DO YOU SEE WHO WE'RE DEALING WITH HERE?

For days now the world's media has been full of stories about the abuse of prisoners at the now-infamous Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.  Let's review.  We had pictures of Iraqi prisoners in a pile, pictures of an Iraqi prisoner wearing a leash held by an female American soldier.  There was a picture of another Iraqi prisoner being intimidated by dogs and one standing on a box with a hood over his head and some wires attached to his hands.  Strong stuff, right?  And ohhhhh ... the outrage!

Now ... what pictures did we see yesterday?  We saw pictures of brave Arabs redeeming their manhood by beheading an American civilian named Nick Berg.  These peace-loving Muslims first read a statement, then they pushed Berg to the floor and proceeded to saw off his head with a large knife while shouting "God is great."  You could hear Nick Berg screaming .. right up until the time the knife went through his windpipe.  When they were finished these brave Arabs, their manhood redeemed,  held up his head for the camera.

Suddenly the pictures of what happened in the Abu Ghraib prison don't seem to be quite so horrific, do they?  The victims of abuse at the hands of U.S. soldiers will be compensated by United States taxpayers.  Nick Berg will be buried ... in two pieces.

Compare the two cultures.  While America is investigating the abuse of Iraqi prisoners ... while America is preparing to punish those responsible ... while America is apologizing to the families of the prisoners and their countrymen for the actions of a few soldiers, and preparing to pay these families large sums of money .. while America is trying to do the right thing, Arab Muslims are slaughtering an innocent American civilian who's only crime was he was looking for a job trying to improve the Iraqi communications infrastructure.

This was a terrorist attack.  It was an attack by Islamic terrorists, only this time it took five men to kill one American.  One American civilian, or 3000 ... it's terrorism all the same.

Will this finally convince you that we are in the midst of a war?  It's a World War.  A war being fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, on Manhattan Island and the Virginia suburbs of Washington DC. It's a war being fought in former Soviet republics; a war is being fought on the island of Bali and in the Philippines. This is World War IV -- a war against fundamentalist Islamic Jihadists and terrorists.  These are the people we are fighting.  They are vicious relentless Muslim animals  who will not stop killing innocent Americans and who will not abandon their dream of a world dominated by Islam until they are utterly and completely destroyed.  These are people without a conscious who believe that the way to redeem their honor is to brutally slaughter innocent human beings, and this they do in the name of their god.

The question may be discomforting, but do these Islamic terrorist fanatics draw encouragement from the constant Democratic attacks on the president and the liberation of the people of Iraq from one of history's most brutal dictators?  How could they not?  How could these vicious Islamic bastards not draw comfort from Ted Kennedy's comparisons of Iraq with Vietnam?  These Islamic fanatics know they're at war.  They make no secret of their ambition and intention to destroy America.  Do you think they haven't studied our history?  How could they not know that America abandoned Vietnam to communist aggression when the going got particularly rough and when the tide of opinion in America turned against the war.  Do they not hear the comparison to Vietnam from a leading American politician as nothing less than a prelude to surrender or withdrawal ... a sign of American weakness?

This vicious murder of an American civilian should serve to reignite the American resolve to destroy, not to appease, but to destroy the Islamic Jihadists.  Now you should know that playing nice won't work.  While we try to bring to justice the people responsible for the abuse of Iraqi prisoners, the Islamic fanatics cut the head off of an innocent American civilian in order to "redeem" their manhood.  They're not men, they're bugs ... and they need to be squashed.

The retaliation for this vicious act must be firm, it must be swift, and it must have a violent finality.  These inhuman Muslims must learn that these actions against Americans will not go unanswered ... and the answer will have a terrible finality.

Oh ... and just where are the Euro-weenies on all of this?  Has anyone heard from the French? The Spanish?  The Germans?  I guess they're too busy adding up their losses since their buddy Saddam was tossed out on his Baathist butt.

OK ... SO LET'S CHECK ON THE MORAL OUTRAGE OF THE ARAB WORLD ....

... and of the Euro-weenies.  Oh how loud was their condemnation of the American military for the abuses in the Abu Ghraib prison.  For a while there the soldiers who perpetrated these abuses were the focus of all evil.  As of last evening there was scarcely a word about this terrorist attack ... and make no mistake, it was a terrorist attack ... on America.  The anti-American British tabloids had little to say.  As for the esteemed (not really) Council on American Islamic Relations?  Well, let's all sit back and just wait for the harsh words of condemnation from CAIR.  Frankly, they're probably too busy monitoring the American media, especially radio talk shows, to worry about the atrocities being committed by their fellow Muslims in Iraq and elsewhere.

That was last night ... but what about this morning?  What about today?  Arab television channels, who have no qualms at all about showing bloody images, have yet to show the decapitation of Nick Berg.  These television stations had no problem at all repeatedly showing any image they could get their hands on of American soldiers abusing Iraqi pictures ... but they just can't bring themselves to show the brutality of their own people.

WERE THE ANIMALS AL QAEDA?

The Islamic terrorist pigs who cut off Nick Berg's head claimed Al Qaeda status.  Linguistic experts said that they had definite Iraqi accents.  Well ... since we all know (don't we?) that there was absolutely no connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda we have to assume that these men came to Iraq after Saddam was overthrown and managed to develop an Iraqi accent.  Yeah, you believe that, don't you?

AND WHAT DO NUZE READERS HAVE TO SAY

Well .. to put it mildly, you're not thrilled, and you're not in a mood for appeasement.  Here are some excerpts.  I'm not saying I agree with all that is said .. but you can see that our rage against Islamic terrorism has been reignited.  These Islamic idiots have badly miscalculated.

  • We have spent the week avoiding moral equivalencies, and Al Q draws one for us - and celebrates.  I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I hope it re-ignites our anger.
  • I think we need to use much more force against the rebel forces who are killing Americans.  All the Iraqis who cheered when Nick was beheaded should be considered enemy combatants and killed as those propagating warlike behavior towards the U.S. No mercy should be shown to fanatics who have no intention of changing their ways.
  • I remember back in January when the Army announced that they were investigating prisoner abuse in Iraq.  This was not a new story.  As far as I'm concerned, publicly releasing the humiliating abuse pictures was an act of treason by CBS.  They gave aid to our enemies, and gave an excuse for them to continue committing barbarous murders against our citizens.  I loathe CBS for exposing these shameful pictures when they knew that our military was already working to rectify the situation and bring the perpetrators to justice.  I know this is too much to ask, but I hope that CBS feels some level of responsibility for the latest American to be cruelly decapitated by Islamic terrorists.  In my heart, CBS is directly responsible for this American death and the many others that will follow.
  • You were right Neal. These terrorist scum were able to kill some poor guy and justify it with those prisoner abuse photos.  Thanks CBS.
  • I wonder how the liberals and rest of the world will react to the taped beheading of an American citizen that was release today.  Will the liberals call for the resignation of Osama because of this or continue to blame everything and anything on Bush?  Now is the time for Bush to take quick and decisive action to gain control of these pockets of resistance.  We need to stop trying to be so PC in everything we do, we look weak in the eyes of our enemies.
  • What information do you have , or is it your opinion that the Arab world gives a Damn about how fair we fight a war? Somehow the impression i get is that the only thing that really causes fear and respect in the hearts of such a culture is complete dominance with absolute power.
  • The Iraqis are upset about prisoner embarrassment and humiliation so they kill an innocent person. The prisoners were not raped, they were not buried alive, their tongues were not cut out. Let's take Israel's example and take five deserving Iraqi war criminals out and behead or hang them, Now.
  • If the release of the videotape showing the murder of Nick Berg doesn't steel our resolve to rid the world of these sick monsters, then we truly are a society that is worthless. Yes, the abuse that occurred at the hands of the guards in the Abu Ghraib prison was terrible and probably will cost American lives (already has - poor Mr. Berg).  But just look at what the Islamo-terrorists will do.  Did they humiliate Mr. Berg or force him to wear women's underwear?  No, they simply cut off his head.  And we're the bad guys? This war will never end until we hunt down and kill every last one of these pigs.  We should turn the American military loose and let it do what it does best - win wars by wiping out the enemy.
  • There is one outstanding difference between the United States and the terrorists of the like that killed Nick Berg: we believe that people who do bad things need to be punished, and they believe people who do bad things should be honored, praised and rewarded. Cultural relativists are idiots

SOMEBODY HAD TO SAY IT: SENATOR INHOFE SPEAKS

It's about time. Speaking at a U.S. Senate hearing about the Abu Ghraib prison abuses, Senator James Inhofe, Republican of Oklahoma, said he is more outraged at the outrage over the prison photos than he is the actual treatment.  Finally someone is saying it.  These people in that prison were in that prison for a reason, and we shouldn't become so upset about their treatment ... so upset that we forget what put them there.

Inhofe took aim at the "humanitarian do-gooders" investigating the American troops and told it like it is.  "I'm probably not the only one up at this table that is more outraged by the outrage than we are by the treatment."  Inhofe said our sympathies should lie with the U.S. troops serving in Iraq, and not so much with the prisoners.  He went on to say he was outraged that all these humanitarian organizations are crawling all over looking for human rights violations, while our troops are fighting and dying.  Good point. Nice to hear somebody is finally saying it.  He also said that the prisoners were not there for traffic violations, that they murderers, terrorists, insurgents, some probably with American blood on their hands.

This is not to excuse for the abuses that occurred at Abu Ghraib prison.  We just need to keep it all in context, something which seems to be sorely lacking here lately.

BUT DEMOCRATS WILL FIND A WAY TO BLAME BUSH

We know that Nick Berg was in Iraq looking for a job in telecommunications.  He was hoping to find some work rebuilding the Iraqi infrastructure.  How long is it going to be before some Democrat says that Berg was in Iraq looking for a job because he couldn't find a job in America ... thanks to Bush policies that have allowed American companies to ship virtually all of their jobs overseas.  Just wait ... it's coming --- probably from Terry McAuliffe.

AND BACK TO THE ABU GHRAIB SITUATION

Just how does sKerry really feel about the abuse of these Iraqi prisoners?  Could someone from the campaign please let us know?  They say The Poodle is a flip-flop artist.  Democrats cry foul ... they say he is just nuanced.  OK ... here's some nuance for you from James Taranto by way of Right-Thinking.com

This is John Kerry on Saturday, May 8, discussing the Abu Ghraib situation on CNN:"

"[T]his is a moment for America to try to deal with this without any partisan politics. This is not about politics. This is about our country. This is about how we're going to be stronger."

And this is an email received by thousands from Lurch's campaign on Friday, May 7:

"Over the past week we have all been shocked by the pictures from the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. John Kerry has called on Donald Rumsfeld to resign, and today we're asking you to support him by adding your name to the call for Rumsfeld to resign."  "Keep the ball rolling. Donate now!"

So .. on Saturday it wasn't about politics.  On Friday it was all about politics .. and fund raising.  So, like the vote on funding for our troops troops in Iraq, The Poodle was in favor of making a campaign issue out of Abu Ghraib before he was against it.

CONGRESS TO SEE ALL THE PHOTOS

For a three-hour period today, the Pentagon is going to allow all 100 members of the United States Senate to see the abuse photos from Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.  This is a mistake.  Why, you ask?  Well, what this will do is permit the Senatorial Bush-haters to explain the photos publicly, rather than let the photos speak for themselves.  In other words ... this gives Democrats the chance to describe these pictures to the media .. possibly inaccurately .. instead of letting the pictures speak for themselves.

The Pentagon should just release the photos. Get it over with. The damage is already done, everyone knows what to expect and there will be no great surprise. All they are doing is giving more ammunition to the anti-war left.

The Democrats (including The Poodle) will be making the rounds in the media explaining the photos, and will once again be calling for Rumsfeld's resignation.  Let the American people see all the photos and make their own judgment.

UNEMPLOYED?  THE POODLE ISN'T YOUR FRIEND

The Senate voted today on a bill to extend unemployment benefits.  The bill failed.  It failed by one vote.  John Kerry was that one vote ... but he wasn't there to vote.  He was on the campaign trail.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

OK ... enough of the apologies.

Check out this picture of some Iraqi children holding a sign while posing with an American soldier.  Your Talkmaster is really having an impact on the world. Our thanks to our Baghdad affiliate for sending us this picture.

A British Muslim trained to be an al-Qaeda hijacker told the FBI everything in 2000, but they didn't believe him. Oh joy.

Spike Lee is at it again, this time calling Donald Rumsfeld a "gangster" and ridiculing the war on terror.  Spike Lee -- Michael Moore.  Separated at birth.

This weapons inspector says that although no weapons have actually been found ... .Saddam was certainly in a position to have those weapons on hand on very short notice.  That's good enough for me.

A billboard in Times Square for Swatch shows bunny rabbits in several compromising positions.  The Federal Censorship Commission will probably soon be on the case.  Hey ... it's bunnies!  Lighten up!

When you hear about the "atrocities" and "torture" supposedly being committed by U.S. troops at Abu Ghraib prison, what exactly does that  bring to mind?  Not what we're currently seeing, says Walter E. Williams.

Have Democrats, like Carl Levin, been encouraging Iraqi insurgents and terrorists with their political grandstanding?

This Washington Times story says that the morale of our troops is suffering in the wake of the Iraqi prison scandal.

It's been half a century since the Brown vs. Board of Education decision.  What has it accomplished, and what has it failed to accomplish?  Thomas Sowell explains.

Because of the Abu Ghraib pictures, the left is comparing President Bush to Saddam Hussein.  Kathleen Parker breaks down the hysteria.

Retiring Senator Zell Miller says the 17th amendment to the Constitution is really the problem with the U.S. Senate.  Bruce Bartlett brings us up to speed.

Despite all of the media reports blaming the military for the prison abuses, how about remembering just who it was that reported them in the first place?  That's right, it was members of the military that blew the whistle. You don't want to miss this column from Michelle Malkin.

The media constantly describes the Bush administration being in "damage control" mode.  But Brent Bozell says the media is really the one that is in "damage overdrive."

If America was beginning to forget who our true enemy is in the war on terror, the Nick Berg beheading has now reminded us.  Terence Jeffrey has the real deal.
