THIS IS HOW THE "LOYAL" OPPOSITION THINKS

By now you must know that a group of so-called "peacemakers" have been abducted by Islamic terrorists in Iraq.  The abducted "peacemakers" were part of a group called Christian Peacemaker Teams.  Their own website makes it clear that they are a hard left-leaning organization. Now four of their members are being held by Islamic jihadists.

So ... are these peacemakers upset with the Islamic terrorists who have taken their  compatriots hostage?  Well, as a matter of fact, no ... they're not.  They're upset with the United States.  Islam has a definite and stated course of action when it comes to Christians (non-believers).  They are either to be converted, subjugated and taxed, or killed.  Well, these particular non-believers have now been captured and are being held hostage.  That would be the subjugation part.  Will they be killed?  Will they convert?  Of course it is possible they could be released if the Islamists determine that would be in the best interests of the jihad.  But the peacemakers don't seem to have any problem at all with the Islamic radicals who have captured them.  They're upset with .... why the United States, of course!  Here's a statement that the Christian Peacemaker Teams released:

"We are angry because what has happened to our teammates is the result of the actions of the US and UK governments due to the illegal attack on Iraq and the continuing occupation and oppression of its people."

Tell me, just how is one supposed to deal with or interact with intellect of this nature?  These are people who have stood by Palestinian terrorists and who condemn the oppression of the U.S. Border Patrol agents who try to keep our borders secure.  Now they're solidly on the side of the insurgency in Iraq.    This is the intellect of the left.  All that is bad that is happening in the Middle East, and in the world, is the fault of the evil United States.  Our attempts to bring the rule of law and a popularly elected government to the people of Iraq constitutes oppression and occupation.  Our attempts to secure our borders amount to nothing more than oppression of poor Mexicans.  Sure, these people have the right to be lunatics ... but where is it written that we have to treat them as worthy of serious consideration?  They're lunatics.  Let's recognize them as such.

BAD, BAD WAL-MART

OK, nobody's perfect, and I have my problems with Wal-Mart too.  I'm especially upset about their corporate culture that allows rampant use of eminent domain to acquire locations.  Wal-Mart has been under attack, though, not because of its eminent domain policies, but because it's been doing such a good job in the free marketplace.

Unions hate Wal-Mart, of course, because the Wal-Mart workforce isn't unionized.  The people who work at Wal-Mart actually believe that they're working for Wal-Mart.  They aren't operating under an allusion that they're working for a union!  Since this is an intolerable situation for the unions, Wal-Mart must be demonized!

Other retailers aren't happy with Wal-Mart either.  Wal-Mart is a clear low-price leader.  For other businesses to compete they have to either offer higher levels of service, better merchandise or lower prices, all of which would affect the bottom line.  So, if you can't compete --- demonize.  Hop on the union bandwagon and participate in the demonization of Wal-Mart.  These businesses know that if they can do anything to force Wal-Mart to increase its prices, like accepting an unionized workforce or adopting expanded worker benefits, it will help to level the competitive playing field.

Recently a "documentary" was released by Wal-Mart opponents which purported to show the negative impact that Wal-Mart is supposedly having on our country.  The documentary was full of distortions and lies.  In one particular instance a Northeast hardware was shown.  The owner was shutting down, and the blame was placed squarely on the new Wal-Mart in town.  The trouble here was that the hardware store was in the process of closing long before the arrival of Wal-Mart and the owner of that store has admitted that Wal-Mart had nothing to do with the closing.  In other words, the opponents of Wal-Mart lied to get their point across.  Surprise, surprise, surprise.

So .. has the campaign of demonization been working?  It would seem so.  A survey done by some anti-Wal-Mart group known as WakeUpWalMart.com has found that 56% of Americans say that Wal-Mart is bad for America.  Amazing.

If the unions and Wal-Mart competitors succeed in forcing Wal-Mart to increase its operating costs it will constitute a wage cut for every single American who relies on Wal-Mart for huge savings on the items they need in their daily lives.

Here's a fun, thinly veiled stab at Wal-Mart from the makers of This Land Is Your Land. (Flash cartoon)

TELL ME NOW HOW OBJECTIVE THE MEDIA IS

Two days ago Senator Joe Lieberman held a press conference and told of his recent trip to Iraq.  What did he say? He said that "substantial progress has been made."  This, of course, is at odds with the statements made by John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and other prominent Democrats.  So .... did the New York Times carry the story in any prominent location?  The Washington Post?  What, are you kidding?  How about the alphabets ... CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC.  Did you see this on any of their nightly newscasts?  Yeah ... tell me about it

BASHING THE U.S. ARMY

When Democrat John Murtha called for an unconditional surrender to the Islamic terrorists on the main battlefield in the War On Terror, he was entitled to his opinion.  Pursuing a policy such as that would be a complete disaster, but he said what he said.  It looks like the majority of Democrats, at least in the House, also want to throw in the towel.

Well, yesterday, Murtha was at it again.  Speaking to a group in his district in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, Murtha said that troops will leave Iraq in the next year because the Army is "broken, worn out and living hand to mouth."  Such a vote of confidence!

So not only does Murtha want to admit defeat and leave the battlefield, now he wants to say that the troops will be leaving because they aren't up to the task.  If you read between the lines, Congressman Al-Murtha is saying the war is lost because the troops have failed.

Consider for a moment what Murtha's comments might mean to the Islamic insurgency and Islamic terrorist factions around the world.  The terrorists have been waging a campaign against American troops with roadside and car bombs.  They will not confront our troops head-on.  There have been no major battles, only minor skirmishes.  Now Congressman Murtha has told the insurgents -- told the terrorists -- told Al Qaeda --- told the world that our American troops are worn out; worn out by roadside bombs.  They're living hand-to-mouth, all because of this incredibly effective insurgency campaign!  In other words, Murtha is telling all of those who might want us dead that our troops can't even handle a war without battles, a war without direct engagement.  We can't even handle suicide bombers and roadside explosives!  Way to go, Congressman Murtha.

He said he made a mistake when he voted for the war.  Now that the going has gotten tough, he wants to give up. It's a good thing Murtha wasn't in Congress when some of our other wars were being fought. We wouldn't have made it past the first 3 years.   But then Murtha criticized the president some more...saying that "Staying the course is not a policy."  Huh?

Apparently not only is cutting and running the only way to go, actually staying and fighting is not even a viable alternative.  With guys like Murtha running the show, we're never going to win the War On Terror.  Hopefully people won't keep listening to this nonsense.

BUSH NUMBERS UP

It looks like George Bush's campaign to come out swinging against the Democrats is starting to have an effect.  After the president let the attacks on his administration go unanswered for months....he finally fought back, and the polls are starting to go his way...a little.

According to a new Fox News/Opinion Dynamics Poll (which means the questions weren't tilted to the left,) the president's approval rating is back up to 42 percent.  As far as Americans who believe the administration manipulated intelligence...it's half and half.  Half think he did the best he could and half think he intentionally misled the country.

Not bad, when you consider that things are supposedly going so awful in Iraq.  But the left shot themselves in the foot when they called for a total pull-out.  Anyone with a single functioning brain cell knows that doing that would make everything a whole lot worse than it is now.

So perhaps there is hope.  If the administration will continue to promote what is going right in Iraq...and show that there is good news, maybe enough people will see through the doom and gloom so we can get the job done and get out of there...the right way.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

The economy is, for lack of a better word, booming.  With every bit of good economic news that comes along the left starts moaning louder and louder.  Why won't the left admit that the economic news is good?  Do you think it would be this way if a Democrat was in the White House?

Pandora's box has been opened .... in Iraq.  Freedom has sprung free. Read this to see what we have accomplished among the people of the Middle East.  Wouldn't it be wonderful of Americans could experience a rebirth of their love of freedom!

The spending orgy continues in Washington.  Your children will foot the bill.

Here's Ann Coulter.  Need I say more?

While everybody is obsessing about Iraq, Charles Krauthammer reports that something is slowly taking place....peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians.  He explains the significant progress there.

Iraq may be a bit of a mess, but the Coalition has accomplished the single greatest good that will ultimately prevail: the unleashing of freedom. Gerard Baker has more.

Talk radio, the Internet and Fox News may be on the rise, but Fred Barnes writes that the mainstream media still has the power.  There are still many more of them than there are of us.

Is every president doomed to a scandal-ridden second term?  That's what the media would have us believe, but Caspar Weinberger tells us that there have been many good second terms.

With President Bush finally hitting back over Iraq, David Limbaugh wonders if Democrats are finally on the ropes. He says the left is being exposed for having no real alternative ideas for anything.

Everyone is focusing on John Murtha's call to withdraw from Iraq, but there is one Democrat people should be paying attention to: Joe Liebermann.  Steve Muscatello has more.

The CIA is leaking information to embarrass the administration, and this time they've gone too far.  Mona Charen calls for an investigation of the intelligence agency.

According to Professor Mike Adams, those considering attending Carnegie Mellon may want to note an unexpected perk: x-rated movies being shown at the campus auditorium.  Imagine that!

This week, the House of Representatives unveiled their "Holiday Tree."  Jonah Goldberg reports on the outrage and gives some insight as to where it may have all began.

Is there anything substantive to President Bush's new proposal to crack down on illegal immigration?  Cal Thomas says much of it sounds good, so he puts it under the microscope.
