This morning Neal is broadcasting from WAPI in Birmingham, AL. Thursday & Friday he'll be back in Atlanta for the News/Talk 750 WSB Care-A-Thon benefiting the AFLAC Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Service of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. This morning Neal caught a few extra zzzzzs so the notes are entirely the product of his staff. He claims no responsibility. We've got pics up to Greensboro in the tour gallery. More coming!
Venezuela is run by a thug known as Hugo Chavez, a communist. Today, he is threatening to cut off the flow of oil to the United States. That country is the fourth-largest provider of oil. If Chavez cuts us off, we're going to pay more at the pump. Politicians know this, so they will try and appease Venezuela, despite it not being in our national security interests to do so. The way to reduce our dependence on foreign oil is not with hybrid cars the size of a Budweiser can...it's with our own drilling and exploration. Oh, and for crying out loud, we need to start building new refineries. Pronto. When George Bush announced on national television that D.C. Circuit Judge John Roberts would be his pick for his first Supreme Court vacancy, the left was elated. Groups like NARAL and Moveon.org were gearing up to spend tons of money in opposition. Only it hasn't worked out that way. It turns out John Roberts is a pretty decent judge. Not part of the radical right. His record on the bench is a bit thin, so the fringe groups don't have much to go on. The abortion group NARAL ran an ad that was an outright fabrication. Despite CNN's willingness to air the ad, it was pulled and the person responsible for its airing at NARAL got the boot. Another blow to the anti-Roberts brigades. Then this week comes news that Democrats are rolling over on Roberts. They see him cruising through the Senate without a fight, so they'll keep their powder dry on this one and let it ride. Got to pick your battles, you know. Well, as you might expect, this isn't going over too well with the fringe wackos. They're mad at the Democrats in the Senate. The extreme left runs the party these days, and they expected more Bush-bashing. So now Teddy Kennedy and Pat Leahy are stepping up to reassure the left that they're going to oppose Roberts. They're seeking to appease the liberal extremists that now run their party. They're publicly whining about papers that have been released from when Roberts was a lawyer in the Bush Sr. and Reagan White Houses. Never mind that the confirmation hearings haven't even begun. And Democrats talk about the right wing in the Republican party. What about the left wing who runs theirs? The Washington Post, which had been scheduled to participate in an event organized by the Department of Defense to commemorate 9/11 is pulling out. They were going to provide free advertising for such event. So why have they canceled? They bowed to critics who said that being involved in such an event would mean the newspaper was endorsing the war and that would compromise its journalistic integrity. That's right....they actually said that and that's why the Post isn't participating. Check out this quote from Rick Ehrmann, a bedwetting leftist from the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild: "The Post has a code of conduct that says employees should avoid a conflict of interest or the appearance of a conflict of interest. In this case The Post was sponsoring the Pentagon's Freedom Walk, which ties the attack on Sept. 11 to the Iraq war, and of course, The Post's reporters have proven ... that there is no connection between the two, that that link is false." Perhaps Mr. Ehrmann would be willing to put down his Michael Moore talking points long enough to admit he's wrong. But that's not the issue. So what's the real agenda here? The Washington Post is not participating because doing so would contradict their political agenda. As an anti-American, Bush-bashing newspaper, they don't want to be seen rubbing elbows with the evil Pentagon. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Flatscreen TVs aren't just for rich, fancy folk. More fun in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS Heather's Reading Assignments: There is a direct correlation to global warming and self-worth , as reported by Spengler. Love in a drive-thru window, livin' it up when I'm slowin down; Love in a drive-thru window, Lovin' it up till I hit the ground. Other than the fact that Sheehan doesn't really think Bush should meet with her (nearly a 1/4th of the page down), now the war-protesters can't park within a 1/4th of a mile from the Crawford ranch, but now they can all hang out on a nearby lawn. Just another person who wants publicity... " Hey Ma! Look at me, my lawn is being inhabited by anti-Americans." Oh, his neighbors are going to LOVE him! Why do some people STILL insist that no chemical weapons were found? Oh yeah, media bias. Got it. | ||
WHAT THE HECK ARE THOSE POINTY HAND THINGS? These are links to each individual story on the Nuze, p-links for the geeks out there. Plus, they work today and they'll work tomorrow. Now you can easily discuss/debate/rip apart the Nuze without worrying about the links going bad. Enjoy! BOORTZ BLAST NEWSLETTER
