SIGNING TONIGHT IN AUSTIN, TEXAS!

I'll be signing copies of The FairTax Book at the Book People book store located at 603 North Lamar at 7:00!  Sure would be nice to see some Aggies show up.  I'll be in the belly of the Teasip beast here.

WHY ALL THE ATTENTION

So why is all of this attention being paid to Pat Robertson's comment that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez should be assassinated?  Story after story, newscast after newscast, it's being broadcast as if what Pat Robertson says actually means anything.  So why all the coverage?

Come on, folks.  This one is easy.  The media takes a crackpot like Pat Robertson and uses him to paint all Republicans and Bush supporters as nut jobs ready to form assassination squads to send out around the world to whack leaders we don't like.  This story fits the media template.  Robertson is a Bush supporter.  The story, therefore, damages Bush.  This means the story gets pushed.    Never mind that Robertson is not a spokesperson for any of those organizations and has nothing to do with policy.  Doesn't matter. It's all about following the Bush-bashing template.

So now we get to hear about this over and over again, as if it actually matters. Donald Rumsfeld's response was perfect...private citizens say things all the time.  Once again, the leftist tilt of the mainstream media rears it's ugly head.  It's worth noting that when certain fringe wacko liberals were calling for the assassination of George Bush, the press was strangely silent.

Oh and somebody actually went down to Venezuela and got a reaction from Hugo Chavez.  He called Pat Robertson a terrorist.  It really must be a slow news week.  Perhaps the media could regale us with the other thoughts of Pat Robertson.

HERE SHE COMES AGAIN

Well, Cindy Sheehan is headed back to Crawford, Texas, and the media is in an absolute frenzy.  Remember .. this is the woman who says that Bush is waging a nuclear war in Iraq and that President Bush is the world's biggest terrorist.  She hates George Bush ... this means that the media loves Cindy Sheehan.

Here's another Cindy Sheehan comment to ponder.  It's one the mainstream media has ignored.   Speaking earlier this month to a reporter for CBS News, she actually called the Islamic terrorists "freedom fighters."  That's right. the very ones that killed her son.  Why don't we hear more about this?  Because it would undermine her credibility.

So now Cindy is headed back to Crawford, to spew more nonsense for days and days, all of which will be picked up by the mainstream media.  I wonder why she came back?  Perhaps it was the promise of more Joan Baez concerts.  Sheehan has become nothing more than a willing marionette for the left.  That makes her a media hero.

CONNECTED TO POLITICS?

Here's another story making the rounds that makes absolutely no sense at all.  It involves, of all things, military graves.  You see, for the past several years, the headstones (which taxpayers correctly pay for) give the name of the operation for which the fallen soldier gave their life for.

So, for instance, those who perished in Iraq would have a gravestone that said "Operation Iraqi Freedom" on it.  Believe it or not, some people are complaining.  They think having the name of the operation on the headstone is a Pentagon slogan...like some sort of propaganda.  How about the grave markers that say which world war a veteran died in?  Should they just list the country where they were killed?

Some people have way too much time on their hands.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Congratulations to Monica Kaufman for 30 years at WSB-TV.  Be sure to check out all 30 years' worth of hairstyles.

CNN's president is speaking out against Fox News for wasting so much time on the Natalee Holloway story.  Fox's response? Our ratings are better than your ratings.

Fresh off his appearance on the Boortz show, Michael Graham has a new gig at a radio station in Los Angeles. That was quick! Here's his column about the whole ordeal.

The media is reporting that Michael Graham said only that "Islam is a terror organization."  He said it, but Brent Bozell tells us that there is more to the story.

Michael Moore has enrolled in a fat farm in an effort to lose weight. Best of luck, Mike...although $3,800 a week is a bit steep just for a diet.

Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel came out in support of the war, and so naturally the media has come out in support of Chuck Hagel.  The Media Research Center reports.

In part two of his series about the supposed oil crisis, Thomas Sowell continues to point out that there really isn't a problem.  For instance, did you know that the world is not running out of oil?

Walter E. Williams is questioning whether or not it's wise for the United States to overreact with security measures in the face of terrorism. He says historically, it wasn't always so.

Currently there is a war being waged in the University of North Carolina university system.  You know that that means....time for Professor Mike Adams to weigh in.

The Bush administration supports racial profiling....in the form of awarding contracts to minority firms. However, as Michelle Malkin points out, the Bush administration forbids racial profiling when it might be used to save lives.

Intern Heather's Reading Assignments:

See? You really were safer in Gitmo ! The article states that it will not release Mr. Habib's name and would seek public help to find his attackers.

Big brother either isn't really watching you or he is a bad practical joker!

House breaking your husband just got easier! Oh yeah, maybe this is why I haven't gotten married. I'm a cat person.

What were they thinking? As the score stands now- Lions:1 Tourists:0

Heaven forbid a nun have fun dancing , apparently.

It is the Piano Man !... Or he isn't. Or he is!... Or he isn't.

The Turkish President: First he said, "No opera or ballet." Then he tried to outlaw gold teeth and long hair... Now he is banning Ashley Simpson.
