Neal's Book Tour Schedule | target="_blank">amazon.com reviews
QUICK. SAD AND QUICK
It doesn't seem that long ago that we were reading that Peter Jennings had
lung cancer. He took a leave from ABC's World News Tonight just four months
ago. Many of us were wondering how his treatment was going. Now we know.
Peter Jennings passed away last night. In their coverage this morning ABC
mentioned that Peter Jennings had been a smoker for most of his adult life. OK
... I know I'm going to catch email hell about this, but now is as good a time
as any to say this. You smokers -- you drug addicts out there -- don't forget
to light up today on your way to work. After all, there's nothing quite like
driving to work in that fresh morning air while filing your lungs with smoke.
And when you and your smoking colleagues leave the office five times today to
meet in your little leper colony outside to do your favorite drug, why don't you
strike up a little conversation about Peter Jennings? Diagnosis to dead in four
months. Just what are you going to be doing four months from now?
THE DUKES OF HAZARD
Looks like the movie led the box office over the weekend. Grossed over $30
million. Remember Cooter? That's Ben Jones, big time liberal Democrat. He told
folks not to go see the movie. Looks like his influence is pretty much holding
steady. THE FAIRTAX PLAN
Still number one non-fiction on Amazon.com. Over 700 books sold at the book
signing on Saturday afternoon. We're also getting reports of book stores across
the nation that have sold out and are awaiting a re-stocking. Gratifying
stuff. Here are a few of the emails that we received over the weekend; just a
sampling out of hundreds: - I should have ordered the book when you first suggested we do so, but we
are full time travelers and only get our mail every 6 to 8 weeks. I thought
I would just go to a book store and pick one up when they were released. So,
we drove 50 miles into town today, stopped at Barnes and Noble, Walden and
Borders. Got the same answer from every store, Nope, Sold out!! They all
said the same thing, you want us to ADD your name to the list and we will
call ya when they come in?? Two of the clerks said Man, wish someone would
have ordered more when they had the chance, hate to loose a sale. So Mr.
Boortz, you were right again, I should have just ordered when you told us
to. Stacey
- Hi Neal, bought the Fair Tax book on Wed. started to read it when my
husband Tom, had the gall to ask if he could take it with him on his flight
to CA. After giving him the evil eye he called when he got to the airport
to inform me that he's there and that he just bought the book for himself.
He's a smart man! chuckle-chuckle. Denise.
- Just wanted to let you know that the retail giant that is known in the
business world for its genius restocking methods, Wal-Mart, is sold out of
your book. It looks like they underestimated how much Americans would want
this book. I'm almost done reading it and I have to say, bravo and well
done. Elliot
Then, of course, we have the very few naysaysers out there like Chuck
Carson. Here's one line from his review at Amazon.com: "... and to try to
pass off the rate as 23% when $100 worth of groceries would cost $30 more is
just deception." So, there you go. Another reviewer who has either (a) not
read the book, or (b) has made a conscious decision to intentionally
misrepresent the FairTax. The truth is, of course, that groceries that cost $100
before the fair tax would pretty much cost the same $100 after the fair tax, the
big difference being that the federal government is leaving 100% of you paycheck
alone and is handing you back the national sales tax you pay up to the poverty
level every month. Finally,
here's a link to an on-line column extolling the virtues of The FairTax from
a California website written by a Texas businessman. Word seems to be getting
around. We're heading out today for Tampa, Florida. Won't be back to home base until
one week from Wednesday. In the meantime we'll hit nine different cities to
sign copies of The FairTax Book ... and to do our broadcast from our affiliate
stations. By Wednesday of this week we'll have some idea as to how the first
week's sales went. For now ... I gotta pack. The FairTax Book Tour Gallery - Found
some from the rally in my inbox this morning. Those will be up later today. -ww
SOLDIER'S MOM IN CRAWFORD
It's hard to even begin to understand a mother's grief at losing a child. When
a parent loses a son or daughter in a war, you fully expect that parent to lash
out at the Military, the government or the administration. In other words, you
cut them some slack..give them some leeway. After all, their family member paid
the ultimate price.
But sometimes the actions of a grieving parent graduate to the level of
political action. The statements and charges become more and more outrageous,
and it's time to respond to it. We now have one such case involving Cindy
Sheehan. She is
camped out down in Crawford, Texas outside George Bush's
ranch. She is demanding to speak to the president. Her son, Army Spc. Casey
Sheehan, was killed last year in Iraq while fighting Islamic terrorists.
So what are her demands? Quoting Sheehan: "I want to ask the president, why did
he kill my son?" This, of course, is extremely ridiculous, and is doing nothing
more than trivializing her son's service. It's one thing to go down to
Crawford, set up a protest and demand answers or whatever...but to accuse Bush
of murdering her son? That's just a bit over the top there, Mrs. Sheehan.
She also has started an organization, called the
Gold Star Families for Peace,
which is, among other things, demanding that George Bush send his daughters to
Iraq if the cause is so noble. This ignores a few things that Mrs. Sheehan may
just need a bit of reminding about. We have an all-volunteer Military. Her son
made the choice to enlist in the Army. If he didn't want the possibility of
going to war, he shouldn't have signed up. It is a risk people take. Sure, in
peacetime, you get to sign up, be stationed somewhere and have your college paid
for, but not in war.
However, President Bush, ever the class act, sent his White House deputy chief
of staff and National Security Adviser out to talk to Sheehan. They met with
her for 45 minutes. They explained that her son died for a noble cause and that
the best way to honor his memory would be to complete the mission.
She isn't budging until she gets to meet with Bush. Better stock up on bottled
water...it's supposed to be in the mid-to-upper 90's in Crawford all week.
RAISING THE RUSSIAN SUB
Isn't it quite interesting that Russia....a nation that we have locked horns
with on certain issues recently and a country that still supports certain
terrorist regimes around the world, picks up the phone and calls us when they
get into a pinch? And once again, the evil, capitalistic United States of
America answers that call, springing into action to provide whatever help is
necessary. Free of charge, of course.
In the case of those
7 soldiers trapped in that sub hundreds of feet underwater,
they surely would have died. Were it not for the British, who got there first,
and their equipment that freed the sub, Vladmir Putin would have had another
submarine controversy on his hands. Quite an embarrassment for a nation that
once prided itself on its vast military apparatus.
Countries like Russia talk a lot of trash...and oppose us on things like the
Iraq war, but when they get in a bind...they do what everyone else does: call
America. Perhaps we should start charging.
TERROR ATTACKS IN THE U.S.
There is news today that the
United States Military has drafted its first-ever
war plans for directing a response to another terrorist attack against this
country. What does this mean for you and me? This means the government thinks
we're going to be hit again, that's what.
Of course, it is the Military's job to plan for each and every scenario. It's
been said that there is probably a plan sitting on a shelf at the Pentagon to
invade Canada. But think for just a minute about another terrorist strike in
the United States. A rash of suicide bombings in crowded areas, a biological or
chemical weapon released into the air, water or food supply or a nuclear bomb.
Think about that, then consider the War On Terror.
Would it not be to our advantage to capture or kill the people who would do that
to us before they come here? Isn't it better to mow down the insurgents in Iraq
before they can build a training base and recruit more jihadists to come and
kill Americans?
There will probably be more Islamic terrorist attacks in the United States...but
the record since 9/11 shows that the current policy of fighting terrorism abroad
is working. But not if the appeasers win out and we wind up cutting and running
in Iraq. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Even redneck ladies might like to see some hot male strippers. Unfortunately,
they might have to settle
for this. Oh, the Redneck Scrap Book
will never end.
READING ASSIGNMENTS
Journalists and politicians
continue to react to the death of Peter Jennings, whose life was taken at
the too-young age of 67 by the poison addiction of cigarette smoking.
The government in the UK has decided
it's tired of Muslim clerics preaching hate. The penalty? How about
treason? That should shut them up.
Professor Mike Adams
takes a look at his first experiment in capitalism some 16 years ago, and
describes how it works for others.
Uh oh....New
York Attorney General Elliot Spitzer is probing the loan Air America took
from the taxpayer-funded Boys and Girls Club. Better hurry up and cash all the
checks, Al.
So what are the Islamic thugs down at Guantanamo Bay really reading in their
spare time?
No, not the Koran...it's the new Harry Potter book. Perhaps we should send
them the Fairtax book.
Should the United States dump 'The War On Terror,' as some Military leaders seem
to suggest?
Jack Kelly says no way...changing the name of the war is a mistake.
Columnist Mark Steyn looks at a ridiculous proposal by a teacher's union in
Britain to change the concept of failing to something called "deferred
success."
He says you could apply that label to Howard Dean and the Democratic Party.
Was the United States right to drop nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
Victor Davis Hanson says those who say no are ignoring the reality of the
situation 60 years ago.
Those who say Truman shouldn't have dropped the bomb are buying into revised
history and anti-Americanism.
Jeff Jacoby looks at once such instance involving the Enola Gay display at
the Smithsonian.
The tragic deaths of all those Marines last week in Ohio has given the anti-war
leftists in the mainstream media all they need to push their agenda.
The Media Research Center reports.
In Robert Novak's latest column, he talks about fighting the drug war in
Colombia, but not a word about his little temper tantrum last week. Perhaps in
next week's column. Heather's Reading Assignments

Shuttle Discovery's reentry plans for Monday. [delayed]I didn't realize outdoor advertising could
have such hateful bias... Straight from
Hell's Kitchen. These
art thieves aren't very happy today.
Just another excuse they can get away with , maybe they are just
hallucinating. This is what can happen when you play with...
rather IN your food.
