SORRY ... NO INTERNET It's amazing how we come to depend on the Internet.
This morning I had no Internet service at home ... so those 20 or so websites
that I peruse on a daily basis are thus far unexplored ... at least by me.
So I dashed off to the studios to see what I could accomplish before the
"On Air" light came on. There is one particular story that I was going to
look for this morning .... and will as soon as I get these brief notes posted.
It seems that some teacher in a government school decided that it would be a
good idea to assign to her class the task of writing letters calling for the end
of the war in Iraq. No letters calling for victory would be permitted.
The letter must call for an end. I saw this teacher on Fox News this
morning. She had that condescending smirk on her face --- the type you get
so often from a liberal experiencing the humiliation of having to defend their
actions in the arena of logic and fact. I'm sure you've seen that look on
some of your liberal "friends." It's as if they're thinking "I can't
believe I'm actually having to sit here and talk to this right-wing
Neanderthal." She must be an absolute delight in the classroom. Just
another story of your government schools at work. DEMOCRATS URGE DEFEAT
Democrats are
finally coming right out and saying exactly what they believe in the debate over
the war in Iraq. Yesterday, we heard from DNC Chairman Howard Dean. His
stunning statement: we are not going to win the war in Iraq. Dean joins the
John Murtha wing of his party which calls for the unconditional surrender of the
United States to Islamic terrorists in Iraq. Nice going. I'm sure the
terrorists are lifting a cut of goat's milk to Howard Dean today.
This goes beyond politics
and strays into the territory of the dangerously partisan. Right now there are
160,000 American troops in Iraq. They are there to fight a war that Congress
(including Democrats and Republicans) gave the president support to wage. In
just under 3 years, we have liberated Iraq, deposed the dictator there, held
elections and drawn up a Constitution. By any measure in the history of
warfare, Iraq is a success. In just nine days the Iraqi people will elect their
own leaders under their own constitution. Not bad, in spite of what the
New York Times and the Democrats want you to believe.
And what about
casualties? During the run-up to the war, there were retired generals on TV
saying the US faced tens of thousands of casualties in the Iraq war. Since
Baghdad fell, that number is a few thousand. Still way too many, but far short
of estimates. Despite the wishes of the Democrats, we are winning the war in
Iraq.
But Howard Dean wasn't
done there. He went on to compare Iraq to Vietnam, even though there is no
comparison. He then called for troops to be redeployed. Redeployed, in case
you don't know, means withdrawn from Iraq. Last time I checked, Howard
Dean wasn't a general in the U.S. Army. He should stick to politics and
medicine. Can you just imagine
how the Islamic terrorists and the insurgents must have felt when they heard
these words from the chairman of the Democratic Party? These insurgents
and terrorists have known for some time now that the Democrats were their
friends. Now how must they feel? Not only is the leader of the party
demanding withdrawal of American troops, but he's declaring the terrorists to be
the winners!
Is there some obscure
office at the Democratic National Headquarters where some of the more ardent
members of the pro-Saddam crowd are planning for the Democratic delegation to
head to Baghdad to celebrate the return to power of Saddam Hussein? IN
THE MEANTIME, THERE'S RAMSEY CLARK Anti-American, leftist
icon Ramsey Clark is now in charge of the defense of Saddam Hussein. Clark
is spouting the line that he's there to make sure that Saddam gets a fair trail.
Not so. Clark's true goal is to make sure that Saddam is not tried at all.
Lyndon Johnson's former Attorney General will work diligently day by day to make
sure that Saddam's trial is disrupted as often as possible. I wonder if
Ramsey is keeping in touch with Howard Dean as the rescue of Saddam continues
apace.
SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE
During his famous
testimony in front of the Senate after he came home from Vietnam, John Kerry
lied under oath and made all sorts of wild statements about atrocities he never
witnessed. Well, now he's doing it again. Sort of.
On CBS' 'Face The
Nation,' The Poodle was talking about the troops in Iraq. He was asked by Bob
Schieffer about the progress being made there. He once again reached into his
past, and pulled out the "atrocities" card:
" ... And there is no
reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of
Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women,
breaking sort of the customs of the - of - the historical customs, religious
customs."
Allrighty then! Perhaps
the Senator from France would like to offer up a little proof...and after that,
explain why he's bashing the United States Military on national television,
other than the fact that bashing our military is just something that seems to
come naturally to the Poodle. Just another day in the life of a Democrat.
Some things never change...maybe next sKerry will run down to the White House
fence and throw back his medals...or ribbons...or medals...or whatever.
EXONERATING DELAY
Although ignored by the
mainstream media, the exoneration of Tom DeLay is currently in motion. One of
the charges against him was dropped, but that's not how the media reported it.
The Republican-hating Associated Press ran the headline that "DeLay's Money
Laundering Charges Upheld." Par for the course when it comes to the leftist
media in this country.
This was the charge
originally filed by partisan Democratic hack Ronnie Earle. It was dropped. The
charges were dropped because the actions of which Delay were accused did not
even constitute a violation of the law! When the charge was first filed,
the media reported it with extreme urgency...but now that it's been dropped,
well it's not so interesting. But all of this begins the unraveling of Ronnie
Earle's political witch-hunt. So what's left?
We have the money
laundering charge. This was the charge that Earle got from that newly-empaneled
grand jury after he figured out he has screwed up with the money-laundering
indictment. That will get dropped soon too, because it is clear what DeLay
did in "laundering" money was done all the time and was legal when he did it.
When DeLay is fully exonerated, expect the media to stick to their Democratic
talking points and talk about the "ethical cloud" still hanging over DeLay.
It doesn't matter whether
or not the political prosecution of Tom DeLay is a success anyway. All Earle is
trying to do is run him out of office, which just might work.
READING ASSIGNMENTS
Saddam Hussein's
outbursts at his trial are not only causing Democrats to cheer....the
AP reports that some citizens in Iraq long for the days of Saddam.
By the way, a witness
testified at Saddam's trial yesterday that when he was taken to a jail,
he saw a human grinder with blood coming out of it and hair nearby.
What a way to go. And Hillary says women were better off under Saddam. Perhaps
they weren't put in the human grinder.
Finally, some people are
starting to say it.
Airport screeners should pay more attention to people who look and act like
terrorists, says Dennis Byrne.
He says that's not racist, but sensible. Right on.
The media and the
Democrats are up in arms over the memos Supreme Court nominee Judge Samuel Alito
wrote two decades ago.
David Limbaugh takes a look at the memos in question, and the Senate's response
so far.
Bill Murchison has an astute observation.
The anti-Christmas forces that are seeking to ban use of the phrase "Merry
Christmas" and have it replaced with "Happy Holidays" may have missed the mark.
It seems the word Holiday comes from the phrase "Holy Day." Oops.
It's a time-honored
tradition in Washington to soak the rich....after all they have all the money.
But as Bruce Bartlett points out, the rich are already paying most of the
taxes.
People are up in arms
because the Pentagon allegedly paid to have pro-U.S. propaganda put into Iraqi
newspapers. But what exactly is propaganda?
Cal Thomas says propaganda is in the eye of the beholder.
President Bush says
progress is being made in Iraq, so Michael
Barone tears apart the statistics and looks at the claims being made by the
White House. Warning
to liberals...this column may include good news about the war in Iraq, which
could be harmful to your political philosophy.
The economy is going like
gangbusters, yet all the press and the left can do is talk about the doom and
gloom of it all.
Jack Kemp has some numbers that prove otherwise,
and says he's never seen the naysayers this bad.
Debra Saunders looks at the medical marijuana debate...and
says that President Bush isn't following through on his stated position he gave
in the 2000 campaign. |
