THE DISHONOR AWARDS
Last night was an absolute blast. I was
honored, along with Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter, to be one of the three awards
presenters at the Media Research Center's
"DisHonor Awards." These awards recognized outrageous liberal
bias in the nation's mainstream media. Brent Bozell and the staff of the
MRC did a fantastic job of presenting the sold-out audience at Washington's J.W.
Marriott Hotel with a well-produced evening of fun and amazement. You
really can't believe some of these things these leftist media types come up with
... until you actually see them on video tape. Walter Cronkite, for
instance, suggesting that Karl Rove had something to do with Osama's virtual
endorsement of The Poodle just prior to the 2004 election. There was also
a fantastic 20 minute video presentation of the onslaught against the
Swift Vote Veterans for Truth when they came out with their allegations against
John Kerry. The media saw their boy's candidacy slipping away, and they
reacted with predictable viciousness and bias. An incredible evening ---
and I don't think I embarrassed myself too badly. The entire evening was
videotaped ... and I'm wondering if it is going to show up on CSPAN at some time
in the future. I'll inquire and let you know. TODAY IS EARTH DAY
Today is the unofficial holiday of environmentalists the world over: Earth Day. This is the 35th anniversary. So what is Earth Day all about?
It used to stand for things like clean air, clean water and a litter-free environment. Yet from the start, and even more so today, Earth Day and the modern environmental movement have become a haven for socialists, communists and other anti-American types.
This is reflected in the environmentalists' most pressing issue these days: global warming. Despite the fact that scientists disagree on the issue and that there is no definite proof that global warming
has in any way been caused by the actions of man, that doesn't matter. All that matters is that environmentalists are using it to drive their anti-capitalist, anti-American agenda.
It seems like every day there's a new headline....there's a hole in the ozone layer...the polar ice caps are melting...the climate is changing....Armageddon is surely at hand! Because of this, the left and their enviro-cronies expect the United States to sign the Kyoto agreement...which would bind us to a set of unattainable rules that would destroy our economy and wouldn't improve the environment.
Which is their real agenda anyway. It's no longer about the environment...it hasn't been for a long time. It's all about a political movement being used to advocate the end of American capitalism. Take, for example the problem of high gas prices.
If you want to know why gas is well over $2 a gallon, look no further than your friendly neighborhood environmentalist who won't allow more refineries to be built, who requires the oil companies to produce some 55 different gasoline blends in the summer and who won't allow oil exploration in many places in the United States which would reduce our dependence on foreign sources of oil.
Happy Earth Day!
DEATH AT THE HANDS OF ISLAM
If there were ever a single incident to illustrate the merciless death culture of Islamic terrorism, this is it. Those of you who don't know who the enemy is in the war on terror, pay attention to this one.
Yesterday in Baghdad, Islamic terrorists (or "insurgents," as the media likes to call them)
shot down a helicopter, killing 6 Americans, three Bulgarians and two people from Fiji. A video was released by "The Islamic Army of Iraq" showing the carnage and taking responsibility. But what is also shown on the videotape should tell you everything you need to know about who we're dealing with.
On the video, one of the Islamic goons finds a survivor lying in a ditch. The cameraman gives the order to shoot, and with that, the bloodthirsty bastard guns down the innocent survivor of the crash in cold blood. But that's not all...before he was executed, the man told the terrorists that his leg was broken. At that point, the merciless followers of Allah forced him to stand on it, spending his last moments in excruciating pain.
How many Muslim groups will we hear publicly condemning this atrocity, committed in the name of Islam? President Bush visited a mosque after 9/11 where he famously declared that "Islam is peace."
Death seems to be more like it.
These people will kill again .. and they will
kill Americans ... and they will kill Americans in the thousands. The
question is not if. The question is when.
GREENSPAN WARNS ON DEFICITS
Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan was up on the Hill yesterday testifying in front of the Senate Budget Committee. In his remarks, he voiced his concern about the budget deficit. For those of you in or out of government schools, the budget deficit is the amount of money the United States overspends every year.
At any rate, Greenspan is concerned. He says if the deficits go unchecked, they "would cause the economy to stagnate or worse." The Fed Chief also said "The federal budget is on an unsustainable path, in which large deficits result in rising interest rates and ever-growing interest payments that augment deficits in future years." So now we know the problem....but what is ths solution?
Greenspan's remarks will be used to advocate raising taxes. Naturally, since we have a deficit, we need to get the money from some place. Right? Wrong. The entire problem with the deficit has nothing to do with taxation. The problem is excessive government spending. Think of it in terms of your family...if you spend more money than you take in, what do you do? You cut spending. But you're not the government.
Politicians in both parties...and Republicans in particular, love to spend money. The size of the federal government has doubled in the last 10 years under Republican Congressional control. President Bush is the biggest spender in the history of the Oval Office. Spending is being increased, not cut. And it's not likely to ever happen. The Democrats like to tax and spend, the Republicans like to borrow and spend.
By the way, there is a way out of this. If we ditched the income tax altogether and instituted the FairTax, revenues would likely increase because the economy would be unshackled and no one could avoid paying it.

Speaker of the House
Dennis Hastert says
the real agenda of the Democrats in the Tom DeLay case is that they're
protecting their own.
The plot thickens.
Democratic Party Chairman
Howard Dean did a little routine where
he pretended to be a drug-snorting Rush Limbaugh.
That's nice...the Democrats have really found their man.
Retiring Republican
Congressman Henry Hyde says that the impeachment of Bill Clinton was payback for
the impeachment of Richard Nixon....or did he really say that? Reporter
Andy Shaw quotes Hyde as saying "I can't say it wasn't."
By the way, you do know that Richard Nixon wasn't impeached, don't you?
Tony Blair is expected to be re-elected to a third term,
despite the goings-on in Iraq. So much for the left's prediction that he would
go down over the missing stockpiles of WMD.
The White House seems to
be coming around on the future of Kofi Annan,
with a spokesman saying Kofi wasn't exonerated by the Oil-For-Food report and
that his future is uncertain.
Time for Mr. Annan to step aside.
Ohio Senator George
Voinovich's weak knees over confirming John Bolton won't be forgotten. Kimberly
Fletcher says Voinovich has obstructed the will of the people.
Part of the reason the
Bolton nomination is being held up looks like
former Secretary of State Colin Powell doesn't seem to think much of the man.
That's not exactly towing the line for his former boss, is it?
So Democrats are up in
arms about the possibility that Republicans might eliminate all filibusters.
Did you know that in 1995, 19 Democrats voted to do just that? Sean
Rushton explains.
What do conservatives
stand for? Is it lower taxes and smaller government? Former
Speaker of the House says the whole conservative movement stands at a
crossroads.
The Democrats are poor
losers in their opposition of the rules change eliminating the filibuster....but
David Limbaugh also says the Republicans are even poorer winners.
Interesting observation.
Why do the Democrats hate
John Bolton? Mona
Charen says it's because he has something that seems to be lacking
in Washington, as well as at the United Nations: it's called common sense. |
