THE MULLAHS AND THEIR NUKES

On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon visited President Bush at his ranch in Crawford, Texas.  Judging by their remarks at a joint press conference afterward, the two had quite the time...with Bush driving Sharon around in his pick-em-up truck.  They also had talks about a number of issues, most of which the two countries are in agreement.

However, while Sharon was down in Crawford, it has been reported that one of his generals was along for the ride.  While he was there, he showed Bush aerial photographs of Iranian nuclear installations.  These photographs reportedly show their weapons program at an advanced stage.  In other words, it looks like it won't be long before the Islamic terror state of Iran has nuclear weapons.

Think about that for a minute.  We invaded Iraq and overthrew Saddam Hussein because he had the capability to produce nuclear weapons.  These Muslim psychos in Tehran make Saddam Hussein look like an amateur.  So what would Iran do with a nuclear weapon?  Well, let's look at their statements about the United States and Israel.

They have called for the destruction of the Israel, and have repeatedly called the United States "The Great Satan."  So since these Islamic terrorists seem to like us so much, I'm sure they'll have no problem selling their nukes to the highest bidder.  Nuclear Al-Qaeda, anyone?

Israel has said they won't allow Iran to have a nuclear warhead, and have made rumblings that they'll bomb the reactors, just like they did to Iraq some 20 years ago.  Perhaps we should just take care of it now, before it's too late.

Some people seem to have a difficult time grasping this concept ... especially the anti-war "activist" peace-at-any-price crowd.  Sometimes you have to make a decision to act based on the possible consequences of a failure to act.  That's the way it was in Iraq.  Your leftist Mynah Birds will sit on their perches and squawk "no weapons of mass destruction, no weapons of mass destruction" for hours on end.  They think this passes as deep social commentary.  The fact is we know for a drop-dead certain fact that Saddam did have WMDs, and the best intelligence we were able to generate said that Saddam had all of the supplies and materials on hand to make some more, and to make them quickly once the threat of an American invasion was past.  Only in the mind of an American liberal would this threat seem insignificant.  We acted in Iraq because of the possible negative consequences of a failure to act.  It was the only responsible course of action.  You don't pay big bucks for home insurance because you expect your house to burn down.  You buy that insurance in case it burns down.  We didn't invade Iraq because we knew Saddam had the weapons.  We ousted him, among other reasons, because he might have them; and if he had them they would eventually be used against us.  Reason enough.  Now it's time to put that same logic to work against Iran.  Time to take the stealth bombers out for a spin and make a little glass in the desert.

SECRET SERVICE VISITS COLLEGE

Last week, an art exhibit called "Axis of Evil: The Secret History of Sin," opened at Columbia College in Chicago.  The exhibit was a liberal extremist smorgasbord of anti-American and Bush-hating artwork.  Such is life in a free society.  But one of the paintings drew the attention of the Secret Service.

The artwork featured what looked like a sheet of 37-cent postage stamps (soon to go up by two cents, by the way.)  On the stamp was a likeness of George Bush over a background of the American flag with the words "Patriot Act" underneath.  So far, so good.  But then there is the small matter of the stamps showing a gun to George Bush's head.

Uh-oh. You can fill in the rest...someone complained to the Secret Service, and they sent a few agents down to investigate.

The curator of the exhibit said the inquiry frightens him, saying  "It starts questioning all rights, not only my rights or the artists' rights in this room, but questioning the rights of any artist who creates - any writer, any visual artist, any performance artist. It seems like we're being watched."

Such is the state of the modern artist.  A sad state indeed.

When it comes to threats against the life of the President of the United States, we're all being watched.  That's the way it's been for decades.  Nothing new.

At any rate, some are reporting that the Secret Service "raided" the exhibit.  They did nothing of the sort.  They sent two agents, who took a few pictures, asked for the artist's contact information and left.  A spokesman said  "We certainly respect artistic freedoms, but the Secret Service also has the responsibility to look into exhibits or statements when necessary. In this instance we've done just that.  The Secret Service hasn't confiscated any artwork or questioned anyone against their wishes; we just need to ensure as best we can that this is nothing more than artwork with a political statement."

Threaten the president, expect the knock at the door.

THE FIRST AFRICAN POPE

With the Papal Conclave (that's the meeting where they choose the next Pope, for those of you receiving the earned income tax credit this year) just around the corner, the media has started the guessing game about who the successor to Pope John Paul II will be.  The consensus seems to be that the Cardinals will pick someone where Catholicism is spreading the fastest...perhaps Latin America, Africa or somewhere else in the Third World.

One contender is Cardinal Francis Arinze, 72, of Nigeria.  If chosen, the media has informed us that he would be the first African Pope...the first black Pope.  There have been headlines questioning whether or not the world is ready for the first black Pope.  The only problem with such reporting is that they're about 1,500 years too late.

You see, a little research will show that  not only has there been an African Pope before, but there have been three.  They are: Pope Saint Victor 1, who served from 186-197 A.D., Pope Saint Miliades 1 from 311 to 314 A.D. and Pope Saint Gelasius 1 from 492-496 A.D.

So there you go...a little fact-checking on the part of the incompetent mainstream media.  Go ahead, impress your friends!

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Teresa Heinz Kerry's conspiracy theories about voting irregularities have rubbed off on The Poodle as well as Hillary Clinton.  Michelle Malkin says they're all pandering to the crackpot left, and that's good for Republicans.

John Linder has reintroduced the FairTax bill, also known as H.R. 25.  Call your representative and tell them you support a fairer system of taxation in this country.  Remember: under the FairTax plan, there will be no more April 15th tax filing deadline.

Here's an update on The Poodle's mention of the name of a CIA analyst at the John Bolton hearings.  Apparently the name had been mentioned several times before.

Israel is set to commence with the historic withdrawal from the Gaza strip.  Yet, as John Podhoretz notes, all the media can talk about this week is a very minor disagreement between Israel and the United States.

The AARP is bent on defeating personal accounts because they don't want to divert a single penny from the Gimme Generation.  Jim Wooten has the details.

The left doesn't like President Bush's nominee to be UN ambassador at all, the the mainstream media is piling on at every chance.  The Media Research Center reports.

Walter Williams has had enough of the reign of stupidity by the TSA.  He continues with part two of his excellent series of columns about airport security.

The same fate tends to befall anyone who dares to question those who worship at the holy shrine of global warming.  John Stossel shares some of his e-mail from those who disagreed with his column on the subject.

The media wants you to believe that Tom DeLay is in deep trouble...but Linda Chavez takes a look at just what DeLay has done, and sees if it's really that big of a deal.

The media just couldn't let go of the absence of Jimmy Carter at Pope John Paul II's funeral.  Brent Bozell isn't surprised, and says the media has been missing Carter for 25 years.

With polls showing the Democrats soft on terrorism, what is their strategy to turn this around?  Rich Lowry says it's apparently to bash John  Bolton for being critical of the United Nations.

Morning Sickness: A married woman's lover beat her husband to death when it was discovered he had been living in a closet in their home.
