THIS IS HOW RANCID OUR POLITICS HAVE BECOME

Have you ever heard of the "Race for the Cure?"  It's an event sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  This foundation collects and distributes money for breast cancer research.  So far so good.  Now .... did you know that Planned Parenthood provides free screening programs for breast cancer and various breast cancer educational programs?  That would be good too.  The trouble here is that Planned Parenthood is pro-choice.  Planned Parenthood supports abortion providers.  Now things get sticky.

Let's bring two Senators into the game.  Wyoming senators Craig Thomas and Mike Enzi.  Both Republicans.  Both believe that the federal government should have the power to put a gun to a woman's head and force her to have a baby she does not want to have.  In other words, they're anti-abortion. Both of these Senators support the Susan G. Komen foundation.  They are very strong on breast cancer issues.  Now both of these senators are taking heat for their support of the Komen foundation.  How dare they support an organization who's main cause is to eradicate breast cancer?  Don't they know that the Komen foundation gives grants to Planned Parenthood?  OK, so Planned Parenthood is also involved in the fight against breast cancer.  That doesn't matter.  They have a connection with abortion and anything that has any connection with abortion just has to be completely and absolutely evil and must not be supported in any way .... no matter how much good work it does.

There are just some people out there who have such a bad case of chronic rectal-cranial inversion that they're beyond any help.

KEEPING UP THE HEAT ON DELAY

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay continues to take the slings and arrows of the mainstream media and the left. The anti-DeLay jihad seems to be aimed at running him out of Congress, making the Republican party look bad and perhaps most importantly, creating a juicy target for their Democrat fund raising appeals. The left needs a bogeyman to raise money, and for the moment, DeLay is it.

So in the case of the liberals vs. Tom DeLay, let's take a look at the facts and review the charges. Last week the New York Times ran a story reporting that DeLay had hired family members to work on his campaigns and his political action committee. Not long after that, it was reported that scores of other House members did the same thing about 48 Senators and representatives ... both Democrats and Republicans. Nothing there.

Then there was the trip to Russia. The media reported that DeLay's 1997 trip was paid for by lobbyists. Imagine that...he must be a crook! Well, not so fast. The trip was paid for by a non-profit organization, and many members of Congress do the same thing all the time. Again, nothing there.

Now the Democrats are howling about the change in the House ethics committee rules sought by DeLay. He had been the target of a political investigation, so he decided the rules should be changed. At least one member of the other party on the committee has to agree to conduct an investigation of a member. That's the "abuse of power" that Democrats are talking about. Was it politically smart to change the ethics rules? Probably not. But an abuse of power? Hardly.

Apparently DeLay has a relationship with a shady lobbyist who allegedly paid for some of DeLay's overseas trips. That's against the rules. But it won't be investigated without at least one Republican on the ethics committee agreeing to let it happen. We'll see.

Democrats have their lightning rod. Most of what they're accusing DeLay of doing is done everyday by other members of Congress. Perhaps that doesn't make it right...but it sure doesn't make it unique.

If DeLay deserves to go down over anything, it's his despicable conduct threatening federal judges in the Terri Schiavo case.

BUSH AUDIENCE CONTROVERSY

Another political story making the rounds concerns the makeup of the audiences at President Bush's public events. George Bush has been going around the country promoting the fixing of Social Security. It is quite obvious to just about anyone that the events are heavily choreographed and staged. If you watch these appearances by the president, you will never hear a question from someone critical of Bush's plan.

So what's the problem? Democrats and other people who either aren't on the list for such events or are outright banned from the audience are upset. They say they should be allowed in. The media is following suit...making it sound like George Bush is the first person to stage political events. Hardly.

Every president in the modern age has done this very thing. Events are staged with supporters...it goes on all the time. Do you think Bill Clinton would have held an event and allowed a bunch of pro-impeachment forces in? Nope. It's also a security threat. The Secret Service recognizes that people who are opposed to the president's policies are most likely to be the ones who don't mean him well. As a result, they're not invited.

The idea that this is somehow new is a ridiculous attempt on the part of the left to continue to present George Bush in a negative light.

By the way ...when Hillary Clinton was conducting her "listening tours" to see if she wanted to run for the Senate in New York she did exactly the same thing.  Every single stop on her listening tour was populated only by people carefully chosen to encourage Hillary to run.  Since she's been Senator it's been the same thing.  Hand picked audiences everywhere she goes

Somehow this is bad when Bush does it ... but ignored for The Hildabeast.  Hopefully nobody is surprised.

THE DEATH PENALTY

36-year-old David Onstott was charged yesterday with first degree murder down in Florida. On April 10th, Onstott broke into 13-year-old Sarah Lunde's house, perhaps molested her, then choked her to death. After that, he dumped her body in an abandoned fish pond, where it was found Saturday.

Is there any reason that this worthless waste of oxygen shouldn't be put on the fast track straight to the death chamber? He's confessed to killing her...so let's just save the system a whole lot of time and trouble and just line him up and shoot him. Well, actually he gets his choice...'ole sparky or lethal injection. Doesn't matter...his dirt nap can't come soon enough.

Can anyone possibly look at this case and not support the death penalty? If anyone deserves to die, it's somebody who choked an innocent 13-year-old girl to death.

Is there a registered sex offender in your area? Look it up here.

WELL ... AFTER ALL ... IT IS A VERY VERSATILE WORD.

We're talking the "F" word here.  That four-letter word ending in "k" that means intercourse.  Now, being well tuned to the concerns of my listeners, I'll simply substitute another four-letter word that ends in "k" and means intercourse for the actual word we're talking about.  Yes, there are at least two such words.  The other one is "talk."

Now .. what's this all about?  Drudge had a link this morning to something called The West Virginia Surf Report.  This site has won some sort of an award for web weirdness.  Nice.  I'm not giving you the web address because you would promptly take all of his bandwidth and kill the site.   For some reason Jeff, the guy who runs the site, has decided to count the number of times the "F" word is used in the HBO series Deadwood.  I've never seen Deadwood, so I have no idea what he's talking about.  At any rate, here's his tally for Deadwood's season two.

Total "talks" in seasons one and two:  1519
Total "talks" per minute for seasons one and two:  1.45
Total "talks" in season two:  688
Average "talks" per episode:  98.3
Total "talks" per minute during season two: 1.84

We should point out that the total "talks" per minute in season one was 1.23.  Obviously things are getting worse.  Fact is, the "F" word is probably one of the most versatile words in the English language ... but we'll continue to work without that versatility here on The Neal Boortz Show.

RANDOM AND INTEMPERATE THOUGHTS

  • The nation's homebuilders have pulled  their 2007 and 2008 conventions from Atlanta .  These conventions would have brought about 100,000 people to Atlanta both of those years.  The official reason?  Not enough convention space and centrally located hotel rooms.  Of course that ridiculous email from the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau suggesting that hotels raise their rates during the conventions didn't help things.  I think the real reason is the closing of the Gold Club.  Come on, these are homebuilders, not a Vatican conclave.

  • Congratulations to Shirley Franklin!  Time Magazine has named her one of the best Mayors in the U.S.    If the Braves could go from worst to first in 1991, why couldn't Atlanta do the same thing ten years later? Meanwhile we in Atlanta are awaiting the trial of our former mayor, the rancid and rotting Bill Campbell.

  • Enough!  Looks like another few days of Vatican-mania.

  • Observers say that the next Pope has to find a way to attract more young men to the Priesthood.  Easy.  Allow them to marry.  There are married Catholic priests you know.

  • I am so glad I picked up the AJC this morning.  Diana DeGarmo is going to her High School Prom in Snellville.  Now I feel so much better

  • OK .. Just how demented am I?  I would have liked to have been on that cruise ship when that 70 foot wave hit.  That's how demented. Here's a web site showing merchant ships in heavy seas. What a ride!

  • I keep seeing that CNN promo where Larry King says "Forty thousand interviews, and I'm just warming up!"  That's nice, Larry.  I figure that over 36 years of talk radio I've taken about 189,000 phone calls ... and I've been hot for quite some time now.

  • This morning I heard that rocket surgeon Soledad O'Brien (CNN) talking about tax day.  She asked about how much money George Bush and Dick Cheney "had to give back" to the government.  So ... paying taxes is "giving back" to the government.  This presupposes that the money was not actually earned, but was given to you.  Typical leftist thinking.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Jay Cost writes that since everything thinks that Hillary Clinton is a brilliant politician ... that probably proves that she is not.

How about a bet on the next Pope?

Ann Coulter is on the cover of Time Magazine this week...and the cover picture has a few people scratching their heads. Seems hers looks a little out of proportion. At least she's trying to quit smoking.

Newt Gingrich for president? He's not downplaying the speculation that he might run for the presidency. Dick Morris says there's no way he could win, and Hillary would easily beat him.

Rocker Ted Nugent had some advice for the NRA convention: he told them to become hardcore, radical extremists demanding the right to self defense. His best line: "To show you how radical I am, I want carjackers dead. I want rapists dead. I want burglars dead. I want child molesters dead. I want the bad guys dead. No court case. No parole. No early release. I want 'em dead. Get a gun and when they attack you, shoot 'em."

Democrats are portraying John Bolton as someone in need of anger management who has a violent temper. Mark Steyn takes a look at the transcripts from the hearings to see just it's all about.

So why is the media targeting Tom DeLay? Former Congressman Bob Livingston says it's because he's effective. This is the column that the New York Times didn't want Livingston to write.

With the Papal Conclave underway and a new Pope set to be chosen, Lech Walesa looks back at the accomplishments of his fellow countryman, Pope John Paul II.

The mainstream media not only doesn't understand the alternative media (talk shows, bloggers and the like,) but they're actually worried about it. The Media Research Center reports.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has the votes to execute the "nuclear option" of busting the filibuster, but the question is will he do it? Robert Novak reports.

The left not only hates George W. Bush, but judging by some of their more recent works of art, many on the left want to see the president dead. John Leo takes a look at some of the violent left's antics.

Last week, Professor Mike Adams gave a speech at Gonzaga University...and didn't like what he saw there. More tales from the halls of leftist academia. [Warning: may contain some naughty words.]
