Friday, May 21, 2004HOW DO WE SURVIVE THIS LEVEL OF STUPIDITY? The most recent Fox News / Opinion Dynamics poll asks Americans "How does the economy feel to your family?" Only 31% say it is getting better. An amazing 49% say it is getting worse. Every single economic indicator we have out there says that the economy is getting stronger ... and getting stronger fast. Jobs are being created at a record rate, tax revenues are up, the deficit predictions are going down, manufacturing is up. Everything is up! Yet one-half of Americans say it is getting worse? Where does this ignorance come from? More importantly, how can a free society that depends so much on the basic intelligence and ability to survive of its citizens continue to survive? People this stupid need to live under dictators, hopefully benevolent. They aren't smart enough to manage their own way through the complexities of liberty. The more of them there are out there, the more threatened our freedoms become. FORTY FUNERALS AND A WEDDING Did I say "much of the media?" How about the entire media ... especially when it comes to the Euro-weenie press. Just take a look at some of the headlines that appeared yesterday:
The military is investigating, but Marine Maj. Gen. James N. Mattis said it
best at a press conference in Fallujah. "Ten miles from the Syrian border
and 80 miles from the nearest city and a wedding party? Don't be
naive. Plus, they had 30 males of military age with them. How many
people go to the middle of the desert to have a wedding party?" The
General forgot to add "At 3:00 in the morning, no less." FBI WARNS OF SUICIDE BOMBERS
So what is missing? How about an actual real description of a potential terrorist? Consider these indisputable facts:
I could go on, but you get the idea. So why is the FBI ignoring the
obvious? Oh yeah ... we have to be politically correct, don't we?
While Americans are being targeted on their own homeland, we have to be oh so
careful not to profile! The lives of innocent American women
and children are being put at risk under the guise of political
correctness. All you have to do is look at the FBI's most-wanted list, a
20 year history of terrorist attacks and airplane hijackings to come to the
following conclusion: the individual or group that is most likely to
commit a terrorist attack against the United States is an Islamic fundamentalist
Arab male. Are all Arabs or Muslims terrorists? Of course not, but who
should we be scrutinizing here? Some old lady from New Jersey, or a Saudi
national at the airport? HERE COMES THE NEXT BATCH OF PHOTOS I don't get a printed version of the Washington Post every day, so I cannot say for sure what can and what cannot be found in the pages of that newspaper. I'm betting, though, that in the past two weeks you haven't found one single story in the Post highlighting things that are going right in Iraq. Not one story about locals befriending American troops. Not one story about the growing Iraqi economy, commerce in Baghdad's shopping districts, new home construction, new schools, new electric service, satellite television receivers sprouting like mushrooms ... not one story. Ahhhh ... but then there's the story about prison abuse at the Abu Ghraib prison. Today the Post releases yet another batch of photos from the prison. It's as if the Post's editors are demanding that the presses not roll until new pictures are prepared for the front page. OK ... we get it! Some American soldiers abused --- not tortured, abused --- Iraqi prisoners in Abu Ghraib. Those American soldiers are being punished. One has already been sentenced to a year in jail and is receiving a bad conduct discharge. Other trials are pending. The system is working. What is the purpose of continuously hammering this story day after day after day? Oh ... we all know what the purpose is. This is a story that hurts George Bush. This is a story that diminishes public support for the Iraqi front of the war on terror. This is a story that comforts those who despise America ... and George Bush. As I've said before ... remember the media template. If the story would help Bush, like the beheading of Nick Berg, downplay it. If the story could hurt Bush, like the prison abuse situation, ram it down the reader's throat every single day until it completely runs out of steam. The goal here is to defeat Bush, not to give a fair and objective look at what is going on in our war on terror. Question: How do you think America would have fared in World War II if the media had obsessed over stories of wrongdoing by American troops? Wouldn't the Nazis have loved to have seen coverage in American newspapers detailing civilian deaths in the bombing raids on German industrial and military targets? Couldn't you see the German high command grinning broadly as they read of demonstrations in the United States demanding an end to the bombings? How many more American deaths would it have taken to finish the job if today's media had been covering yesterday's war? This isn't World War II. This is World War IV. It's the war against Islamic terrorism. It has nothing to do with our support of the state of Israel. It is a war against a radical and bloodthirsty element of Islam that grows stronger with every depiction of America as the bad guys. These Islamo-fascist murderers don't merely want the infidels out of the Middle East, they want and are by Allah determined to achieve a world dominated by radical Islam. They want you living under their Islamic law, whether you wish to convert to their religion or not. They have attacked us on our own soil, and they plan to do so again. Earlier this week we heard warnings that Al Qaeda was anxious to use either a chemical or biological weapon against Americans at home. Today we read of warnings from the FBI to local law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for possible Islamic suicide bombers on American soil. We have a class of people in this country, call them liberals, progressives, Democrats, socialists, elitists, intellectuals ... call them what you like -- but we have a class of people in this country who harbor such an intense hatred for George Bush, economic liberty, capitalism, the American culture and American political strength that they will sacrifice the safety and liberty of future generations of Americans just to see America disgraced in the Middle East and George Bush pushed out of the White House in November. It's tragic enough that we have to be fighting yet another World War at this time in our history. It's even more tragic that we seem to have so many Americans who are actively pulling for the other side. LIBERALS COMING UNGLUED OH BOY .. YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS ONE More of the immense idiocy that permeates our government schools. This one comes from Ft. Worth, Texas. We take you to the Diamond Hill - Jarvis High School. A student at Diamond Hill has been suspended for "transporting weapons to school in his vehicle." And just what was the weapon this student had in his car ... the weapon that was clearly visible through the windows of the car? Why, it was a baseball bat. It wasn't the kind of baseball bat you would take to the plate at some Little League baseball game. It wasn't the type of bat you would use, with great pleasure I would hope, to beat the ever-loving dog squeeze out of a burglar you find in your home in the middle of the night. No ... this "weapon" was a baseball bat that had broken off an award trophy. It was 8" long. The student who brought this dangerous weapon to school has been suspended. School officials are now considering whether or not to expel him from the school permanently. These are the very same government schools to which we are sending our children to learn critical thinking skills. Did I say "thinking?" Would any of you businessmen or women out there like to have in your employ someone so dense that they would consider an 8" baseball bat as a dangerous weapon worth of a student's suspension? These things are handed out at baseball stadiums as "bat night" prizes, and these idiots at Diamond Hill consider them to be weapons? Consider the parking lot monitor who spied this dangerous weapon through the window of the student's car. What kind of an incompetent void-surrounded-by-a sphincter-muscle must this person be? Here is someone who is truly unqualified to work for anyone other than government. Be sure to send your congratulations to the wonderful administrators of the Ft. Worth Independent School District today. They need to know how much you appreciate the great job they're doing teaching our children how to cope and thrive in the real world. THAT UNITED AIRLINES COMMERCIAL You've seen it. It's an animated United Airlines commercial showing a man leaving on a business trip. As he's putting on his tie he's glancing at a picture of his mother. On the way out of his home he cuts a rose from his garden. The commercial chronicles the saga of that rose ... resting in a glass of water on his United flight ... impressing gate agents and business associates from his briefcase ... right up until the time he arrives at his mother's house at the end of the day to present her with the rose. Well ... as cute as the commercial is, it leaves something out. Security. Our intrepid businessman traveler has to get that rose through the gauntlet of the Transportation Security Agency. First of all we have the thorns. Those thorns could surely be used as weapons. If you can't get nail clippers on an airplane, how do you get a rose full of thorns? Then you have the x-ray machine. Just how good is that rose going to look after it's been for the wonderful TSA conveyor ride through that x-ray machine? Then you have the sniffers. Roses have odors, so the sniffers must come into play, and then there's the inevitable manhandling by a TSA agent. Good luck to the rose. SO MUCH FOR TACO BELL I vote with my dollars. I don't shop at Wal-Mart because I don't appreciate Wal-Mart's disdain for the private property rights of American citizens. Now I'm adding Taco Bell to the list. No ... I'm not asking you to do the same. I'm just telling you what I'm going to do. Taco Bell, you see, is asking customers for cute little sayings, "words of wisdom" they call it, to be printed on their little packets of hot sauce. Taco bell put out a little press release announcing the search for these "words of wisdom" and stating that the sayings should be simple and "left of center." Now why would Taco Bell be pandering to the left like this? Could it possibly be because Taco Bell is the target of boycotts and demonstrations on college campuses across the nation? These know-it-all college students have some sort of a beef with the way Taco Bell treats tomato pickers. Well ... what better way to pander to the college know-it-all left wingers than to print little left-wing sayings on your hot sauce packets? And what better way to chase me away. .... and your little dog too.
READING ASSIGNMENTS Once again, President Bush has caved into the Democrats...this time over the
issue of federal judges. Your
Talkmaster has the details. Sorry about the editing, folks. I
should have done it myself. | ||
