on
terror isn't justified? Remember ... these Islamic maniacs have pledged to kill
hundreds of thousands of Americans right here ... on our own soil.
Oh...that's right..."Bush lied." Whatever.
IS
NEAL THE GREEN PARTY CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT??
This was submitted by a listener. Really, we're not making this up. Check out
the David Cobb for President

CHIRAC
SHOULD SHUT UP
Once again proving that the French government is no friend of the United States,
French President Jacques Chirac is now publicly berating President Bush. I'm not
sure what the French word for hypocrisy is, but let's take a look at this
situation.
President Bush has called on the European Union to admit Turkey. Now, Turkey is
not a country that the Euro-weenies particularly like, because it is a Muslim
democracy. In other words, since it is not an Islamic terrorist dictatorship,
Europe doesn't really want them in the EU. President Bush thinks they should be
admitted, and said so.
Well, you would have thought Bush was calling for an invasion of France (then
again, they might like that,) because Chirac cut loose with his admonishment.
"If President Bush really said that in the way that I read, then not only
did he go too far, but he went into territory that isn't his. It is not his
purpose and his goal to give any advice to the EU, and in this area it was a bit
as if I were to tell Americans how they should handle their relationship with
Mexico." Oh really? How about Iraq, Mr. Chirac. You sure were sticking your
nose in there. Do the same standards you apply to Bush apply to your own French
self?
Maybe back in World War II when we saved their bacon, we should have instead
just said that intervening would have been a bit like telling France how it
should manage it's relationship with Germany. Ohhhh. I like that!
READING ASSIGNMENTS Michael Moore claims he is a registered Independent. As we all know,
Michael Moore is a liar. The
Smoking Gun brings you the evidence.
There is mounting evidence that Saddam
Hussein's weapons of mass destruction are in Syria. What will the left
do once they are discovered? Naturally, they'll accuse George Bush of
planting them there.
Pressed by none other than Dan Rather, the
new Iraqi Prime Minister says he is not a puppet of the United States.
The New York Times has
posted a second review of the Bill Clinton's book, apparently to counter the
first.
Despite Bush's best efforts, black voters are not rallying to his side. Star
Parker investigates why this is.
The New York Times, known for fabricating the news, is at it again. Joel
Mowbray details another case, this time involving smearing the Pentagon.
The media's clamoring for Senate candidate Jack Ryan's divorce records have
brought us to a new low. Dennis
Prager explains why, and says the media has enormous unchecked power.
Professor Mike Adams looks at the strange case of Dr. Sell, which is a story
the media is apparently not reporting very much at all.
The left likes to say that conservatives are dishonest and have no respect for
the facts. No
way, says David Limbaugh, who argues that they're the ones telling the lies.
The Poodle wants to raise the minimum wage....Bruce
Bartlett provides a reality check into this job-killing idea.
Now everyone seems to be comparing George Bush to Adolf Hitler...and it's no
longer just the loony left doing it. John
Leo tells us more.
Now that sovereignty has been handed over in Iraq, it's time for the hard
part. It's time to defeat the terrorists once and for all, says
Cal Thomas.
Despite The Souffle's best efforts, he has yet to convince people that this is
the worst economy since the Great Depression. Where's
the misery, asks Rich Lowry?
