THE
SWINE SPEAKS AGAIN
We
heard from that tired old Social Democrat Ted Kennedy again yesterday. Ted
Kennedy. The man who never had to struggle to pay a bill in his entire
life. The man who has never held an actual job. The man who wandered
up and down a deserted seaside road worrying about his political career while a
young woman (his girlfriend?) suffocated in the back seat of a car in just over
four feet of water. Yeah ... that Ted Kennedy. Well .. there he was
yesterday engaging in his usual hyper-leftist over-the-top liberalism. Mr.
Cradle-to-Grave government care. Mr. Womb-to-Tomb health care. The
man who thinks that America is great because of its government.
Kennedy was telling us (again) yesterday that Iraq is George Bush's
Vietnam. In making that statement there is not one bit of doubt in my mind
that Ted Kennedy gave virtual aid and comfort to Islamic insurgents in Iraq and
to Islamofascist terrorists around the world. There is no doubt in my mind
that Kennedy's statement yesterday so encouraged and emboldened the insurgency
in Iraq that American servicemen will die as a result. Ted Kennedy doesn't
seem to be satisfied with the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, he wants more .. or so
it seems. If Ted Kennedy cut a notch in his bed for every death of an
American serviceman or woman at the hands of an Iraqi insurgent encouraged by
his remarks, and by leftist opposition to the liberation of the people of Iraq,
he would be sleeping in sawdust. Iraq is Bush's Vietnam? We lost in Vietnam. We ran. Is that
the message Kennedy is sending here? Is that the solution he's calling for
again? The media took a U.S. victory, the Tet offensive, and turned it
into a rout of, not by the Americans. This actually seems to
be what Kennedy wants ... what a lot of Democrats want. I truly believe
that they actually want to see the United States leave Iraq with its tail
between its legs. The Iraqi people? Who cares? The future of
peace in the Middle East? Again, who cares? What is important to
Democrats here .. what is more important than establishing a beachhead of peace
in the most dangerous region of the world .. what is more important to the left
is disgracing George Bush and disgracing the Republican Party so that they can
return to their rightful position of dominance in Washington. Ted Kennedy
and his sickening sycophants are actually willing, if not eager, to endanger
every man woman and child in the United States -- to actually increase the
threat level of another and probably more horrible terrorist attack on our soil
-- if it means they can take back what they believe their birthright -- the
right to rule the roost in Washington. And why does Ted Kennedy matter anyway? Could there possibly be a more
despicable figure in American politics today? Ted Kennedy is a true symbol
of the weakness of a system that allows far too many people to vote. This
"one man, one vote" nonsense is a death sentence for freedom and for
America. UNGRATEFUL
NATION GIVES U.S. THE BOOT
After weeks of pouring millions in humanitarian and military aid into their
country, the government of Indonesia has decided in their infinite wisdom to
thank the United States. And how is the world's most populous Muslim
nation going to do this?
They're kicking us out. That's right...having used us for what they needed, the
America-haters are purging the great Satan. How nice. Vice President
Jusuf Kalla announced that all foreign troops must leave by the end of
March. The insults continued, as he said: "Three months are
enough. The sooner, the better. In the future, there will be no need for
the foreign military presence." Oh really?
We'll have to remember that the next time Indonesia needs something, or another
natural disaster occurs there. Already, in response, the United States has
scaled back plans to base Marines in that country and pulled out the aircraft
carrier U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln that was off its shores. Indonesia is
seeking debt relief...perhaps we should think twice before helping them any
further?
Thanks for nothing, Indonesia. We'll have to remember this one. And
we should also remember that no good deed goes unpunished.
Also ... remember that Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim nation.
Think about it. AN
INTERESTING THOUGHT
I
hosted Newt Gingrich on my show yesterday to talk about his new book "Winning
the Future." Now I can't remember if we had this conversation
during a commercial break, or during the actual show, but Newt came up with an
interesting idea regarding space exploration. I know I'm going to get this
wrong, but Newt said something to the effect that the United States would be
much further along in the exploration of space, and in the realization of
benefits from that exploration, if we were willing to assume the same level of
risk that NASCAR accepts. There would be no shortage of volunteers who
would be willing to accept that risk level in order to participate in space
exploration. Instead, we try to make space exploration as safe as walking
across your living room to pick up a magazine.
Interesting thought. Comments? WMD
SEARCH OVER
The Bush administration announced yesterday that the hunt for weapons of mass
destruction in Iraq is now officially over. The Iraq Survey
Group, the people in charge of looking for the weapons, have ended their
search. Since no massive stockpiles of WMD have been found, the media is
now portraying the entire war effort as an unjustified failure.
The left-wing "Bush lied, people died" crowd will now be out in full
force, trying to use this as some sort of justification for their views.
Some of the facts they will conveniently ignore:
- Regime change in Iraq was the stated goal of the Clinton administration,
they just never did it
- Congress, including John Kerry and many Democrats, voted for the invasion
or Iraq based on the same intelligence that Bush used
- Bush never lied, and there is not a single shred of evidence to support
this idea that he engaged in any attempt to mislead anybody
- Oh...and did you know that weapons of mass destruction have been found in
Iraq?
Something else....everybody assumes that because we didn't find the
stockpiles that we knew he had that they don't exist. They could have been
buried, moved to another country, or they could have been destroyed.
No way of knowing.
Even though the left will never admit it, by any measure the war in Iraq has
been an outstanding success. READING ASSIGNMENTS Now here's something that Ted Kennedy probably doesn't really want you to
read. Economically speaking, the
Middle Eastern region and Iraq is prospering in the wake of its
liberation. Peggy Noonan says that American
journalism will never be the same after the CBS-Dan Rather scandal. OK .. this is a bit gross, but you have to visit
this website (before the server gets slammed) to read an actual essay
offered by an actual student in an actual university. Hilarious. We're getting reports from some people that a virus/malware resides at this site. We use firefox and have experienced no problems. Use caution if you visit it with Internet Explorer. Read these excerpts (gathered by Jim Geraghty) of the CBS report on the
memogate scandal. Read these excerpts and ask yourself whether
or not you would ever want to work for Dan Rather. The answer, I'm
sure, would be a resounding "no." Those fired in the Rathergate forged documents scandal shouldn't be out of
work long. Ann
Coulter says another network or a journalism school should take them right
in. Donald Luskin says that the
Social Security crisis begins in five years. Are you ready?
Private
money is pouring in to pay for President Bush's inauguration next
week. The left doesn't like this. How dare the private sector be
allowed to pay for an official function like this.
The Democrats have
succeeded in stealing the election for governor in Washington state.
The Democratic candidate was sworn in yesterday, but the Republicans plan to
challenge it in court.
Here's Ted Kennedy's rambling
screed on the future of the Democratic party. Of course, he means a
political party...not the kind where you get drunk and drive your car off a
bridge and leave the scene of an accident.
A television network actually reported the heroic actions of some soldiers and
in doing so, presented the military in a positive light. The
Media Research Center was there for the momentous occasion.
The Democratic party continues to play the race card. Larry
Elder explains how cries of "disenfranchisement" from Jesse
Jackson and other race warlords are baseless and without merit.
Too many people overreact when you disagree with them, and start calling you
names. Thomas
Sowell says disagreements are inevitable, but the art of disagreeing
is vanishing. Excellent column as always.
Armstrong Williams didn't exactly do the brightest thing, but Jonah
Goldberg points out that Jesse Jackson has been doing the exact same thing
for decades. Nobody seems to care, of course, since he's a liberal.
The CBS Rathergate report says that "myopic zeal" was at fault for the
botched National Guard story. Like everyone else, Kathleen
Parker wonders why political bias wasn't called on this one.
Now that the downfall of CBS News is almost complete, Howard
Fineman says it's just the tip of the iceberg. He says the whole
mainstream media is on the way down. |
