REBOOTING

After the Democratic and Republican conventions and an encounter with one Hurricane too many it's time to reboot ... and that's exactly what I'm doing this week.  Keep checking back with Nealz Nuze though because my warped staff is going to be putting some of their comments on line, the winsome Web Wench will undoubtedly find some interesting things to post, and I won't be able to resist putting my own two cents worth in from time to time. Today Jay Severin guest hosts on The Neal Boortz Show.

Random Notes from Neal --- Friday, September 10th.

  • Are you giving any thought today to what happened to us three years ago tomorrow?  If you truly understand the nature of the threat that still faces us, if you love this country, and if you have one-half the ability God gave you to think rationally then there could be no way you would vote to endanger our people and our national sovereignty by putting John Kerry in the driver's seat.
  •
  • Democratic Senator Joe Biden wrote a 1500 word epistle for yesterday's Wall Street Journal.  Biden told us how wonderful American foreign policy would be if we would just make John Kerry our next president.  In reading Biden's piece you will see the phrase "radical fundamentalism" used several times, along with the phrases "rouge states" and "stateless actors."  You will also see the words "terror" and "terrorist" used at least once.  One ONCE in the entire column will you see the word "Muslim" or "Islamic."  Senator Joseph Biden, the ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, just can't bring himself to say the word ... to identify the people who have vowed to kill us.  How in the hell are these Democrats going to protect us from Islamic terrorists ... terrorists who will shoot school children in the back and fill them with shrapnel .... if they can't even bring themselves to identify them?
  •
  • Has Dan Rather ever interviewed a member of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth on 60 Minutes?  If he has, I don't remember it.  But he sure jumped on that interview with the Kerry campaign operative who now says he pulled strings to get George W. Bush into the National Guard.  Funny, he was singing a different tune a few months ago ... before he went to work for the Kerry campaign.
  •
  • Question:  Which is more important; (a) whether or not President Bush showed up for National Guard duty 35 years ago, or (b) whether he showed up for duty as Commander in Chief for the past four years.  If Bush were basing his entire set of presidential qualifications on his National Guard duty, then we might have a problem.  Funny ... but I don't remember that being a centerpiece of his campaign.  I must have been on vacation that day.
  •
  • Yesterday John Kerry was telling us that on Day One of his presidency, within hours of being sworn in as president, he will send legislation to the congress to make affordable health care available to all Americans.  Wow!  Kerry is that good, is he? He can solve all of our health care problems in mere hours?  Well, if he's that good why did he cruise through 20 years in the Senate without introducing that very legislation?  He couldn't come up with a bill in 20 years, but now he's going to do it in less than 24 hours?  Amazing!  The man's a miracle worker!

THE NEVER-ENDING NATIONAL GUARD

The media, in its never-ending quest to destroy George Bush, now can't stop talking about his National Guard service.  Never mind that the media ignored the claims of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.  When it comes to the left, there is a clear double standard.  Any story that would benefit the Bush campaign will be buried, and any story that will hurt them is front page news.  So this National Guard business is front and center.

CBS News is leading the charge,  with Mr. Impartiality himself Dan Rather  most concerned about whether or not  George Bush got any special treatment while he was in the guard.  This is all about payback over the Swift Boat ads...how dare anyone question The Poodle on his Vietnam service!  It's time for Bush to get his.

So Rather has interviewed Ben Barnes, who claims that the only reason he is coming out and talking about this is because he wants the truth to be known.  That is a lie.  The truth is he is a partisan Democrat who has shown up with 54 days to go before the election to try and damage President Bush's election chances.  You would have to be a moron to think otherwise.

So Barnes claimed he pulled strings to get Bush into the Guard.  Two words: so what?  Who cares?  Is President Bush making his service in the National Guard an issue in his campaign?  No....so what is the motivation here?  The only true motivation is for the Bush-hating media to do everything within their power to defeat George Bush and elect The Poodle.  There is no other reason.

Something else...consider this:  the media is now concerned about how accurate President Bush's National Guard records from 35 years ago are...but oddly, they don't show the same concern for The Poodle's Vietnam records.  So when it comes to Republicans, we are supposed to question the decisions of the military, yet with Democrats, we must accept everything in their file as 100% truth.

The facts are the facts....Bush was never AWOL.  Ever.  Had he been AWOL, he would not have been honorably discharged from the service.  End of discussion.

KOFI SEES DEMOCRACY FAILING

U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan said yesterday that the spread of Democracy throughout Latin America has failed to reduce poverty.  Said the wise one: "Democracy has still not efficiently responded to the aspirations of the region's poor."  In other words, only socialist and totalitarian societies can eradicate poverty.  Right...tell that to the starving people in North Korea.  What an idiot.  But it gets better.

"Today in some quarters (democracy) is even challenged for being part of the problem," according to Annan.  So there you have it...straight from the head of the U.N.  Democracy is a failure.  The people are too stupid to elect their own leaders and chart their own political course.  In Kofi's world, capitalism is a failed experiment.  Only government can ensure "fair" allocation of resources so as to eradicate poverty.  I'm sure if he thought he could get away with it, Annan would have continued his speech by touting the wonders of communism.  To the U.N., only a vast welfare state can bring about the results they're looking for.  (Sort of reminds  you of the modern Democratic party.)

The truth is now completely out: Kofi Annan is a socialist.  This proves once again that the entire mission of the United Nations, at its core, is completely un-American.  So why do we participate in this corrupt, worthless organization in the first place?

Beats me.

AL GORE IS OUT OF HIS STRAIGHT JACKET AGAIN

In an interview with the New Yorker, former Vice President and almost president (thank God he lost) Al Gore is once again attacking the president.  This is unbelievable.  Al has apparently resigned himself to the fact that he will now live the rest of his life as a bitter victim.  The sour grapes have now lasted four years.  How much longer are you going to hold a grudge, Al?  Apparently forever.

So anyway, in this interview Gore said he did not like President Bush's public declaration of his faith.  "It's a particular kind of religiosity.  It's the American version of the same fundamentalist impulse that we see in Saudi Arabia, in Kashmir, in religions around the world: Hindu, Jewish, Christian, Muslim. They all have certain features in common."  That's right, your eyes do not deceive you....Al Gore has just compared President Bush's religious expression to fundamentalist Islam.  Allrighty then.

Gore continued Bashing the president....saying "I wasn't surprised by Bush's economic policies, but I was surprised by the foreign policy, and I think he was, too.  The real distinction of this presidency is that, at its core, he is a very weak man."  Wow...awfully personal there...do I sense a bit of resentment?  What's next?  Al protesting in front of the White House gate with a sign saying "get out of my house?"  You never know.

Gore went on to call Bush a bully and a moral coward, but you get the idea.  Unbelievably, Al Gore can't let go of his 2000 election defeat, but he seems to hold genuine  personal hatred for the man that defeated him.

Now that's weak.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Dick Cheney said that if America makes the wrong choice on Election Day, then we might have another terrorist attack.  The media and the Democrats are out of their minds with hysteria....but Ann Coulter cuts through the nonsense.

Here is the best explanation yet of George W. Bush's service in the Texas National Guard.  You won't hear much about this from the mainstream media, because it does not serve their goal of electing The Poodle.  Byron York has all the details.

More than half of Los Angeles County's working-age population can't read worth a damn.  Isn't that nice...although it could also be a reasonable explanation as to why California votes overwhelmingly Democratic.

The White House is warning that it might veto a spending bill.  Well, there is a first time for everything, isn't there?  This "compassionate conservatism" business is starting to get a little pricey.

Now all of the race warlords are jumping on Bill Cosby's personal responsibility bandwagon.  For decades they have preached the complete opposite, and now they're claiming to agree with him.  Whatever.

Representative Ron Paul is standing up against the forced mental-health screening for every child in America.  He's calling it what it is....a thinly veiled attempt to drug more kids.

Apparently the Bush campaign only wants 2 debates,
not 3 as is being proposed.  Expect the media to blow this out of proportion, and also expect the media to hide the fact that Bill Clinton did in 1996.

New CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll is out....Bush is up 8 points in Ohio.  Grief counselors are on their way to The Poodle's campaign headquarters as we speak.

The media is starting to get it...The Poodle's biggest problem isn't his campaign structure, but his message.  What does he stand for?  Who knows...

Kerry's campaign seems to be destined for failure......at least Nicholas Von Hoffman thinks so.

The Poodle has a Vietnam problem...he can't stop talking about it because The Swift Boat Vets won't let him, yet he doesn't seem to have any other message.  Zev Chafets has more.

The Islamic world seems to be ignoring the atrocity in Russia...but Ralph Peters says by not saying anything, they might as well be complicity in the child murders.

The Democrats may not even need to run ads on CBS, as long as they have John Roberts in their corner.  The Media Research Center reports.

The protesters at the Republican National Convention represent a new trend in American politics: hatred.  Robert Novak tells us more.

Why did the Republicans get a big bounce out of their convention, while the Democrats came up empty?  Larry Elder explains why.

Probably the biggest economic issue in this presidential election is jobs.  But Thomas Sowell says the discussion is not very rational, and it gets even more dishonest when the subject of outsourcing comes up.

Professor Mike Adams takes a look at the religious left, and the double standard when it comes to religion in politics.
