Does anybody like having their bags searched? Nope. Is it a hassle? Absolutely. And so yesterday, the New York Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit to stop it. Their contention is that the policy violates the Constitution's prohibition against unlawful search and seizure. The New York subways are public transportation. They are owned by the people of New York. The people of New York have every right to set standards for those who want to ride, and those standards can be that the rider must submit to a search of all bags before entering. It's the height of absurdity to suggest that it is somehow a violation of civil rights to have your bag searched before you enter public transportation ---- especially when each and every one of us, including the members of the ACLU --- know that there are people out there who want to put bombs into bags and carry them onto our public transportation systems. Perhaps at this point we can say that there's reason to suggest that the ACLU just isn't on our side in the War on Terror. I don't throw around the "anti-American" label as some do, but when you file a lawsuit to prevent law enforcement from searching bags when we all know that those bags may contain bombs .... well, you're going to create some doubts. Right now I'm wondering just who's side the ACLU is on. But back to this profiling thing. I used to say that
people will die because of political correctness. Well, it's probably safe
to say now that people have died. Mayor Bloomberg's position defies
logic. What
is so hard about actually pursuing terrorism suspects based on a description of
that suspect? We know what they look like. Every terrorist in recent years
that has attacked America and killed Americans has been of Middle Eastern
descent. Why then are we bothering searching little old ladies? Because it's
politically correct, that's why. And in the year 2005, as we continue fighting
World War IV, political correctness has deadly consequences.
Yesterday a Jewish terrorist opened fire on a bus full of Arabs in Gaza. He killed four Arabs before a crowd grabbed him and lynched him. First --- no problem whatsoever that the Arabs lynched this goon. That's what he deserved. I do have a problem with these so-called "Palestinians" expressing such outrage over this attack. Why is it so fine when they kill Jews in terrorists attacks, and only an outrage when a radical Jew kills Arabs? Just wondering.
And with that, Novak
got up, yanked off the microphone, threw it down and walked off the set. CNN
has told him to take a little time off. It's kind of interesting to watch the
video (see the reading assignments if you missed it) and see how Carville and
the moderator just carried on as if what had happened didn't happen at all.
The New York Times is trying to find a way to un-seal the adoption records for Supreme Court nominee's John Roberts two children. Why? Of what possible relevance would those adoption records be? Here are a few suggestions. The Times wants to show that Roberts moved ahead of other deserving parents in the baby line. Or maybe the Times wants to show that Roberts paid for a baby ... paid some woman to have a baby for him and his wife. Maybe the Times can use this to promote the idea that Roberts is anti-abortion. Figure it our for yourself ... and then ask yourself if the Times would be trying to open these records if the nominee was a liberal.
Congressman John Linder and I attended our first book signing for The FairTax Book at the Barnes & Noble in the Buckhead district of Atlanta. The crowd started gathering two hours before the signing ... and needless to say, the evening was a huge success. Today we have a FairTax rally immediately following the program in the Atlanta suburb of Marietta. It was interesting to see so many young people in line buying the book, and it was also interesting to note that about one-third of the people had purchased more than one book. Many were bought to be sent to relatives ... and many are on the way to elected officials. One lady mentioned that while President Bush was visiting Atlanta a few weeks ago she managed to get a tour of Air Force One. There, on the president's desk, was a copy of The FairTax Book. Now ... wonder if he's actually read it? Wouldn't it be nice if he would make a walk to Marine One with a copy in his hand? By the way ... a Marine came through the line, just four days back from Iraq. I asked him what we could be doing over there that we're not doing. His answer was immediate: "Keep the media out." He told us that what he sees on television here bears no real resemblance to what is actually going on over there. Interesting. We will be posting some pictures from Neal's book signings. If you took some you'd like to share, email them to boortzwebwench@gmail.com. Please include when & where and your name or nick if you want credit. As of this morning there are about 120 reviews of The FairTax Book on Amazon.com. Here are just a few: Some Positive Reviews
And Some People Who Haven't Read The Book
Well, obliviously this reviewer didn't read the book. This 30% bit is fully addressed in the book, and you will quickly learn that a $1.00 item will still cost about $1.00 after the FairTax with the tax included in the price! It seems that some people just insist on slamming the FairTax plan, no matter what the facts are.
For those of you who don't know the story: Yesterday on the show we got a phone call from Phillip. Phillip, it turns out, is Phillip Hurst, a behavioral psychologist who co-wrote the novel "Tarnished." It seems he had a book signing for his book at a Barnes & Noble on Wednesday night, and was dismayed to find that he sat there while watching people line up to buy one, two, three copies of The FairTax Book. While Phillip was on the line we checked the status of his book on Amazon.com. He ranked 518,600. So ... being the charitable type of person that I am ... I told Phillip that we were going to post a link to his book page on Amazon.com and try to help him sell a few books. OK ... so how did it work. By the end of the program yesterday Tarnished was ranked in the 200s on Amazon.com. Then ... Amazon ran out of books. This morning Amazon is referring inquiries to other sources with books to sell. So ... maybe Phillip feels a bit better about his experience on Wednesday. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Here's to good, clean...well, not clean, but fun anyway. The Redneck Scrap Book goes on. READING ASSIGNMENTS Ever been fired? Canned? Axed? Here's your website. Democratic
presidential candidate
Evan Bayh says Democrats lack credibility on national security issues.
At least somebody gets it.
Heather's Reading Assignments The French may be exploring new ways of controlling population. Doubtful, but it is still disturbing. Fermented grapes, hungry birds, and you think it's hard to walk drunk? Try flying or sitting on a branch. It can rain hail, it can rain frogs, every 8 years it can rain poop . Last week I mentioned and yesterday Brian told you more about Air America taking money from the Boys and Girls Club. But others are talking about the same issue and why only conservative commentaries and AM radio talking about it? Edward Morrissey includes all 12 articles and sure enough, the left still isn't talking about it. [It's only fair to give Air America's response --ww] Mooreon Alert: love, peace and mercury-less fish... Whatever happened to roasting marshmallows? She is 6'7" and has no name. Also, her mom isn't sure of how to feed her. | ||
