Thursday, May 13, 2004I CALLED THIS ONE AFTER THE FACT Yesterday on the program I said that it will only be a matter of time before some Democrat steps forward and blames the death of Nick Berg on George Bush. I suggested that this Democrat would say that Berg was job hunting in Iraq because of Bush's economic policies shipping all of our jobs overseas. Well, folks. I was a bit late. A Democrat had already beat me to the punch. It was none other than New York's Charlie Rangel. As early as Tuesday night Rangel was saying that if the "Bush economy" hadn't lost 3 million jobs people like Berg wouldn't have had to go over to Iraq looking for work. Imagine the self-satisfied smirks on the faces of the Islamic killers who sawed Nick Berg's head off. "Yeah, we killed the infidel, and then we sent them a tape! But now American politicians are blaming his death on the evil Bush!" Berg's murderers can't vote in November, but if they could, just who do you think they would cast their ballot for? Would they vote for the candidate who wants to go crawling on all fours to beg forgiveness from the United Nations, France and Germany? Or would they vote for the man who has pledged to destroy them, and has shown a determination to do so. If you think that these Islamic terrorists want Bush to win ... then you're unsalvageable. Why wouldn't they draw comfort and encouragement from the likes of Rangel, Kennedy, McDermott, Daschle and the the list of Democrats for whom a victory in the November election is more important than a victory in the war against terror. LOOKING AT THE TOP STORIES This morning in most of the newspapers I scanned during my preparation for the show the top story was still the Iraqi prison abuse scandal. Nick Berg had already disappeared from many front pages, but the prison abuse stories remain. May I suggest to you that there is a reason for this? Maybe it's just this simple: The prison abuse scandal can damage Bush, the Nick Berg story can only help him. Given the choice many editors will chose the stories that serve their cause, getting Bush out of the White House, rather than one that hurts it. Yesterday, when the Nick Burg was clearly the hottest topic on talk radio in Atlanta, the leftist Atlanta Journal-Constitution had a different top story. Philips Arena, where the Atlanta Thrashers play Hockey and where Shania Twain makes grown men (like me) sweat, hasn't had a recent fire inspection. Nick Berg is being shipped home in parts, but top billing goes to a fire inspection for Philips Arena. Nice going. The media also continues to pound the "Rumsfeld should resign" story. The New York Times today reports that "Rumsfeld is said to weigh every day whether he can continue to effectively run the world's largest military." Wow! We're at war, the Secretary of Defense is under relentless attack from the so-called "loyal opposition" and the nation's media, and he continuously weighs whether or not he can effectively serve under this onslaught? Only a self-involved fool wouldn't weigh that question daily under these circumstances. JESSE JACKSON -- DESPERATELY SEEKING THE SPOTLIGHT It seems just a few days ago when Jesse Jackson made another desperate grab for headlines and face time on television .. he was suggesting that he might go to Iraq to negotiate for the release of some American hostages over there. Nobody bit, so Jesse slithered back into his well-earned obscurity to plan his next attempt for the limelight. Well, yesterday he made his move. The Sloganmaster is now saying that calls for Donald Rumsfeld to resign aren't enough. Rumsfeld, says Jackson, ought to be tried for war crimes. Again ... the same theme. Saying outrageous things that can only make the enemy smile. Just how many American causalities can we chalk up to the Democrats constant stream of statements, charges and accusations against Bush's conduct of the war, and the very fact that the war is taking place. Imagine how much better things might be going in Iraq if the terrorists knew that while Democrats might have some domestic policy differences with the president, but that they were solidly behind him in his determination to destroy Islamic terrorism? WHY KERRY IS CONCENTRATING ON HEALTH CARE The last thing that The Poodle wanted to do yesterday during his visit to Jacksonville and Orlando was to talk about the murder of Nick Berg. In Jacksonville the Poodle's handlers and groomers instructed the news media present at a rally that they would be permitted one question each ... and that question must deal with The Poodle's health care proposal. Nothing else. Why was sKerry concentrating on his trillion-dollar health care proposals? Well, he's trying to create an image connected with something other than Vietnam. What better place than health care? Kerry knows that socialized medicine in America is inevitable. It's inevitable because Americans have come to believe that they are in no way responsible for their own health care. Their employer is responsible, not them. Or it's the government's job. Ask the average voter about Freedom: "Freedom? To hell with freedom! Leave me free to do the things that don't really have any long-term consequences in my life. As for the meaningful things ... like health care ... well, that's the government's job." Kerry knows this. There are votes to be found among those who are afraid of liberty. THE HILDABEAST SAYS SHE'S NOT RUNNING New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton said yesterday that she has no interest
in being Senator John Kerry's running mate this year. She also says she
intends to seek re-election to the Senate in 2006. When asked if she would
be running for president herself some day, she lied and said "All I'm
thinking about is electing John Kerry." Actually, all she's thinking
about is defeating The Poodle. This is all part of The Plan. So what is
The Plan, you ask? Keep reading. Remember ... Hillary is a liar.
Believe what she says at your own risk. Mas ingles, mas dinero. That simple. CANNES FILM FESTIVAL Yeah .. it's celebrity worship time in France. I don't know what's worse, jock-sniffers or people who swoon at the sight of a movie star. Ohhhh, the celebrities! The limos! The red carpets! Look! There's Woody Allen with his step-daughter! Wow! They sure look friendly, don't they! OK .. here's my prediction. Whatever film wins the festival, it will have a leftist, anti-American slant. We'll check back when it's over to see if I'm on target here. AND MORE BAD NEWS FOR AIR AMERICA That dark cloud continues to hang above the much-anticipated liberal talk radio network, Air America. General Motors has pulled all of its advertising. It seems that GM doesn't like the "insensitive" comments about Jews and the Catholic Church. I guess that GM didn't see the knee-slapping humor in the comparison of the concept of troops "pulling out" of Iraq and the Catholic Church's view of premarital sex. Executives leaving ... advertisers bailing .. employees not getting paid. It looks like the only way for Air America to succeed would be to hire conservatives who know something about business to run the place. READING ASSIGNMENTS The New York Times is reporting that Rumsfeld may still resign. Think the media doesn't have an agenda in the prison abuse case? Think again. When Peggy Noonan writes a column all I should have to do is say ... here's
a column from Peggy Noonan. If you were listening to the show yesterday you may have heard UNC professor
Mike Adams talking about Ben Shapiro and his new book
"Brainwashed." Here's
an Adams column about that very same book. Teacher accused of breaking student's arm for complaining that the teacher smelled like cigarettes. Reality show producers told audience members that the talentless contestants were actually terminally ill patients. | |
