BREAKFAST WITH ME AT THE LIBERTARIAN CONVENTION

I'll be hosting breakfast Saturday, May 29 at the Marriott Marquis downtown for the Libertarian Convention in Atlanta. You can buy tickets online at that site or register by phone by calling Dianne Pilcher at (202) 333-0008, X-231. Tickets are $29. The breakfast starts at 7:30AM and I speak at 8AM.

CONNECTING DOTS

It is, as the Wall Street Journal puts it, an "article of faith" among leftist appeasers that there was no connection between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda.  No matter what evidence is uncovered .. the left will continue to sing the "no connection" song through eternity.  You say that Abu Musab al-Zarkawi, the al Qaeda operative man who beheaded Nick Berg, was protected by Saddam's government after 9/11?  You say he got medical care from Saddam Hussein?  So what!  There's still no proof of any connection between Saddam and al Qaeda.  And on and on it goes.

As the Journal says ... it is now politically incorrect to even suggest a Hussein - al Qaeda connection.  There never was, and there can never be any proof that there was ... and that's the way things just are!

Well .. here's another reason why the left hates the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal.  In today's edition (see the reading assignments) we get the story of one Ahmed Hikmat Shakir.  U.S. forces now have proof that Shakir was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Saddam Fedayeen.   It seems that Shakir was also present at a meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at which the 9/11 attacks were planned.  Khalid al Midhar was there, so was Nawaz al Hamzi.  They were at the controls of the American Airlines flight that crashed into the Pentagon.  Others involved in the 9/11 attacks, along with the mastermind of the USS Cole bombing were also there.

To get the full story, listen to the show today.   You will learn that the connection was there.  All the more reason to celebrate the defeat of Saddam Hussein and his Fedayeen goons.

But one thing will remain the same.  For now and forever the left will continue to say that there was no connection between Saddam and al Qaeda .... even after we learned that the connection was not only there, but the connection had direct links to the planning of 9/11.

THE POODLE'S TRIAL BALLOON SHOT DOWN

The Poodle has dropped the idea to delay accepting his nomination in order to raise more money, and will accept the nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Boston this summer.  Apparently he actually thought this idea might work.

The media is saying this was supposed to be a secret, that somehow Kerry was going to spring this idea before the convention.  That story doesn't wash.  What we had here was clearly the launching of a trial balloon.  You get some flunky to drive the idea into a parking lot.  If it dents too many fenders you step forward to denounce the idea and seize the role of hero. The Souffle has spent his entire life doing everything this way.  It's how he can be on both sides of an issue.  Instead of actually making a choice and standing for something, he's for it all!

Anyway, the Poodle had hoped maybe this idea might go through.  You see, the sKerry campaign is far behind the Bush campaign in money raised.  As soon as each candidate is nominated, they get $75 million a piece in taxpayer money to spend on their campaigns.  That's it.  That's all they have to spend.  The Democratic convention is five weeks before the Republican one, so The Poodle is going to have to stretch his millions out over a longer period of time. While Kerry sits on his $75 million, Bush runs an additional five weeks with almost unlimited funding.  Yet more proof that there is a God.

As a Bush spokesman said, "Only John Kerry could be for the nominating convention, but against the nomination - before he was for the nomination."

THE GLOBAL WARMING SCARE

This movie, "The Day After Tomorrow," which actually comes out tomorrow, not the day after tomorrow, is really the current buzz right now.  The movie presents us with a scenario where the Atlantic gulf stream suddenly stops flowing and the atmosphere somehow figures out a way to flip over.  Disaster.  New York is first flooded and then frozen.  Good stuff.  And it's all because of global warming and the global warming is all because of the actions of man.

We'll get into this in greater depth as the movie hits ... but for now just consider this.  For quite a few years now the sun has been getting hotter.  This is a regular cyclical change in activity on the surface of the sun.  When the sun gets hotter, those things near the sun get hotter.  That would include the Earth.  For the next weeks and months you're going to hear the environmental, anti-capitalist left ranting and raving about man causing all of this global warming.  Let me know if you hear any of these radicals .. or any of the news anchors, for that matter ... bring up the issue of increased solar activity.

I'm waiting.

ANTI-AMERICANS  INTERNATIONAL

Amnesty International condemned the war on terror yesterday and said it has flouted human rights and made the world more dangerous.  Now ... I'm not saying they didn't, but does anyone remember Amnesty International condemning the terrorist attacks on the United States?  I'm just curious.  Let me know.  While you're doing the research I'm too lazy to do, maybe you can find out if Amnesty International ever condemned Saddam Hussein for his brutality toward his own people.

Two things often elude liberals: facts and consistency. The Secretary General of Amnesty International, Irene Khan, said "As a strategy, the war on terror is bankrupt of vision and bereft of principle."  Let's pick apart this nonsense, shall we?

Would somebody please tell me how liberating 25 million people from the bloody and brutal dictatorship of Saddam Hussein is an act "bankrupt of vision"?   Would Amnesty International care to tell the families whose members were murdered by Saddam Hussein, whose daughters were raped and murdered, that the war on terror has made the world more dangerous?  How about the Kurds that were slaughtered?  Those who died from Saddam's chemical weapons?  That's because it hasn't, and these morons know it. Saddam Hussein had and used chemical weapons against his enemies, including people in his own country.  Now he's gone.  Now he's not there to use these weapons again ... and this means that the world is more dangerous?  Would someone please explain that concept to me?

This has nothing to do with human rights, and everything to do with hating the United States of America.  To these people, we are not allowed to defend ourselves, at least not without the permission of the United Nations.  To these leftists the terrorists are really nothing less than "freedom fighters" and appear to hold the moral high ground.  After all, they're just misunderstood people.  It's the same thing with Israel.  Amnesty International condemns Israel for defending itself.  Unbelievable.  Once again, the selective outrage of the left rears its ugly head.

Where was this organization on the human rights abuses in Iraq?  North Korea?  Cuba?  The Soviet Union?  Remember: it's only bad if America does it. The photos taken at Abu Ghraib by a few are a walk in the park compared to the systematic death and torture that goes on daily in other countries.

The United States doesn't need lectures from a leftist, anti-American "human rights" organization that ignores real human rights abuses in world.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Here's new evidence of the link between al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein.  Never mind though, no matter how much evidence is gathered the Democratic appeasers will continue to repeat the big lie that no such link exists.  By the way, this story helps Bush.  So don't expect to see a lot of coverage.

Peggy Noonan says let's get out there and catch the terrorists now ... there's all the time in the world for second-guessing later.

Liberals and the media are doing their best to convince the American people that we have lost the war in Iraq.  Ann Coulter sets them straight.

Let's say you're working your way up the Hillary Step on Mount Everest.  What a stud!  You're almost at the peak!  Then you hear the roar of a small engine.  You look up and there's an ultralight aircraft towing a hang glider. That's going to take the lead out of your pencil, don't you think?

Ask and you shall receive...the state of Florida has executed a man who wanted to be executed.  Why should they even have to ask?  It's time to oblige some more people.

The date for Bill Clinton's memoirs has been moved up.  They will be published on June 22.  The purpose is clear: to take as much attention away from John Kerry as possible to ensure his defeat.  There just may be an unholy alliance here.

The ACLU continues to focus on the most important issues of the day: suing Los Angeles County over its official seal, which has been in use since 1957.

Some liberal in Seattle is calling for the death penalty for President Bush over the prison abuses at Abu Ghraib.  What a waste of oxygen.

More contradictory statements from Richard Clarke....this time he's contradicting sworn statements he made in front of the 9/11 Commission.  Isn't that called perjury?

The Poodle is being criticized by others in his party.  Isn't it so much easier when they attack themselves?

Apparently sKerry has been scheming since his Vietnam days to become President of the United States.  He did serve in Vietnam, you know.  In case you needed to be reminded.

A poll shows that more Americans would like to have President Bush at a family barbeque than The Poodle.  A better question is this: would you rather have President Bush in the Oval Office than a member of Al-Qaeda at your family barbeque?

The war in Iraq is not about conquering the country, but rather bringing freedom to an oppressed people.  Excellent op-ed from Janet Daley.

Despite what The Poodle says, his Iraq plan is just like President Bush's, meaning there really isn't any debate.  William Safire explains.

Weapons of mass destruction were confirmed in Iraq, and the media is ignoring it.  The Media Research Center notes one such omission, and points out what they did talk about.

Recently in California the police shot a mountain lion out of a tree to protect some nearby school children.  The thanks they get?  Outraged animal lovers who seem to ignore the reality of the situation, says Thomas Sowell.

The Republican party is starting to shun conservatives that actually favor limited government and other agenda items.  Robert Novak takes a look at a recent example.

So what is the new #1 national pasttime?  NASCAR? Baseball? Basketball? Nope...it's Bush-bashing!  Larry Elder reports.

Confused about that whole Ahmed Chalabi business?  Joel Mowbray says it's all about grudges.

Al Sharpton will be slimeing the podium at the Democratic National Convention this summer.  Emmett Tyrrel has some facts about the Reverend.

At the end of a DARE class May 17, a boy tried to hug the teaching officer, but "in sort of like a defense move, she twisted his arm and put him to the floor."
