CARE-A-THON Today and tomorrow, The Neal Boortz Show is broadcasting live from the AFLAC Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Service of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta for News/Talk 750 WSB's annual Care-A-Thon. The word came in yesterday afternoon. The FairTax Book will remain No. 1 on the New York Times Bestseller's List for the second week in a row. Our editor at Regan Books told us yesterday afternoon that it is much harder to make this list the second week than it is the first. Needless to say, we're excited and gratified. Interview requests for Congressman Linder and myself are pouring in, and the crowds at the book signings remain strong. Our greatest hope is that the book generates a buzz and momentum of its own. Across the country people who have never heard of The FairTax before are learning that it is possible to get rid of all income and payroll taxes and replace those taxes with a one-time tax on consumption at the retail level. These people are learning that:
I was discussing the book with some friends last night. I told them that over the past ten or so days I think that I have signed about 8,000 copies of the book at various book signings. Since many people buy multiple copies of the book, I would guess that I've seen about 6,500 people during that time. So .. how many people had something negative to say? Two. That's it. Just two. One man at Ft. Bragg came through the line twice to have two books signed (he went and bought an extra copy) all the while grumbling that we didn't include enough of the research in the book. Well, there's a reason for that. You can find the research at the FairTax website. Knock yourself out, pal. One other man stood in front of the table and demanded an opportunity to point out all of the typos he had found. We politely declined his incredible offer. But that's it. Two complaints. On the other hand, we've received hundreds of comments from people who doubted whether or not this idea could work ... until they read the book. Well, that's what we were after. Again ... thanks so much for another week at No. 1! The FairTax is becoming an idea that can't be ignored.
So, Cindy Sheehan wanted to take her 15 minutes of fame for everything it's worth. That's fine. The trouble is that the louder you become, the more people start paying attention to you ... and the more they start looking in to other things you've said. Now we're starting to learn a bit more about Jihad Cindy. Wait a minute. "Jihad Cindy?" Sorry, but yes. This woman has become one of the best friends the Islamic Jihadists have out there. Anyway ... we now know a bit more about Cindy's past utterances. She was speaking at an anti-war rally at San Francisco State University earlier this year. At that rally she said that George W. Bush was "the biggest terrorist in the world." She also said that Bush was "waging a nuclear war in Iraq," and that Iraq "is contaminated, and will be contaminated for practically eternity now." Then came the potty mouth. Try this from Cindy Sheehan: "They're a bunch of f-ing hypocrites, and we need to, we just need to rise up." Want more from Cindy? Well the Drudge Report has more ... here you go:
It is becoming increasingly clear that Cindy Sheehan is deranged. The fact that she lost her son in Iraq may have been a contributing factor, but it does not mitigate the fact that she is a certified lunatic. She has now become a tool of not just one, but several movements. Among them the "I hate Bush because of 2000" crowd, both anti-war crowds, that connected with tired old socialists and communists, and that associated with people who lack the understanding that it is sometimes necessary to fight to preserve freedom and your way of life; the America haters who want to see this country weakened; and those who openly support the goals of the Islamic jihadists. I wonder if NBC will cover the previous utterances of this whack-job. Probably not. As screwed up as she is, she fits the template. Cindy Sheehan is a story that can be hammered to embarrass and harass Bush. That makes it eminently newsworthy.
REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Rednecks are pioneers in recycling. How often have we had examples of reusing something that might otherwise have been thrown away? The Redneck Scrap Book shows no signs of letting up. I'm so sorry. READING ASSIGNMENTS The next plausible way to avoid being screened: Fly nude. It sure makes hiding those box openers harder. Some more sarin and mustard gas info. Yes, it is being found in Iraq. But is it considered a weapon of mass destruction? Tell me what you think. 10K on 'simple' clothes for him is excessive enough, don't you think. All I can say is: THANK GOD it's not a girl. Don't blame the beer:
Irritable Male Syndrome. From the 'One That Got Away' ( and took the fisherman with him) files. | ||
WHAT THE HECK ARE THOSE POINTY HAND THINGS? These are links to each individual story on the Nuze, p-links for the geeks out there. Plus, they work today and they'll work tomorrow. Now you can easily discuss/debate/rip apart the Nuze without worrying about the links going bad. Enjoy! BOORTZ BLAST NEWSLETTER
