THE NATURE OF THE ENEMY

Do you remember that Mosque in Najaf where Moqtada al-Sadr was holed up for weeks?  Al-Sadr's goons were firing mortars at American troops from inside that Mosque .. but American troops showed restraint and never stormed the place.  Finally Shiite cleric Ali al-Sistani, the most powerful Muslim cleric in Iraq, told al Sadr to clear out.

Now we have learned while al-Sadr was hiding in his Mosque his Islamic goons were quite busy.  Their assignment was to kidnap dozens of women and children and bring them into the Mosque.  There they would be murdered.    I think it's possibly safe to say that many of the women were possibly raped before, maybe after, they were murdered.  When al-Sistani ordered them out, Al Sadr and his gang of murderers left the bodies of the women and children inside the Mosque.

So ... what was the purpose?  The Islamic killers fully expected American troops to storm the Mosque to get to them.  When that happened, and after the smoke cleared, the innocent and peace-loving followers of Al Sadr would be able to show the bodies of innocent women and children who were killed in the brutal U.S. assault on this place of holy worship.  Clever plan ... didn't work.

Never forget, especially now, the brutal, murderous nature of the Islamic killers.  They will murder their own sisters, mothers, sons and daughters if they think that they will then be able to use the western media to blame the deaths on American soldiers.  And when the time comes, the Western media will be all-too-eager to relate the story just exactly the way al-Sadr wanted them to.

ANOTHER KERRY LIE.  THIS ONE ABOUT HEALTH CARE FOR VETERANS

Actually ... Kerry is getting quite a lot of help from his lapdog, Sad Max Cleland on this one.  You've heard it, I'm sure, and since there has been very little actual reporting on the facts I would guess you believe it.  The lie is that the Bush Campaign is cutting health care services to veterans.

You'll hear about this in more detail on the Boortz Show today, but here are some quick facts from The Wall Street Journal for you to digest.

  • When Bush took office there were 3.8 million veterans relying on the government for health care.  At that time the waiting list for an initial visit or a referral to a specialist was six months or more and there were 300,000 veterans on the list.
  • Today there are 5 million vets relying on government health care.  There are 3,000 on the wait list, a 99% reduction.
  • Four years ago the Veterans Administration spent $48 billion on health care.  Today that figure is $70 billion.  VA medical spending is up over four years from $20.2 billion to $26.9 billion.

So ... it would seem that there is a bit of lying going on with Sad Max and The Poodle.  The Wall Street Journal reported the true facts.  Most newspapers won't, and you sure won't see the other side presented on any of the broadcast news channels.

AW COME ON ... KERRY DIDN'T CHEAT AGAIN, DID HE?

We all know that the rules of the debate dictated that neither candidate could bring any notes.  If you did bring anything to the podium, you had to clear it with the debate officials beforehand.

On Sunday Drudge ran with a story that has been bouncing around the Internet all weekend.  There's apparently a bit of a mystery  about something The Poodle took out of his pocket when he walked onto the stage at last week's joint press conference ("debate.")  Did The Souffle break the rules?

So what was it?  Who knows...maybe a folded up piece of paper with some facts, figures and talking points.  Does this really matter in the larger scheme of things?  Not a bit, except you have to ask yourself.  What if President Bush had brought aboard a cheat sheet?

Just as the mainstream media will ignore this story, they would have been all over it if Bush were involved.  He would be bashed in the media for needing a paper with notes on it, and they would have questioned his intelligence...as if needing notes meant he were out of touch.

Remember, there are two sets of rules in the media: one for Democrats, and one for Republicans.

You can click here to see a video of Kerry looking at whatever it was.

By the way .... If I were Kerry, this would be my explanation:  "OK, I cheated.  I had a picture of my daughters in my pocket that I looked at before the debate began.  I wanted to remind myself of what I was fighting for, my daughters, and all American children."

Update: Drudge says it was just a black pen.

"A DEADLY EXPLOSION ROCKS BAGHDAD"   IMAGINE THAT

As I saddled up the computer this morning and turned on the news I learned that there was yet another "deadly explosion" in Baghdad.

Of course there was another explosion in Baghdad!  Islamic extremists and terrorists are over there fighting for their very lives.  They are facing the horrendous possibility of free elections in Iraq in just a few months.  If these elections are actually held, and if the people of Iraq, the largest Muslim Middle East Nation, actually elect the people who will run their government and who will oversee a society based on the rule of law rather than the rule of the Mullah, it will be a true catastrophe for Islamic despots.  They must make every attempt they can to disrupt and prevent, if possible, these elections.

I can't help but think how much better things would be in Iraq right now if the left in this country had been behind the liberation of the people of Iraq, instead of spending so much time bemoaning the removal of Saddam Hussein.

NOBEL PEACE PRIZE COMING UP FRIDAY

Let's see how many of these predictions will be true for this year's winner.  This year's winner(s) of the Nobel Peace Prize will:

  • Be generally unfriendly toward The United States.
  • Speak French
  • Be favorably impressed with The United Nations.
  • Want the US to subject itself to the International Criminal Court
  • Whether male or female, have the hots for Hillary
  • Be against the liberation of Iraq and the removal of Saddam Hussein
  • Support the so-called "Palestinians" in their war of terror against Israel
  • Drink red wines with unpronounceable names.  French wines.
  • Speak openly of his or her slobbering admiration for John Kerry
  • Actually like soccer and will call it "football."
  • Support the crippling of the American economy through ratification of the Kyoto Treaty
  • Be liberal
  • Think Christians are dangerous
  • Think Islam is really a religion of peace
  • Look funny and unkempt
  • Believe that the US has no inherent right of self-defense
  • Drive a 4-cylinder car

Keep this list.  We'll add up my score at the end of the week.

UNDECIDED VOTERS --- JUST FORGET IT

If by this time you haven't figured out figured out who you're going to vote for in 31 days, do us all a favor and stay home.  The issues are so clear and the dangers facing our country are so obvious that you constitute merely another threat.  Find a good escapist movie and gobble a few bags of popcorn while the rest of us do the heavy lifting on Election Day.

MEAN REPUBLICANS ARE AT IT AGAIN

Basking in the glow of his single-digit bounce in the polls after the first debate, The Poodle is now accusing Republicans of preventing people from voting.  Speaking Sunday to the congregation at one of Cleveland's largest black churches, sKerry said "In battleground states across the country, we're hearing stories of how people are trying to make it harder to file for additional time, or how they're making it harder to even register."  He also whined that "We're not going to let that happen because the memories of 2000 are too strong. We're not going to allow 1 million African Americans to be disenfranchised."

This is all part of the Democratic spin strategy, which is that if you repeat a lie often enough, people will start to believe it.  First of all, this idea that the Republican party is preventing people from voting is nonsense.  It's a simple scare tactic.  Anybody who wants to vote can.  If somebody is too stupid to figure out how to vote, or where to go to register, or what the deadline is, then they don't deserve to vote and we don't need their input.  Of course, anybody that stupid is probably a Democrat, so that's why The Poodle is so concerned.

As for the lie of the supposed disenfranchisement, that's another leftist Democratic fantasy that has never come true.  Just because you can't get to the polls, don't know where it is, or can't figure out the ballot, doesn't mean you're disenfranchised.  Clueless maybe, but that has nothing to do with disenfranchisement.  The sKerry campaign knows the election is going to be close, so they're doing their best to plant the seeds of fear, uncertainty and doubt in advance, in the hopes that it will somehow taint the result.

Oh, and one last thing...George W. Bush won the 2000 election fair and square.  That's tough to take, isn't it?

DINOSAURS STICK UP FOR EACH OTHER

Over the weekend, Dan Rather made his first major public appearance since he used forged National Guard documents on the air to bash the president.  This was at the New Yorker Festival in New York, and the big three were on the panel - Rather, Peter Jennings and Tom Brokaw.

During this discussion, Rather said some unbelievable things.  Said Dan: "I don't have a political agenda. What I'm trying to be is an honest broker of information."  Oh really?  That doesn't quite square with Dan's hatred of the Bush family, or his slanted, liberally biased news coverage.  Anyone with a TV set and half a  brain knows otherwise.  Dan Rather doesn't have a political agenda?  Riiiiggggghhhhttttt.  And I have a full head of hair.

Rather really didn't want to say much about it the whole affair, saying CBS told him to keep quiet because of the ongoing investigation.  But Tom Brokaw more than picked up the slack for Dan.

Brokaw said that CBS' and Rather's mistakes had been "greatly exaggerated" in comparison to the fact that the White House lied to the world about Iraq and weapons of mass destruction.  Brokaw said "There is a kind of political jihad against Dan Rather and CBS News that is quite outrageous."  Outrageous?  The only thing that is outrageous is that it has taken this long for Bush-bashing Dan to be caught red-handed.

As for the lie that the White House lied to the world about Iraq, that's false.  There is not one shred of evidence in existence that George Bush lied to anyone about Iraq and weapons of mass destruction.  By the way, you do know that weapons of mass destruction have been found in Iraq, don't you?

The Old Media guard is getting called on their liberal bias, and they can't take the heat.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Let's read about the great "debate" going on in the Muslim community about just who Muslims are allowed to kidnap and who they are allowed to kill.  Answer:  Just about anyone.

But .. just to show you how fair I am ... here's a story about a Muslim cleric who refused to be freed in exchange for hostages.  He says that kidnapping and holding others is not permitted in Islam.  Oh, wait.  He meant "fellow Muslims!"  Never mind.  For a scant second there I thought we had found a Muslim cleric with a clue.

The Wall Street Journal has a good profile on Mary Mapes, the "journalist" behind the CBS forged document scandal.

Governments continue to confiscate private property through the abuse of eminent domain privileges.  Jeff Jacoby looks at the history of law in this area, and covers some of the most outrageous cases.

Dick Cheney debates the ambulance-chaser tomorrow night in Cleveland.  No podiums this time, and they haven't decided whether to use the lights yet.  Too bad..that was the fun part in the first debate.  PBS' Gwenn Ifill moderates.

Sandy Berger (remember him?) is still under investigation for stuffing classified documents in his socks. The media may be ignoring it, but the justice department isn't.

If John Kerry is so smart and polished, then how come nobody knows what his stand on Iraq is?  Mark Steyn analyzes The Poodle's debate performance from last week.

Is Iraq another Vietnam?  sKerry talks about "the lesson of Vietnam."  This editorial makes that case that Iraq is nothing like Vietnam.

In the debate, The Poodle took several stands on Iraq...and Michael Barone documents the inconsistencies.

The media has had a disastrous summer...with the CBS Rathergate controversy just the tip of the iceberg.  John Leo runs down the spectacular cases of media bias.

The Poodle likes to talk about how he would bring our allies together.  Paul Crespo says not only does this demean our current allies, but it helps our enemies.

Kerry may have done better with style points in the debates, but Joel Mowbray says he still did not offer a clear, alternative vision.

The media, the Democrats and the polls may all say The Poodle won the debate, but Debra Saunders says otherwise - Bush's arguments beat Kerry's, hands-down.

As only he can, Professor Mike Adams shares a letter written to the Chancellor at UNC-Wilmington.

George Bush's hometown newspaper endorsed John Kerry.  But Diana West asks whether that means anything, and notes some of the totalitarian regimes around the world that have also endorsed The Poodle.

Tired of scuba diving, skiing and plain old deer hunting? Why not fly to Norway and shoot baby seals.
